  1. Past hour
  2. Ditto… im still working in Bmt….and plan to stay for another 13 or so years.
  3. I worked in inner city Beaumont for 15 years, exclusively with families below the poverty line. Lots of them do things right, but lots of them abuse the system. To pretend the abuse isn’t rampant is silly. As someone who devoted what will end up being around half of my professional career to helping and working with the impoverished, I have no issue with more restrictions on what government handouts are used for. Nobody should starve, but other people’s tax money shouldn’t be spent on luxuries.
  4. I guess we'll see the new pitcher Rooney tonight. Just maybe he will come in handy. Paredes has opted for Rehab instead of surgery, Said he doesn't want his season to end. Also Singleto has signed on again with Stros for minor league Sugarland
  5. They are making this game a bullpen game in order to give some of the starters extra rest. Probably see Houston use 5-6 pitchers in this game. Gives Brown 6 days and will make the start in the opener at Yankees. Will also allow Arrenghetti to pitch the second game on Saturday and Framber on Sunday. I personally like this move.
  6. Why in the world is Okert starting tonight. Crazy
  7. Today
  8. This is a horrible idea. If you want to do something, create COOP grocery stores like we have in rural areas. Trade some time working in said COOP for discounted groceries. Basically, have memberships & have the members help each other. Plenty of work is required from dockwork, to stocking, inventory control, checkout, janitorial, accounting, pricing, etc. Workforce is provided, discounts are provided, and labor skills are gained. Free market competition is still maintained. Win all the way around with very little government involvement—if any. That’s about all I have to say on the matter.
  9. You really should quit while you’re behind. This ISN’T civil disobedience. It’s dereliction of duty. It’s a civil offense according to the Texas Constitution, and CAN result in expulsion. The link you posted is great. But, it points out minimum requirements on timing & procedures for implementation. Nothing is written anywhere in the Texas Constitution about not having redistricting on a shorter time basis. Redistricting MUST be done every 10 years after the national census. It could be done every other year. Nothing prevents it. There will be lawsuits either way. It DOES NOT take a Constitutional Amendment. Not sure where you’re pulling all this stuff from, but it must be dark in there. In Texas’ history, only one Party has ever used the quorum break option, even though—historically—they’ve been the majority in Texas. Democrats have used this ‘nuclear option’ four times. 1870, 1979, 2003, and 2021. Now, we have five times. Republicans have NEVER used this option, even though they have actually been the minority Party in Texas for the majority of its history. You say Republicans in Texas are acting like ‘occupiers.’ Interesting. I say they were voted in to represent their constituents, and are the clear majority in Texas. I may not like this redistricting idea at this time. I think it opens a can of worms that don’t need to be opened. But, it’s legal. I could even argue—with the recent population growth—it may be appropriate to relook at the timing of redistricting in general. But, I think it should be something done in regular session & not rushed through at the whims of DC. So far, you’ve been posting a lot about this with very little real, accurate info to back up your posts.
  10. [Hidden Content] I believe you posted this link - everything you wanted to know about redistricting. IF Greg Abbott is breaking any rules or laws, point them out.
  11. Like it says here: They know exactly what would've happened had they not returned. We only need FOUR more to return to get a quorum and I'm almost positive they will by Friday. They can't afford to fight this.
  12. Can you cite those “Texas rules”, please?
  13. We can respectfully agree to disagree, I hope. Redistricting is not a bill. It is a separate function of the legislature. We’d have to have a state constitutional amendment to change how it’s done. [Hidden Content]
  14. and by Texas rules he will get 5 seats. Democrats will return at some point...... All 38 Texas house seats are up for reelection in Nov 2026 If the people don't like what they have done, they will get voted out. THAT is how it is designed to work......not running off like a bunch of children
  15. The Weasel in an interview today with CNBC: ”I got the highest vote total in the history of Texas, as you probably know. And we are entitled to five more seats.” Entitled? Really? Republican- the party of entitlement. Who’s driving our Texas legislature?
  16. I know all about civil disobedience. I just don't see this as the same. I also do not think redistricting should be on this bill. That should be on a separate bill all on it's own or not even put on a bill. Let the voters decide.
  17. FBI Director Kash Patel Tapped to Help Texas Track Down and ARREST Fugitive Democrat Lawmakers Who Fled State to Block Redistricting Vote! [Hidden Content]
  18. I’ll never support Trump. If he gets a third term without a constitutional amendment I’m gone. This won’t be The United States of America any more. “Concessions from an occupying power”. The republicans in the Texas Lege are ruling like occupiers. Quorum rules exist for more than one reason.
  19. Who fires them for not showing up? The voter or the governor? It’s not done regularly because it is an extreme measure. Civil disobedience entails going against the law, but in a nonviolent manner. The sit-ins across the south in the 50’s and 60’s are a prime example.
  20. After my college day post, you may want to re-think that lol
  21. We do live in a have versus have not society....we can never all be equal. I was not the smartest guy in my class. I've worked hard and provided my Son everything he could want. I think everyone can do the same with effort. I TRULY believe everyone is equal, it's the decisions that are made that make the difference. I may have been able to be as rich as Elon Musk, but when I went to Lamar, I decided to party, have fun, drink beer at the Setzer center (that's how old I am) - and date as many women as humanly possible......and I successfully completed those goals and have some great memories. Sadly, graduating college was not something that was important to me back then, and I had to work hard to over come that. I didn't want anyone paying for my bad decisions and I don't want to pay for someone else's bad decisions.
  22. Actually I do.........I even refreshed myself and read this [Hidden Content] So, it is the refusal to obey the demands or commands of a government or occupying power, without resorting to violence or active measures of opposition; its usual purpose is to force concessions from the government or occupying power. So in this case, you think it is ok for the Government to oppose the Government because one side can't get their way? Are you going to support Trump when he stays in office a 3rd term and exercises his civil disobedience? The "Government" needs to play within the rules or resign.....
  23. I get that. But if Reps (both sides) were to do this all the time without any immediate repercussions, then how can legislature work fluidly? I can certainly understand voting someone out because they no longer rep your beliefs and values. But I don't need to vote someone out if they don't show up for work. That should be handled accordingly and immediately. Just my opinion. Would feel this way if the sides were reversed.
  24. People don’t abuse food stamps…. yeah, right. Head in the sand. Lmao
  25. Nothing wrong with what he said, you simply live in the pathetic world of reading “woe is me” into every thing that is said, especially if it comes from someone that won’t openly declare hatred for Trump. We could use more Hippys in the world and less victims like you.
  26. Surely Buna will better than last season.
