The man has a Masters degree and any idiot would know that if you've met all of the requirements to work as an assistant coach, there's no additional requirements one would have to meet to become a head coach, unless the requirement is to be Nincompoop approved by people who never wanted you to have the job in the first place and will never accept you no matter what.
