Which game should Scooter! tune into tonight?
bullets13 replied to Mr. Buddy Garrity's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
HJ! or, might i make a suggestion? load both games, and then you can mute one game at a time while listening to the other. kind of like flipping back and forth between two games on the TV. -
**HARDIN-JEFFERSON vs CLEVELAND... HJ wins 75-68!

Cleveland is the favorite, and deservedly so. that being said, they were the favorites the last two years, and HJ has found a way to beat them. I won't be so bold as to predict HJ will win, but I'll give them a decent chance. -
Goodbye 1-seed, hello 3-seed.
Big parking lot brawls the last few years...If Hj beats Cleveland again, history may repeat itself :o Xtra security for this one!!
got to see the brawl last year... pretty ridiculous.

SDSU and BYU are both solid, but it's a lot like mid-major football. neither team has played anyone all year: SDSU's only win over a ranked opponent was against #12 Gonzaga, their second game of the season. Gonzaga is now 21-9 and unranked. BYU has two wins over ranked teams... SDSU, and SDSU. They also had an impressive win over Arizona early in the year, but that win lost some of it's luster with Zona's back to back losses this week. So realistically, 4 quality wins between them, and two of them came from their head-to-head matchups where one of them had to win. I don't think either one of these teams would be in the top-3 of a major conference. Both of these teams are good enough to make decent runs in the tourney, but i wouldn't be surpised at all if they both lost in the 2nd round, either.

Late Season Final 4 Predictions
bullets13 replied to Mr. Buddy Garrity's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Kansas, Pitt, Duke, Nova -
HJ is clearly the most improved girls' team in the area. they played games last year with no subs, and probably only won 3 or 4 games at most all season. this year they started with something like 10 straight wins and are looking at maybe a 2nd place finish in district.

HJ Girls Translating Trust Into Wins
The streak ends after a 2-0 loss to Lumberton Friday night.. Way to jinx them bullets lol
I could've told you 6 months ago they'd lose to lumberton friday. that being said, that's a pretty good result against a solid lumberton team, and I expect the girls to compete for 2nd place in the district. -

rather lose now than lose in March IMO. not like were going for an undefeated record in conference now
I didn't mind the first one, but two in seven days to good, but not great teams is a little scary, especially considering the leads they blew in both games. i'll say that in both games they showed a lot of heart to come back, but they had long stretches in each game where they looked like last year's team.
i doubt it, even if they win the Big 12... Duke, Ohio St, and Pitt are virtual locks. BYU, and possibly Purdue, Arizona or ND if they win their conference championships would all have a good shot to get it over 5-loss Texas, even if they DO beat Kansas in the Big 12 tourney. Texas is likely to drop to #9 or #10 in the country now, and i don't see them moving up enough to get a #1 seed.

Texas loses 91-89. They also just lost their #1 seed, as well as a shot to play tourney games in San Antonio in the leadup to the final four in Houston.

20 second half fouls on the horns. maybe 5 to stop the clock towards the end of the game. Colorado is going to win this one.
-
Hamilton has hit a couple of late 3s, Horns down 2 with 14 ticks left.
-
Horns back with in 4 somehow with 30 seconds left. looking for a comeback as stunning as the one that came up just short at nebraska.
-
guys, guys, guys! we need to get back onto the subject of how bad Cleveland is going to beat HJ!
-
Horns were up 22 in the 1st half, now down 9 with 2:30 left. this game has been really frustrating to watch. the officials have been God awful, and the horns have been just as bad in the 2nd half. During their run to catch up, Colorado's offense consisted of driving into the paint, smashing into as many longhorns as wrecklessly as possible, and then getting two freethrows (except for the THREE NBA continuation 3-point plays they were given). Colorado was in the double bonus after only 8 minutes had gone by in the 2nd half. the only thing that has matched how bad the officials have been is how bad Jordan Hamilton has been. He's made all four of the good looks he's had this game. Unfortunately, he's missed all FIFTEEN of the shots he has forced. J Brown has also been bad in the 2nd half, forcing shots and showing his frustration, a complete turnaround from the 1st half. Gary Johnson has missed about 7 freethrows in the 2nd half. It's been very reminicent of the horns from last year, with a bunch of individuals trying to do too much. I'd be surprised if Texas has 4 assists in the second half.
-
So far this is the best game I've ever seen J'Covan Brown play. He's been red hot. he started out 5-5, 4-4 from deep. at the half he's 5-7 from the floor, 14 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals to go along with only 1 turnover and 1 foul. 3 of those assists were really good passes, and both steals displayed really good hands.

Horns up 48-33 at the half.
