Coaching a basketball game the day after the passing of his Mother and being able to stay in focus says alot about the mental toughness of this man. (RIP)Rest in Paradise Momma Green. The Jones Bros from Wharton weren't nothing nice. Does Connally have players as good? Ion know. Meanwhile the Tigers are at home resting up, catching up on their meals. By game time they should be ready. Not tryna look past Connally or anybody else, but some team has to go to SA & represent. Silsbee's chances of going are as good as anybody's.

I think I now have a favorite area team still playing. I love you BU and Silsbee but there’s only one Hull Daisetta!

No. I think BU played a really good Manvel team. This same team looked good when we scrimmaged them before the season. I also think we allowed them to dictate the pace. I think also that we learned a lesson and will push the tempo against this team and won’t let this be a low scoring game.

But I also have to remember the only 2 great coaches in our area is green and sigler.

Some freshmen aren't really freshmen with all the AAU & off season ball they play. I noticed that with Devon McCain & Jay Adams when they were freshmen. Then came Bre Bush who shattered freshmen expectations. All these middle school players they see all that, and they want to do the same thing.

This makes 7 straight years that Silsbee has made it to the regional tourney (regional semis, 4th rd) and 13 of the last 17 years (failed to make regional tourney in 2006, 2011, 2013, 2014). With a win Tuesday, the Tigers will be playing for the regional championship for the 11th time in the past 17 seasons. (won it in 2008, 2010, 2016, 2017, 2018; lost in 2005, 2007, 2012, 2015, 2019) I admit, I didn't think this year's team would continue that streak.

Once again Silsbee had 3 freshman finish out most of the 4th. I believe Bottley had three 3 pointers in the game. Game against Connally is gonna be on Tuesday at Madisonville HS at 7pm.

Good win. BU needed a test like this. Had some silly techs that kept Manvel in it early, and I thought BU forced too many drives into good rim protection. All in all, a win is a win, and this was against a quality opponent. Their next opponent won’t be much (if any) easier.

La Vega looks to be a solid team, but aren’t as good at slowing the ball down as China Spring. They beat Lumberton in the last minute. HJ beat the raiders by 48 earlier in the season. I expect a better performance from the hawks in a game that should suit their tempo and style of play a little better. That said, La Vega will copy China Spring if they’re smart, and they’ve shown this year they can win low-scoring games. I think the hawks win this one more comfortably. I’ll say 76-52 if LV tries to slow it down, but by more if LV falls into HJs style and tempo.

Good win by HJ. The reason for all of the complaints about the refs was their inconsistencies and anticipation calls. Touch fouls on one end, which is fine as long as those calls are the same on the other end lol. Falling down doesn’t always mean you were fouled lol. One ref couldn’t even get up and down the court and considering the pace that’s always bad especially when he starts calling fouls in the paint when he isn’t even past half court yet smh. But on the other hand HJ needed to see some adversity. They continued to play for each other and helped each other thru. Great team win! On to the next one!

I see your point, but upperclassmen also do AAU as well. So freshmen expectations IMO should still be lower than the upperclassmen. That’s why all schools have freshmen teams. But there are exceptions. A LONG list of exceptions...

So sorry to hear that you were so ill, and happy that you pulled through. I’m not sure how or why it is that some people get sick with the virus and they don’t make it, and some do get better. This is still puzzling after a year of this virus in the US. All I know is I don’t trust a lot of people anyway so, staying my distance except for my family was ideal for me. (Plus wearing my mask). I spray my desk and computer with alcohol and keep my classroom clean and disinfected. My kiddos have been taught to wear their mask at school and we all wash our hands and stay socially distance as much as possible. So far, I only had one kid who got ill. Everyday people in my building socialize hang out together and the next thing you know some one has the virus. I was a little skeptical about the shots being offered, but I have decided to take it. Since you already had COVID you may have strong antibodies and my not need to wear a mask. Good Luck.

Although I wear them, imo, any help mask gives is minuscule. Perhaps a N95 might offer a little more. Thing is, mask may be getting more people sick by giving them a false sense of security. Saddest thing about this, we can’t trust our own government. Most of them are driven by an agenda and not the well being of the people or the country. Time to scrap all the coaches and the AD. Every program consistently underperforms every year. With the exception of women’s soccer. Since Marco Born has taken over baseball has went 37-72. Basketball is 40-38. Football is 9-12. Volleyball is 16-42. Softball is 60-74. Women’s basketball is 36-34. When you have a guy from Memphis running the show what do you expect. Hired a guy from San Diego as the football HC. SETX is home to some of the best talent in Texas. How can the home town school continue to fail to get these guys to commit? My guess is the AD and HCs don’t see the value and talent in this area. Baseball is atrocious. No reason it should be like that. 37-72 over 3 years!!! All Marco Born cares about is raising money and doesn’t care about wins and losses. He needs to go. We need a local guy running the show who will go after the best talent and can compete with bigger schools. I know Lamar isn’t going to compete with A&M, UT, or Tech. But there’s no reason we shouldn’t be competing with La Tech, ULM, UTSA, Rice, etc. Obviously the people in charge don’t have a clue how to get wins and build programs. They are just happy to be there. They simply don’t care.
