2.
Another version of the game report from a "non-Silsbee" spectator. :D Opening series for both offenses was a serious contrast of styles to say the least. Not sure about all these stats and numbers posted earlier in the thread because several of the big plays were negated by penalties. Lumberton busted 3 really big plays and not a whole lot after that so the "official stats" are a bit misleading. Lumberton showed off a really nice running back who was fun to watch, sorry I don't know his name but he ran it well. The "Full House" backfield worked well for the Raiders and gave BC fits at times, with more reps that offense will be a Defensive Coaches nightmare because it takes some serious discipline to stop. BC sported a really balanced attack and by far had the more sustained drives of the 2 #1 offenses. Bridge City showed good speed at the skill positions and Menard was as good as advertised. On both the offensive and defensive side side of the ball the biggest concern for BC may be size or lack of it. They compensate well offensively by taking advantage of Menard and his mobility with the spread. BC did get the run game going with Clark during the second session for the first offenses. Defensively BC had some issues on the first series that ultimately were resolved but not before Lumberton scored a pair of long TD's. BC held the Raiders in check for the most part after that. Lumberton got good penetration several times from their defensive front line causing a few disruptions for the BC offense, especially on that inside run from the spread formation. Overall both squads have to feel good about their performances. Relatively clean game for both sides as far as penalties and turnovers are concerned. And the biggest thing for both sides was no injuries!!
But from a Bridge City point of view. ::)
 3. The BE football preview will be out on Sunday, Aug. 21st. It will not be an insert but a full page edition.
 4. There were several area coaching staffs in attendance tonight. Silsbee, Jasper and Hardin-Jefferson to name a few.
 5.
Why did Lindsey and Thomas not play?
That's what I would like to know. Hope it isn't injuries.

I saw some of the Kountze players and coaching staff at the BC/Lumberton scrimmage.
 7.
Who caught some of the passes? was Cameron Dishon there?
Cameron hauled in one TD pass that covered 57 yards.
 8. The best zone defense is the one that keeps your opponent from scoring more points than you do. ;D In all honesty, I like man-to-man. ;)
 9.
WRONG BigDaddy..........not everyone was notified!!!!! The bottom line is selfishness and greed.  Some refs give preferential treatment to some coaches and schools.  Way too much "I'll scratch your back, if you scratch my back" going on with some refs and coaches.  What happened to being a person that just sat back and called a good fair game and called it down the middle?
With the local chapters split, those days are long gone. :-[

 11.
Both 2nd teams ran 10 plays each, no scoring.  There was no game conditions portion of the scrimmage. Bridge City's offense was impressive with an even mix of run and pass.  Menard looked pretty sharp.  The BC defense did appear to get pushed around a little bit when they were on the field but did better as the scrimmage went on. Of the 45 plays that they ran, Lumberton threw the ball maybe 3 times.  They are going with a full house backfield and look to try and control the ball this year.  And they appear that they may need to, the Raiders on defense had a noticeable lack of team speed that will hurt them around district time.
Could not have said that better myself. ;D
 12. I am headed out to this controlled scrimmage. I'll post a few comments while out there.

 15.
If you talking bout Kerry then no. Kerry was the fastest mustang ive ever seen to include Beasley.
But neither were as fast as Trey Franks. Franks won state in the 100 meters in back to back years, 2009-2010. He turned a 10.3 100 meters. He is now playing receiver at OU.

That is exactly what happened.
Delusional? Really? Where you there? If anyone is delusional its you and your opinion that Neumann is envious of English and wishes to sabotage his success. What a joke.
I find that very hard to believe myself.
 17.
Home gets broken into while I'm visiting family. They ransacked the place and only took a 19 inch flat screen. No money, no video game system, no CDs or DVDs, no clothes or shoes.
But that's all I asked them to take, just to send a message. ;)
 18.
Silsbee was that high in the USA today polls?
Yep.
 19.

Wasn't Sigler the coach back in '95 when Silsbee was ranked #1 and undefeated alll season long, then lost in the first round of the playoffs?
Yes
Yes, Sigler was the coach in '95 (had been the head coach since 1986, ended in 2003). But the year you are speaking of was '98, not '95. Silsbee was 31-0, #1 in class 4A, and was up to #14 in the USA Today national poll, then lost in the second round (Silsbee had a bye in first round) to Chapel Hill.
 20.
IMO Silsbee changed their mind on hiring Mackay because they caught so much heat over it. A week ago Sigler was left out and had no chance, he got hired because Silsbee had to hire a proven coach or the community would have gone ape stuff!!!!!
Sorta true. First of all, they wouldn't be "hiring" Mackey (he already works for the district ;)), just appointing him as interim head coach. Second, the decision was delayed because of what you stated, the board (and folks in the community) wanted a head basketball coach, not interim. The reason Sigler was at first a no go was because he did not want to have to coach football and that was how the position was opened. The board had that responsibility dropped, which then put him (and others) into play.
 21. With the situation being that NISD needed a coach and a science teacher, it is obvious that the emphasis was on getting a coach that was certified in teaching science. No brainer.
 22.
Enlighten me, cause truly I do not understand. A previous poster said Neumann had to hire this coach while fitting it all together like a puzzle. Why should Neumann have to worry whether this assistant coach teaches math, science, or any other subject. Did neuman hire this guy as a science teacher?....or was he told by administration that he could hire anyone he wanted BUT they also had to be a science teacher?
I believe that to be the case.
 23.
Ok, I know probably for a fact that only one person in this post has played any college sports, and also probably the only person that actually got into the game and excelled in high school. If yall knew anything about "developing" kids yall would know that English doesn't need help teaching kids to play at the high school level, as he has shown with his past assistants and success. Coach Smith is very qualified to fill the position and to help out English. But for the development of the "future" of Nederland basketball, yall should want Smith as the head coach at the Middle School level to develop the kids and not taking the Assistant job at the high school where English can control that program. (Also, his son will be in 7th grade next year). Before we make this kind of topic its own feed, we need to understand and point out how many kids in the past 10-20-30 years have actually graduated from Nederland and went on to play college basketball. I think yall need to get a new hobby.
You would be wrong on that fact. ;)
