What's wrong with Nederland losing to Bridge City. They need to surround that kid (Hefner) with better talent than that.

Wish I could make it early enough to see what the freshman team looks like this year.

How can a team surround A kid with better talent? Not everyone is as loaded as our tigers lol Honestly though, Nederland does have talent surrounding Hefner. I really like the bulldogs this year AND I believe they will win the district! I know it will be tough with PA and Barbers Hill and even a tough Vidor team this year, but I think at the end, Nederland will win it.

I had to do some digging.. but how about:

    Ashton Hall
    C.J. Busby
    Devin Bray
    Roman Walker
    Laramie Lynn
    Grayland Arnold
    TJ Stanford

Not all D1 basketball players but a few D1 athletes and mostly college basketball players.  I'm pretty certain I'm missing some as I didn't know or remember a few on this list as it is.  How many schools the size of Kountze have never had a basketball player that is the caliber player as the names I mentioned above?

Great athletes. But not D1 athletes. You named two D1 athletes on that list. Grayland and Ashton. I understand what you are saying because Kountze have always seemed to have Athletes, but I can not stand anyone saying that Joub is not a good coach. I witness it every year how hard that man works! Again, last years team had zero college athletes on it and Joub led them to the regional tournament.

I'm not saying he's not.. but can he win with bad / below average teams?  There's no question he's had success but look at the players he had when he had that kind of success.  Lot of D1 athletes come to mind.

This brings us back to the point I make all of the time.  Even good coaches can't win without good players...case in point. What's Kountze's record?

A lot of D1 Athletes? Name them please sir.

Last year he had zero players that play college ball now and they went to the regional tournament.

Talking to the Giddings fans, and according to the Coaches, they are real confident of an easy win. Concerned about the Silsbee speed on Defense, but Def C. says only thing Silsbee does on offense is throw the deep ball, and if they can shut that down, Silsbee has no other scoring threats. He said O line is not very good, running backs are not a factor. Looks like Silsbee gets lucky with a big play now and then, and will score with special teams. Just dont see how an 8-4 team can beat a 11-1 team. G-Town fans are fired up, Just another notch on the way to AT&T Jerry World.

hahaha all 3 of the Silsbee backs are cold blooded! They will see. Give me Silsbee by 21+

Basketball is a little different than football.  Mostly it's your best 5 vs my best 5.  That best 5 can appear from small schools.  Not that much of a differance in basketball...

Yeah but what are the chances that the best 5 out of 700 would be better than the best 5 out of 2500. That is my point. It is a HUGE difference. If there wasn't, there would not be different divisions lol

In theory you are correct, the larger school should usually beat the smaller school, but I wouldn't say Silsbee should NEVER beat a BISD team, certainly not this Silsbee team.  The team that has the 3 best players even if its the smaller school will often win and usually should win.  Unlike maybe in football, 3 guys can flat out take over a basketball game regardless of how deep they are compared to the bigger school or even how talented the teams are from top to bottom.

    Oh trust me I know!

But back to the Silsbee vs United game. Silsbee fans I mean this as no disrespect but there is no way in hell Silsbee should’ve beaten BU last night.( I did pick Silsbee to win so don’t go crazy). Yea I understand Silsbee has 3 extremely good players along with Tyler who could very well be a star at any other school. But I’m not a fan im a student of the game of basketball and what i saw last night from BU was terrible. No offensive sets ,poor substitutions, lets not even talk about the defense. Silsbee took advantage of all that with 7 guys playing at that pace for an entire game , that in itself is jaw dropping. #5-6’6 Justin Pleaant could not be stopped offensively and he might have had 5 touches,#14- 6’6 Tyrese Baker played 45 secs., #23-6’5 Jaylen Subejct who is the best player on BU doesn’t get in til the 2nd qtr seriously. Lack of shooting will get them too, BU made maybe 8 jump shots for the WHOLE GAME!!!! .Your only true ball handler is Kasen and you rely on him to score because your not running offense. When you start to play good teams they will take him out the equation by trapping him which is what Silsbee should’ve done. BU has so much length but they only play one way you won’t beat good teams playing like that. They are legitimately 10 deep but trying to play 14 guys will get them in trouble every game . There isn’t enough time to do that and you take players out of rhythm. No negative energy here only my thought as a student of the game

Silsbee had the best 3 on the court though. Anytime one team has the best 3, I would think they should win. But in reality, Silsbee should NEVER beat any BISD school. Look at the amount of kids enrolled in the schools. It is ridiculous! Subject MIGHT have the most potential on the next level, but he is not the best player on that team. (Kasen is)!! But #4 ate Silsbee up last year and he barely touched the ball this year??? I believe BU has a great chance at making a deep run. I also feel very confident that Silsbee will win state again.

HD is the 2nd best team in the District, everyone in the District is way way behind San Augustin. HD’s RB’s, BJ Peterson and Terrick Peterson are elite RB’s. This is HD’s deepest team in years, as far as athletic depth, lots of the Bobcats are just scrappy ball players.

    HD 32

    D-Ville 28

They are solid for sure. Question, how many offers do they have and from what schools?

  10. HD beat Kountze with Adams out and their Linebacker out. The LB had 21 tackles against HD last year. He played against Deweyville. Even though HD has the best duo in the state in the backfield, Deweyville will win this game. If not, it will be a close game. Ii think DV will eat HD line up on both sides.
