  1. Past hour
  2. Haley Nutter not pitching tonight?
  3. Today
  4. I don’t care if .500 gets us in the playoffs. Like has already been said……that’s baseball. No matter who you are, if you’re a pitcher, you’re gonna have games like that. Heck, I miss the days of Octavio Dotel / Billy Wagner, but even they lost games. Right now, I’m enjoying the crap out of Peña’s defense.
  5. Yesterday
  6. AggiesWeAre, you are absolutely correct, however the record is still not very good, better than more losses than wins, but still not very good
  7. That’s an understandable response. I’m not posting to advocate for the Amendment. Only to tell my wife’s story if asked, and to let people know the Amendment will be on the ballot. It will be up to the voters as it should. I only found out about the legislation from an email today. So, I haven’t read it yet. Only the email I attached, and a few news blurbs later today. I will point out that the government spends over $10 billion/year for cancer research, and treatments are coming quicker than ever with AI. Universities do not research without grants & they charge an average overhead of 30%. Perhaps the authors thought the taxpayers would get more bang for their buck with a mandated 5% cap if they were going to fund research studies anyway. Attract some of the talent away from other places (Texas Universities —where our tax dollars already go—and elsewhere). I don’t know. None of this will probably be in time for my wife of 36–almost 37–years. I will say this: My tax dollars are spent to provide family restrooms at SOME Texas restaurants stops. I never really thought they were necessary, or even thought much about them at all, because the men’s and women’s restrooms had changing boards. Then, my wife was diagnosed with corticobasal degeneration—which is a very cruel combination of Altzheimers, Palsy, and Parkinson’s. When she became unable to use her entire right side, unable to dress, eat, speak clearly, brush her teeth or hair, bathe, walk, sit, stand, or use the bathroom by herself, I realized that I had never thought about our aging population, and the number of people with dementia and/or Altzheimer’s that have to have assistance in the restroom. I’ve also seen more and more disabled vets who require assistance. Handicap facilities do not help these folks. There are far too few family restrooms, and—like handicap parking—someone is always using them who has no need. I have found that most men are generally okay with me bringing her into the men’s room if I holler at them first. The women don’t allow me to come in with her at all, and they don’t usually volunteer to help. So, she comes in with me. Just one of the things we have to plan for when I take her to DFW area to see our grandkids—who don’t understand what’s wrong with Nanny. The private sector will only fund research when they can make a profit. Big Pharma will always be Big Pharma. The Texas Medical Center is focused on diagnosis & treatment. Not research.
  8. That's baseball
  9. Wimberly walks it off in the 8th on an error with 2 out. Great Season BC
  10. You follow CNN. Nuff said.
  11. Do you realize that Houston is tied for the 4th best record (that's wins and losses) in the AL? Only half a game back of 1st in their division? That gets you in the playoffs btw.
  12. BC Winberly tied at 6 headed to extras
  13. Yes I have committed when things are good also. I am amazed that you never mention wins and losses only stats. There pitching stats are certainly respectable, not counting King and Ort, hitting so-so. They simply have trouble putting the favorable pitching and hitting together. Last night for example, the hitting was ok, however the pitching was really bad. The next game it may be just the opposite or both may be good. Basically as of today there is no consistency and that is why they are 30-26 and yes they are in 2nd place in their division which is nice, however the overall record at this time is not good you need to forget about the stats(I know you can’t because you are a stat person) and worry about the wins and losses. Hopefully they will turn out positive at the end of the season
  14. Bounds RBI double, Tucker 2 run double BC leads 6-3 mid 6
  15. BH loses 4-3 and Smithsonian Valley advances to state. BH tried to come back but fell short. Great season BH !!
  16. BC- Wimberly tied at 3 after 4
  17. So a quality pitcher can't have a bad outing? The results of one game trumps what has been done the rest of the season? Got it. Astros pitching is currently top 6 in AL with a 3.44 ERA. Those two have helped Houston maintain a top 5 pitching this season. Up until the last couple of weeks, Houston pitching has been their strength. Batting was not doing very well but that has picked up and now the Astros are 2nd in AL in batting. As a staff (King and Ort included) the Astros have been good. Could they be better? Yes. But only 5 teams in the AL are performing better than Houston and only one of those teams are in the division (Texas). But you obviously think Houston should be #1 in AL in both batting and pitching. Otherwise, you would not have commented after this 13-3 loss. But that is what we are used to here. No comments from you when things are good, only when it's bad. smh
  18. Y’all must not have watched those 2 last night king didn’t even record an out. It was 3-3 when he came in and 8-3 when they took him out. Ort wasn’t much better If y’all think those 2 are quality pitchers in the major league, y’all must be drinking some crazy stuff. A 4.00 era is not what I would call good A 2 or less yes, bud a 4 no
  19. Pond water was never so weak.
  20. The judges don’t act unless there is a cause for action. The cause is a lawsuit of one kind or another. Skill shortage, man, I’m telling you. Take a debate course.
  21. They reported the Pope had died. So, yes, they are legit!
  22. He’s ignoring one branch and issuing executive orders that should be addressed by the other one. If that’s not a power grab, I don’t know what is. He’s not a dictator. He’s a wannabe.
  23. Breitbart is not a legitimate news source.
  24. Correct with the sarcasm. King and Ort has been doing very well.
  25. Core Inflation Falls To Lowest Rate In Four Years! Prices barely climbed in April, pulling the annual rate of inflation down toward the Federal Reserve’s two percent target, even while personal income climbed at a rapid rate. The personal consumption price index climbed 0.1 percent in April, the second month in a row in which consumers got relief from inflation that had plagued the economy throughout the Biden administration. In March, the index showed prices were flat. Impressive don’t you think?! [Hidden Content]
  26. It's a VERY worthy cause for a horribly debilitating disease. It took my Father in law 2 years ago after about 5 years of pain and suffering for the whole family. I said that to say this: It's a $3 billion initial cost from the Texas General Revenue Fund, PLUS $300 million in annual grants for the next 10 years or so unless it gets renewed. It also competes with priorities like education (has anyone heard of the new voucher handout, btw), and infrastructure. Mostly it is taking OUR tax dollars - a lot of them - to handle what is already being handled by the private sector. Texas is already home to world-class research institutions and medical centers, funded through private investment, universities, nonprofits and the like. But God love 'em - politicians including so-called "fiscal conservatives" can't help but stick their noses and OUR money where it doesn't belong. No matter how worthy the cause is, I'm not in favor of this bill. Let the research happen without government overreach.
  27. Lmao. Of course you don’t like Mr. Wonderful. Everyone who tells the truth is a liar to you. So easy.
  28. From the article: “The permitting process for infrastructure projects of all kinds has become, essentially, a never-ending gauntlet that few projects can survive. There are several reasons for this, one of which is the expansive reading that activists and courts have given the National Environmental Policy Act. NEPA requires permitting agencies to analyze environmental impacts before proceeding with projects. That is a feel-good principle that, in practice, has often brought progress to a screeching halt. For many years, liberals have used environmental legislation not to safeguard the environment, but to block progress in general. The Court is finally on to them.” [Hidden Content]
