    Yep.
But as a whole, I've been pretty disenchanted with the Boy Scouts organization for a long time.

I knew Waters was referring to a kid having a normal life in that line. That's why I put the LOL on the end. Thanks for expanding on it.

He’s actually referring to an actual book entitled “Scouting for Boys” written in 1908 by a British Army officer thought to have begun the scouting movement. Waters was probably using this line to show that the kid had a normal life before becoming a musician and a part of the machine (the music industry). An excellent song. One of many by Pink Floyd.

The name Boy Scouts as part of Boy Scouts of America ended five years ago.
They went to Scouting BSA. They quit using the term Boy Scouts a few years ago. Some people are a little late to the protest.
The Boy Scouts have been co-ed for about 50 years in some programs and all of them years ago. They quit completely being completely “boy” scouts like back in the 70’s with Explorers.
So they went to Scouting America.
    Horrible!!
They are currently about 1.2 million scouts of which almost 200,000 are girls. This isn’t new.
They simply changed the name to Scouting America as the parent organization. Again, the name Boy Scouts ended a while back.
They didn’t change their logo to a transgender person, didn’t change the qualifications, they didn’t take “America” out of the name, etc.
Sometimes I wonder how far people will go to be offended…..

You have a choice between two guys in November that neither of us can change or could have changed.
You can continue to whine and moan, not vote, vote for biden, I couldn't care less what you do.
Those of us that choose to face reality simply deal with it.
You just keep your fingers crossed hoping biden will win in November so you can get on here and be the star of the political forum (in your mind) by telling us all I told you so, even though you had as much to do with this situation as any of us.
And yes, I can claim he was a good President, because he was, and I and others have made long lists of the reasons why, which you cannot refute.
You have a good day wallowing in your perpetual misery.

No real argument there including band, drill team, twirlers, flag corps, etc. - except - at least for cheerleading (I can't speak on the others), all the uniforms, matching work out clothes for camp (5 outfits), many travel expenses, and other things are not paid for by the district. It's the parents who foot the bill.

Well, I got a whole house full of 1 football player that played in college, 2 cheerleaders one of whom cheered in college. Football games are super important for the cheerleaders, but I would say 80% of their efforts (and my money) went to competitions.

This reminds me of a talk show I saw years ago. It was about unruly kids. They prefaced the show with audience reactions to this 12 year old girl.  They started by saying she had cursed her brother (audience….boooo), then she had pulled a knife on her mother (audience….BOOOO), then they said that she even kicked the dog ( audience…..SHOOT HER, OFF WITH HER HEAD!!!!!! Blah, blah) It was as ridiculous as this topic…. And I started it. lol

Who would want the legal right for a woman to have to dress out and compete against a biological male with a penis and testicles? It has nothing to do with discriminating against gays. It has everything to do with fairness and respect and safety towards girls/women. It's the "transgender" part that's an issue. Isn't it discrimination against girls who aren't allowed to compete solely against other girls? They're being forced to not only compete in a co-ed league, but to get naked in front of biological males without any choice in the matter. Normalcy is being discriminated against.

Ma'am, I don't think he said all Muslims were like that. If I'm reading this right, he's referencing the terrorist Muslims. You know, the ones who commit murder & have no regard for anyone who doesn't follow their jihadist beliefs...

We all know that each state has its own laws which can be very different, especially in endeavors like annexation or incorporation, so there is no telling what Louisiana law says.
I don’t know but I doubt that there is a point of appeal for Baton Rouge to force St. George to be absorbed back into Baton Rouge by now giving them what they asked for years ago. “Oh, we lost? Well let’s just undo incorporation, ruled as legal by the Supreme Court (of LA)  by going back and giving them what they asked for”.
There has to be a law allowing such an appeal.
I think what I read about the lower court decisions which actually backed up Baton Rouge, they did not all rule that incorporation was illegal but that they did not think the city could have services up and running soon enough. So you have a court saying that sure you can split but only if we agree that you can provide services get enough. In Louisiana, who knows?
I doubt that Texas has such a mechanism to allow a city to split, for example, could the west end of Beaumont say that they wish to make their own city against Beaumont’s objection? I doubt it. Certainly Beaumont could allow a city to be created as Port Arthur did with Bridge City and Taylor’s Landing. There is a huge difference in allowing and forcing which is what happened in Baton Rouge.
Similar to the sometime discussed topic of Texas splitting off from the United States because they don’t like the way things are going, think if citizens in any city in the United States were allowed to create their own city, which could not be stopped by the parent city.
     That could get interesting!!
Don't like what is happening in the south side of Chicago? Just de-annex and create your own city!!
Anyway, I thought that it is an interesting story when the capital city splits in half.

Interesting. I hadn't heard that. I bet it's hard to set up a new city.
I wonder if Baton Rouge would be best served to appeal with the caveat of allowing the new ISD in the St. George area.

Not many schools, if any in our area, have fall baseball teams. Kids play for teams outside of school during the fall if they want to.

I played 4 years of college basketball... and knew at a very early age that it would be my passion.  I also played football.. and baseball in JH/HS.  During football/baseball seasons I got in a lot of basketball drills.  Before school, after practice, and on weekends.  I most definitely have a problem with using time for YOUR sport during time that's allocated for another sport.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, focusing on a sport doesn't mean abandoning the others.  It just means finding extra time.
Players that want to be great will do that.

I think this whole discussion is getting overly hyped. My son played 3 sports and went on to play college football (still in school). I played 4 sports and went on to play college football. Neither of us (separated by 30+ years) got anything but support from our respective AD's and coaches.

Can't blame the AD. Texas is a Football mecca. If an AD does poorly in football, but decent in baseball, he may be looking for another job soon. If he does great in football, then no one really cares what happens with baseball, generally speaking. He's trying to keep a job and bolster his resume' for the next chance to promote his career.
