@Big girl - This is typically the common denominator - They don't comply with the cop. I preached this during the "unarmed black male" period before and around covid. BLM could march, protest and blame the police for black folks getting killed by the police OR they could spend all that protest money on a campaign to persuade blacks and minorities to simply comply. Think about how far the 90 million in revenues in 2020 would have went towards advertisements and programs to convince people to comply.....because if you think about it, all those protest, all the burned buildings and vandalism during that time, not one law was changed.....

This is a result of the mayor of Minneapolis refusing to let his police force support ice operations by providing crowd control while ice agents arrest people that have broken the law. Random agitators are running up on ice agents and getting too close to ice operations. This is all on the Minnesota Governor and Mayor of Minneapolis. The billions of dollars in fraud in Minnesota has a lot to do with whats going on there.

I am liking me some Bucky Ball but I need to see what they do these next few games against some stout competition. My Aggies have been fortunate enough to have only played one ranked team (lost to Tennessee) thru the first 20 games (16-4). It's definitely a good start and one that most wasn't expecting after Buzz left and took most of the players with him. A&M is at #21 Georgia Saturday, then at #17 Alabama, home for #16 Florida and Missouri, then at #15 Vanderbilt. This stretch will tell us where we are as a tourney team.

They definitely each have one of the most unguardable players in the county, albeit at different positions. The Flemings kid is almost impossible to stay in front of and Toppin has some of the best footwork you will ever see at the collegiate level.

IMO UofH and Texas Tech are the same team without uniforms. They are a mirror image of each other.

I’m a huge fan of Del Conte and think he’s a helluva an AD. He was also more of a basketball guy prior to coming to UT so far be it from me to criticize any hire he makes. But Miller is pretty much the opposite of the Bucky Ball hire (i.e, big name, splashy-type hire). Different approach, often times “safer” both in results on the court and in justification by the AD. Time will tell how each hire plays out. In terms of recruiting at this level, I’m not sure how much coaching comes into play anymore. I’m afraid wayyyy more often than not, it simply comes down now to who brings the biggest “bag.” I also have no idea how the NIL for basketball stacks up with these two schools. On that note, I think Grant McCasland has the easiet recruiting job of any coach in the state now. If Cody Campbell is willing to pump a few million into softball, I gotta think Tech hoops is gonna have the biggest NIL fund of any of the Texas schools. )If only Chris Beard hadn’t thought the grass was greener…) Speaking of the Red Raiders, read yesterday that Duke, U of H and BYU have a combined 5 losses this season. 3 of those are to Tech…

Not a fan of that guy. I am probably biased there too but I don’t have a lot of respect for guys that sacrifice their friends to attempt to hold on to their job a little longer. Tim Kaine was a top assistant of his for years and was widely credited for getting Ja Morant to Murray State (without which, I’m not sure McMahon ever gets the LSU job). I half expected them to can him after last season and try to bring back Will Wade.

I wanna see how well he recruits after this 1st season in comparison to Sean Miller. Also: (random) wth is going on at LSU? I keep getting told that HC is on the hottest of seats right now. How long has he been there?

I am admittedly biased because I am fairly tight with one of his assistants who was also with him at Samford. But this appears like it could be a tremendous hire by Alberts. Bucky wasn’t a “sexy” type hire that many Power 5s are tempted to make. He had a really good 5 year run at Samford but that was his first collegiate job after being a very successful HS coach. That’s not the “safest” of hires for an AD in the SEC. One sign of a great coach is who he hires as his assistants. My buddy aside, I loved the Kyle Keller hire. I always thought he was exceptional at SFA with obvious roots in the state. I was hoping he might bring in Joe Jones, one of the all time Aggie greats on the court who is a very well-respected coach now in his own right. But staffs are often tricky, especially for new hires so maybe he will get to come home in the future.

47 days is not enough training for any LEO. The interaction with the community reflects how they have had limited training. The use of the OC/CS spray tells me they haven’t been properly trained in the use of less than lethal. You are trained to never disperse at the distance these officers are deploying aerosol into the eyes of citizens. The way these officers stack the door upon entrance of an home and the way they position their vehicles when they stop vehicles is not in line with adequate training. Lastly before weapons are fired you always check your cross fire. After action review will show a lot of mistakes were made. I think you don’t know what executing is. But as to why he was shot, I know that one officer yelled “gun!”, and within a second or two of that another officer disarmed him, during which the gun went off. I believe the officer who fired the shots either saw the pistol taken and in the struggle mistakenly thought that the victim had pulled it from the holster, or didn’t see the gun but heard “gun” and then almost immediately heard the shot and thought the victim was pulling the trigger. I don’t think the victim “deserved” to be shot, and I don’t think it should’ve happened under these circumstances, but I do think there’s going to be a pretty strong argument for ruling the shooting as justified. It’s not really any different than a lot of the cases we see where some kid who’s afraid of the cops runs when he’s pulled over for speeding or fights the cops because they’re busting him on a misdemeanor marijuana charge. The situation escalates needlessly and all of a sudden something that shouldn’t have been a big deal at all puts a cop in a situation where they have to make a split-second decision based on the information they have and their reasonable belief that they’re in danger. Oftentimes when we can go back and look at it from a different angle (and in slow motion), the cop could’ve done something different. But they wouldn’t have had to make a split-second decision if the person they were dealing with didn’t put them in the situation to begin with. Sometimes cops get it wrong, and sometimes it’s still justified. I think that may end up being the case here.
