I still believe Newton is the best 3A football team in Texas. I also believe Newton may very well lose two-three games this season between Silsbee, WOS and Gilmer. I do believe they will give all three teams hell and possibly win those games. Either way, Newton is very good and will benefit from the three mentioned teams. Go, Newton!

Thats not always the case. Good teams lose great talent all the time and them turn around and still have a perfect regular season. Newton may not be as good as last year but they are still dangerous. As the Great Ric Flair said....To be the Man,WOOOOOOOOOO!!!! You gotta beat the man. And Newton is the man until someone proves otherwise

HEY NOW. I played in that game. We won fair and square we were in control most of the game. It took a few trick plays to get yall back into it. Lol

So, after reading some articles about this game, the player that head butted the official throat punched a player from the other team on the play before and received a personal foul. Then he preceded to argue with said official finally head butting him then going after another official. Both teams where warned after the first quarter that the game would be called tight because of the high number of personal foul penalties. The blue team is on probation for football and basketball for actions like these. The game was about half way through the second quarter and the officials called the game because of it getting out of hand.

i look at this at all angles. I don't care WHAT the ref said. YOU DON'T PUT YOUR HANDS ON AN ADULT. now, did he do this knowing that this adult won't do anything back cause he has his team and coach to protect him? cause taking BOTH the ref and the player OFF the field and place them on the block, i'm almost sure the kid wouldn't say boo...if he does act like this in public....natural selection time and put one between the eyes...thats me...i'm too old to fight lol

If WOS has the turnovers under control then it'll be all them. Maybe even a shutout. Last week, WOS had Nederland under control (14-0) before the fumbles started. Even with the turnovers WOS emerged victorious. A sign of a good team. I watched them early last year and wasn't impressed. But, they looked like a decent team this year. I was impressed with their QB's arm. That throw he made over the middle for their second TD was impressive. Plus the Chain Gang appears to be back!

Lol, disagree totally. I do agree that Acadiana would beat BV, but not demolish. BV actually has a decent QB and RB.

My comment was more of a shot at the local city govt than the school. It’s pretty ridiculous that they made that legal. They should let them go pitch tents in front of the city councils houses and not the businesses trying to make a living.

I completely agree with this statement. A position or mention in this or any other poll won't mean squat the weekend before Christmas. Yet, I also recall that a couple of years ago some Newton faithful that weren't happy with the SETXsports poll as well as the Enterprise poll when we had a defending state champion West Orange-Stark ranked ahead of eventual state champ Newton in our 4A/3A poll and the Enterprise did the same in their poll.

I don't know about best play caller; I do know he is among the best program builders. Don't look for him to install a bunch of plays to call on game night. He will take the time and care to build an offense. After the open week........

Nah.... In life people are going to say things to you that you aren't going to like. You can either say something back (which is an appropriate response), or say nothing. But if you choose to bonk somebody over the head, whatever was said to you has no bearing on the punishment that you are about to receive. It's a concept that's lost on a lot of people. What if what he said was "Hey, 56.... watch those hands...." or maybe "Hey, 56.... keep your mouth shut... we don't need that...." or even "hey, 56.... you ain't ______, ain't never been _____, and your kids aren't ever gonna be ______" or even called him every slur known to man. It has no bearing on the punishment that the kid is gonna receive for his actions. It's a distinction that a lot of young men don't grasp until they're being judged by a jury of their peers. Mostly because adults will "teach" them that way. It doesn't matter what I call you. There are two lessons to learn... I can't just say anything to anybody and expect to never get smacked in the mouth over it. The second lesson is that IF you take exception to what somebody says to you and you decide to smack somebody, you're going to pay a heavy price.... and the fact that somebody talked ugly to you in no way diminishes the punishment that you are going to receive for your actions.

West Hardin by as many as they want!! HD is overrated!!

WH by a few ,,,., west Hardin’s whole year last year was carried on the back of one little sophomore RB and now from my understanding there is him pluse 2 or 3 more in the back field that at any given moment getting the ball are dangerous, West Hardin has been down the past years but this year seems hd is down, with that being said I was also told WH had 5 unsportsmanlike penalty’s against them against acadiana 3 of which brought TD’s back and that’s an easy way to loose a game, this is always a hard fought game between both schools but WH takes it this year I think they just got a little better “horses in there stable” with a little more experience where it matters

WH wins this one by 14. HD wins one game vs the cripple and the blind and they are state bound with a bunch of freshmen. West Hardin is senior heavy and wins easily!

It would be nice if they balanced the 3 schools and played each other. I figure that would help travel cost as well since all of your sports would have 2 of their opponents across town. The way it is right now with all 3 in different districts is not ideal in my mind. Would make some nice, healthy competition along with some natural rivals. All of those are fun things when your in high school. Maybe that is just a pipe dream though. Lee is smaller in size than Sterling and GCM so maybe the best we can hope for is Sterling and GCM to be the same size and Lee to be the smaller school. We shall see.... It would be interesting to see a district with GCCISD, Barber's Hill, Dayton, and Crosby all playing each other one day, but first things first is GCCISD has to all be in one district.
