The NFL and NCAA have placed restrictions on what athletes "tweet" about. Do you think the UIL and/or school districts should crack down on this activity?

I had never used Twitter until someone mentioned on here that a GCM player had  tweeted  about the Nederland game. So I checked it out. WOW!

These are high school kids. They probably don't even have twitter accounts lol.

You'd be surprised. 20% of twitter users are middle high and high school students. (12-17 years)

And parents would be suprised about what they feel compled to tweet about. I assume most think thier rantings are private when they are public record.

Yep, the less you put out on the internet, the less chance you have of it biting you in the a$$! Never understood these people that post pictures on facebook of them getting drunk or dressed in something slutty looking. If I was an employer, i would check every potential employees facebook/twitter before I hired them. I dont care what their credentials are, but if they are dumb enough to post stupid stuff online, then they are too dumb to work for me.

Nope, that is their parents' business.

More like celebrities and such. Parents know less about technology and social networking sites and status updates than there kids do. Twitter just isn't cool yet. Its like facebook was in 2000-2006 lol.

I am a parent and know plenty about technology.  My children get on the internet with my direct (sitting next to them) supervision.  Period.

You would be surprised because my kids all have twitter accounts as do almost all of their friends.  Most kids do not have their tweets private so that their friends can retweet them and such.  Lots of kids post things on twitter that they wouldn't on FB.

They are 7 and 5, but that will not change as they get older.  And they won't have cell phones either!

I agree! My children don't have twitter but do have facebook and they have phones....I am the nosey mom that checks both! I log into their facebook and I read their text messages because it is my responsibility to make sure they are not being bullies or disrespectful!
