I saw a couple of cardinals and a butterfly on my p.o.s. clear cut lease in nac county cut the krapola outta of it 3 weeks before season.............got more trees at crystal beach............
running into some of the same problem on my lease. a lot of it burned during the wildfires last year, and the forestry service didn't come up with the survey until september. so all of the cover that was burnt, is now pushed over and burned in piles. fortunately we still have some woods here and there to hunt.

About to pull some bacon-wrapped back strap kabobs off the grill. It's gonna taste horrible ;)
Just got back from Sabine. Same story. Lots of birds but very few keepers. Only kept a couple of reds and a couple of trout.
you need to invest in an LA license. everything's a keeper!

I went to a stand tonight where we were getting some pictures, and my dad hunted my stand on a whim and shot a 3-point 3 minutes before you can't legally shoot. I saw a spike, a doe, and a button buck, by the spike came out in the only place at that stand where I can see but not logistically get a shot off. We're not seeing big bucks, but we have seen 7 or 8 since Saturday, which is exciting because the last couple of years it's been almost entirely does out here
-
Saw nothing tonight
-
We saw two borderline 8-points today, a 3 or 4 point, and a couple of does. No shots taken.
-
Missed a hog. Pretty grumpy about it, but it was a tough shot. He kept sticking his head out of the thick stuff and grabbing corn at about 70 yards. It was getting dark so I tried to pop him when he stuck his head out
-
slow going out here today... three of us hunted. one saw a doe and a button buck, one saw a doe and a yearling, and that was IT.

I'm starting to get excited! I took Monday and Tuesday off and I'm ready to get to the lease. Not sure how many deer I'll see, but I like my odds off at least dropping a pig or two.
i've got a buddy who hunts a similar situation out there, and i know he does well. it's nice to have a big area without much hunting pressure at your disposal.

TABC Preseason State Polls, all classifications

Silsbee is going to be scary good this year, i do believe. the best 3A team in the state, possibly. (i'm talking about real 3A programs, not ones that recruit players from places like New Jersey, not to mention having the greater Houston area at their disposal). -
World Series- Giants vs. Tigers
bullets13 replied to PhatMack19's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I was rooting for the Giants to beat the Cardinals, and now i'm rooting for the Tigers beat the Giants. I'm ready to see the WS come back to the American league. -

Has a .40 goals-against per game mark in southland conference play, and has allowed only 1 goal (a penalty kick) in her last 405 minutes in goal. Lamar is 4-1 in the southland.
Made the trip this summer. Been trying to talk my wife into moving there ever since. If you are bringing home fish, get them frozen and packed and bring them on the plane as baggage. Much cheaper than trying to ship them back. It is $40 or $50 for a checked bag (up to 50 pounds) on most airlines, and $8.00 a pound to ship it back.
yup. we brought back 350 lbs of halibut and 150 lbs of salmon a few years ago. carried on coolers :)

Yes they can, and the HJ-WOS score is very decieving.
HJ was held to zero points, what do you consider deceiving? :o :o ::) ::)
give HJ the missed short field goal, and take away the two INT returns, and it's 35-3. that's almost respectable against WOS. then take away the two TD drives after the punt returns that totalled 13 yards, and it's 21-3. SO yes, it was a blowout, but the score wasn't indicative of how much closer HJ played them than in years past. a couple of QB miscues, and a couple of ST miscues made this game a much larger blowout than it was for the other 98% of the game. -

what hasn't gone wrong for the rangers the second half of the season? They put up a respectable record, despite losing two very good starters in Lewis and Feliz... and then in the last two weeks, they lose their best setup man in Mike Adams, Josh Hamilton proves himself as the least clutch best player in MLB, and i bet the rangers only scored maybe 15-20% of runners from 3rd base with less than two outs. they fell apart. the bullpen and the young starters finally started playing poorly. the offense went cold. i'm frustrated, but i won't mind when they lose to the orioles, because the orioles deserve a shot at a full series with the good baseball they played down the stretch, and to be honest, the rangers deserved to go home at the end of the regular season after losing 9 of their last 13 games and blowing several late leads.
