I hope everything is okay with Coach Jones and his guys down there.
Yep. The word I got was HI was down to just 14 or 15 players total. Hope this doesn't turn out to be what Chester went through a couple of years ago.

 4. The scrimmage will be at BISD Stadium (aka Da Butch). Varsity will start at 10:30am.

And, if the stupid UIL decides to go to the Divisional districts, then who knows what districts the local 3A schools will be in let alone what number the district will be.
I know there was talk of that. You think they would mess everything up like that though?
I sure hope not.

 10. I was told that it was the price of the rental. Bowers was cheaper than Moorehead. Go figure.

Thanks
But the topic is 'Zone Defense' for crying out loud!!  :) Just not that exciting..
So true. Kinda like HJ's defense ;D
Definitely.   almost as boring as 30-37 wins per season wins per season
Is there an echo in here? ;D

 13.
Utfan, I was told by a classmate of mine that this could be the BEST overall Silsbee group (sophomore class) that they have had in the last 10 years. With the mix of great seniors and experienced juniors, the could suprise some people. I look for them to have a winning record and go to the 3rd round of the playoffs.
I'll go a much bigger step further. This sophomore group can potentially be the best athletic class in Silsbee since the 1972 class. This soph. class has won at each level they have played in so far and in every sport. The '72 class is the best ever to come through Silsbee and their accomplishments show it. Their senior year they were district champs in football (advanced to Quarterfinals, todays regional finals) were district champs in basketball (advanced to state tourney, losing to eventual state champ Odessa Ector in semis), was runner up in baseball (back then only the district champ advanced to playoffs) and was district champ in track (sent two to state meet). Two of the football players (Hunter and Skinner) were all state and went on to be All Americans in college and played in the NFL, with Hunter being named All Pro. David Brown made all state in basketball and was all conference in college, playing a couple of years in the NBA. As for this year, it starts with at least 8-10 on the varsity football team with 5-6 starting. ;)

Is WOS the easy favorite to win it or will Silsbee and the other teams be able to give them a run?
It's WOS district's to lose. Also, Silsbee will be better than what folks expected them to be.
After the first scrimmage, it sounds like Silsbee should be the favorite.
Nope, Kirbyville is down, WOS would have done the same with them that day and will do it later on in the season when they venture up to Kirbyville to take on the Wildcats.

Second, who said scooter was invited? ;) ;D

 19.
One log to throw on this fire, why did Jordan Wood, Seth Barrow, and Michael Shaw, stop playing basketball?  They were three of the best players in their class, Shaw one of the best athletes in the school, Barrow shoots the lights out and a great athlete in his own right, Wood a small forward who can bang, step back and hit a j, dee up and rebound.... Why are these guys not playing basketball?  I've got my theory.  This lovefest goes both ways, get off your high horse.  I can't think they just lost interest.  And I know if they grabbed any two knuckleheads from the halls, their five could ball against anyone in the school... so how rosy white is this situation?
Hmmmm... very interested in reading the response to this post. Brubaker just knocked down a big 3 and now has applied some full court pressure. ;D
 20. Can't wait!! We have a ton to talk about Sunday night! Are you ready for some football?!!!!!! ;D

I believe Patrick Reed will be another good one for the Tigers. He has the potential to be JJ good. At this point he is a little bit thicker version of JJ, just not as fast, but still has the quickness and athleticism. Reed has a very strong arm for a sophomore and runs the ball with toughness. At '6"2 180lb he has very good size and I still think he will grow some more. He needs to work on his accuracy but that will come with the experience and reps. The good thing about being a sophomore QB this year is that he has an experienced and talented O-line to work behind. That line will help smooth things in the early part of the season until Patrick and his backfield mate(Floyd Spearman, who is also a soph.) can get used to the varsity speed of the game. In the long run, a soph. QB has always worked out for the Tigers and I see this one being as good as all the others, including JJ.
How big is the Spearman kid?
Spearman is '6"1 190lb. Easily the biggest back with very good speed that Silsbee has had in quite some time. And he is only a sophomore. ;) A quote from WOS head coach Cornel Thompson, "Spearman looks like a young AP (Adrian Peterson) when he was at Palestine".
