The definition is correct, the rest is your opinion. If you don't know the objective of this war, you have not been paying attention. There is a clear objective. It appears we are going to meet that objective.....Trump just did what Obama and others could not do.2 points -
Everyone competes to win championships and the best team at the end of the season is declared the "champion". That means that if you want to declare someone to be the best coach you would start with championships and then go to "wins". SS can be declared the greatest high school coach of all-time without qualification. However, that does not mean that he has not been in "the right place at the right time" and also been the beneficiary of outside factors such as the fact that there are many more championships available on a yearly basis than what was available before all of the division splits. There are many GREAT coaches in schools that never have the talent level that SS walked into in Carthage and deal with community dynamics that hinder maximum optimization of the talent available. Those coaches may appear mediocre to those not "in the know". It was mentioned previously that a good coach "gets the most out of what he has available" and this is a likely good way to view caliber of coaching. However, the only folks who know what the "most out of what is available" is typically the coaches on the staff. Those who do not spend the hours with the kids when they are out of their comfort zones can only speculate as to what they believe to be "real".2 points

Remember Austin extremely well. He would have been in my top 2 guesses of who previously held the record. He would also definitely be on my Mt Rushmore of the best OF players I have seen over the past 3 decades. Also a really good guy, especially considering being saddled with Roy as a big brother 😉2 points

Ken Paxton Would Crush RINO Cornyn in Texas Senate Primary, Data Confirms.
AggiesAreWe reacted to tvc184 for a topic
You started this thread almost a year ago. The article that you led off with has one poll showing Paxton up as much as 40% and crushing Cornyn. A day later I said not so fast. It is hard to beat an incumbent. As an example I gave the gubernatorial race between Kay, Bailey Hutchison and Rick Perry. I think she was up about 25 points a year out, was a very popular US senator and had all the big names pushing for her. Perry beat her in the primary. Hutchison went from a 20+% point lead to a loss. A month later, you posted an article that said “Texas sized trouble for Cornyn”as a headlines and Paxton with a double digit lead A month later the article was Cornyn trounced by Paxton. We could go on but I believe the point has been made. All of the double digit leads completely went away and in truth, Cornyn beat Paxton in the primary. It was by only 1% but Paxton’s double digit lead (as much as 40%) evaporated and he edged into second place behind Cornyn. Now apparently, Paxton has already won. Yesterday you posted a poll that showed Cornyn lost support (42% to 41%) from the primary so none of the undecided and all of the votes for Hunt went to Paxton. The article that you posted now has Paxton with a 1% advantage if Cornyn got the Trump endorsement. The rumors are that Trump is about to endorse Cornyn. If that happens, by your article, it shows the race well within the margin of error. So for now, Cornyn has “already lost the run-off”. The bottom line is that nothing that you have posted for a year has been correct. Not only did Paxton not crush Cornyn, he lost to him in the primary. Yes it was by a mere percentage point but that’s a far cry from a 15% to 40% crushing loss by Cornyn. Paxton may very well gain the needed votes to win. I doubt that Cornyn will lose votes as the article you posted suggests however. Oddly, Paxton’s biggest ace in the hole could be the Democrat supporters not wishing to face Cornyn.1 point -
That's a shame. Massie is more of a Libertarian Conservative, and more someone my speed. Epstein files are causing issues for Trump. But, it's not Massie's fault. [Hidden Content]1 point

How Do You Define an Elite Coach?

I often wonder who GA Moore would be had he coached in Warren for 44 years. Also, do you remember GA Moore for all his wins at Celina and Pilot Point, or the fact that he finished his career with two back to back losing seasons at Aubrey HS? I wonder, did he forget how to be great?1 point -

The officials were very good and very consistent. I think the problem here was that they approached this game with a “they need to adjust to the way I am calling” rather than a calling the obvious. When OF did attack the rim they did get the same calls, but I also think that OF played much better help defense and the helper was generally who the foul was called on. Fairfield also did a lot of Iso ball and took bad shots when the help was there and I do think that rather than adjusting to the game in front of them, they called extremely tight the entire night. It’s not very often you see a varsity boys game get to the bonus every single quarter (at least in my opinion)1 point

How Do You Define an Elite Coach?
bullets13 reacted to oldschool2 for a topic
This is the exact reason I asked if Elite coaches existed outside of football. Because you have a man that won a state championship in high school, and then won 3 state championships as a head coach running the same exact system that his school has been running since before he took the job. And then less than one calendar year after winning his 3rd state title as a head coach.. his team didn't finish better than 5th in a district that isn't impressive at all. "Elite coaches can win anywhere" is an invalid argument.1 point -

THIS!!!!!! Didn't make the playoffs this year after winning state championship last year. Graduated basically entire team from last year plus best returning player transferred to Hardin-Jefferson. Yet according to Reagan it's his fault they did not make the playoffs this year. Perfect example of the Jimmy and Joes vs. Coach argument.1 point -
How Do You Define an Elite Coach?

On the basketball board is a real world application of this topic: Coach Joubert IS an elite coach. He has won multiple state championships and yet did not make the play-offs in what many would consider a "weak district." He is still an elite coach this season too. Period1 point -

Winning and X’s and O’s are what’s visible the most. Teaching life lessons is also important which usually goes undetected. Coaches can make a big difference in SOME kids lives. Successful coaches usually have good relationships with players that are grown and have family’s of their own.1 point
