perfect!  i'll be in dallas until next sunday :)
My son has spring break next week.   Maybe we will get out later in the week and see if the fish are back in the shallows.  if so, maybe we can hook up Sunday afternoon.
i actually have a soccer game that sunday, but maybe we can get a couple of boats out one day and have that left-wing/right-wing tourney we talked about before.

 6. if not, it's REAL close... it was kind of telling last night to see what Tech did to a team with a better overall AND conference record from a conference that's supposed to be so much better than the big 12.  and the game was AT seton hall!
 7. here's mine, in order of most likely to least likely being upset: Duke, Syracuse, Kentucky, Kansas.
 8. i'd say this year the odds are worse than that :)

 11. this is one of the hardest years i can remember picking.  there are a lot of interesting matchups between good teams from average conferences vs. average teams from good conferences.  those are always tough to pick.  here are some of the matchups that i'm struggling with: maryland/houston butler/utep xavier/minnesota byu/florida siena/purdue mizzou/clemson temple/cornell vandy/murray st
 12. ok, my bracket is completed and ready to dominate!
 13. Does 1A even play baseball?* *Just kidding, 1A baseball fans, that's a knock on JoesBros.
 14. Silsbee has the better chance, but they both have a chance... as far as i'm concerned, Silsbee will be the favorite to advance out of region 3 until proven otherwise.  With Spurger, they're going to have to pull off some more upsets like they did this year.  Hopefully Spurger will go, and also HJ or Silsbee too!
 15. that's great!  i know that he has them improving every year.  this year might be the first year that they make it into the conference tourney!
 16. the ags have road that could definitely lead to the elite 8.  they may have to face the weakest #4 in Purdue, and the weakest #1 in Duke.  both of those teams still very well could beat the Ags, but it's better than having to play a team like Kansas or Kentucky!
 17. i'm undecided about whether i'm coming tonight or not.

Ever been to a baseball game when PNG plays Central? or Bellaire vs Wheatley in baseball in Houston? BUt because its BASKETBALL, it becomes "classless" all of a sudden.. I rest my case.
so if they were on the end of these butt kickings, and are still upset about them, would that mean that maybe these buttkickings actually DO have an effect on the athletes that suffer them?
Not to be cruel or harsh, but don't you guys think that if a person is STILL upset about losing a HIGH SCHOOL game as an adult, they probably needed psychological evaluation prior to? I would say yes.....Get over it. Everybody can't win, otherwise why take score? Everyone is playing with the same ball, by the same rules...Same classification even, according to the UIL.....Its like death, its a part of life. There are many other important things to focus on in your life other than a basketball game. ::)
i definitely see your point.  i've been fortunate enough, for the most part, to not be on too many "bad" teams.  i've still taken some shelackings over my lifetime, and although i certainly don't brood over them, i can remember how i felt at the end of those games.  i seriously can't imagine how i would've handled losing a basketball game by 135 when i was in high school.  i imagine i would've been pretty upset about it, though.
Oh, ABSOLUTELY!! I am certain that while it was happening and a few days after it probably stung like the dickens!!! BUT I hope your coach was able to get you guys to learn SOMETHING from the experience.....I just feel that the KIDS at YATES HIGH SCHOOL are being looked at as villans here in a way, which is why I felt obligated to speak on it...Coach Wise is not the only one feeling the tension of many here, but I would rather let him have to deal with it than those kids...I dont think it is fair to them at all.
that makes sense... i will say that i haven't seen much on here where anyone was trying to lay any of this on the kids, but as you say, i'm sure they're effected by the controversy.  didn't look like it bothered them too much at the state tourney, though :)
 19. can you give us the group id #?  i know i can get to the group using that.

 21. i found a list of all of the groups, but i couldn't find anything where i could search for a group.
 22.
Ags should win their first game vs. Utah State for sure. Probably Purdue after that, which ain't a cakewalk. If you beat Purdue, then you probably have Duke....good luck with that. On the flip side, my Horns will probably lose to Wake Forest in the first round. if we win, then we play Kentucky and get blown out.
ags earned their seed.  If i'm not mistaken, Purdue just lost their best player for the year, and they got absolutely manhandled yesterday, scoring only 11 points in the 1st half.
 23.
Orangefield destroys someone in baseball. Its a big deal for a few days. Yates destroys someone in hoops. Its a big deal for a month or two. You naysayers need to get a grip. These kids aren't permanently damaged in any way whatsoever. IN FACT, I GUARANTEE you that in 10 years -- maybe less -- some of those Houston Lee players will BRAG, "Yeah I played against that unbelievable Yates Natl champ team. They were THAT good. They crushed us us so bad...."   Also, somewhere out there, a former HS CB is bragging that HE was the one on that viral/ESPN football youtube video when Cy-Fair's Sam ??? hurdled over. I was in a downtown Houston high rise, thick-carpet law office a while back when two of us got off on 1970's high school hoops and the lead mega-priced attorney across the table starts bragging on how his Clear Creek team lost to Jackie Carr's Wheatley Wildcats by less than anyone else in the state that year. We even did the Wheatley clap-whisper-chant for the whole room. ITS ALL F-U-N. That's the epitome of kids sports. Even kids without that perspective at the time gain that perspective over time. Adults should already have such perspective. All y'all should try it. If y'all had ANY CONSISTENCY AT ALL, you'd call for the resignation of the UIL Executive Director, but if course "that's different."  Loopy logic ABOUNDS. One FURTHER example from this thread: Rick Reilly tries to connect a shooting incident to Yates coaching style and NO ONE ADMITS ITS OVER THE TOP. Perspective, gentlemen, perspective. Try keeping things in proportion. This might be my last post here because a moderator disagrees with me. Perspective
i've been thinking about this one, and i think Reilly is partially right on this, but very irresponsible in the way he states it.  is there more likely to be an altercation between fans after a game when one team has been thoroughly humiliated?  sure.  should the blame for some idiot pulling a gun in one of these said altercations be placed at the feet of Coach Wise?  absolutely not.  although i agree with most of the stances Reilly takes in this article, that is one sticking point for me, and shockingly enough, one point for us to agree on.

 25.
You MUST REMEMBER.....All of the Rick Reilly's of the world have NEVER won anything BIG in sports in their lives and hate people who do...WAY TO GO YATES!!......KEEP SETTING AND BREAKING RECORDS!!!!
Rick Reilly has been voted sportswriter of the year 11 times.  i'd say that's pretty BIG in sports, no matter which side of this argument you're on.
