Vidor Football Outlook ??

Texas High will open the season this year in Lufkin against the Vidor Pirates. As a Texas High fan we hear very little in this part of the state about Vidor. I was wondering what is the outlook for the Pirates is this season? Last year in Longview, Texas High won in overtime against Vidor, in a game that could have gone either way.

Any information will be appreciated.

Well were certainly a different team. We lost 4 starters on offense and 3 to 4 starters on defense. But we do have a lot of players returning including all three of our backs and two of our linebackers, both safety's and both cornerbacks so our defense doesn't look bad. And thats about it. Any info on The 2011 Texas High Team would be greatly appreciated as well. Thanks.

vidor will go as far as the o and d line take them got enough talent in the backfield on both sides of the ball to make the playoffs prob. not a district champ. contender but maybe the 3rd or 4th spot but as easy as they could do that they could also be the doormat of the district it all depends if the line can handle the season havent heard anything at all bout the o or d line but with vidor the is what will carry or sink them, look at the years vidor has been good the line has been there and the years they havent the line wasnt there, i believe it was either 03 or 04 when they had all the talent in the backfield culbert, obanion and sherrod but no line that might have been the best backfield vidor has had in a while but they couldnt find a hole to run through so good luck to mathews and the vidor pirates hope for a competive season

Texas High should be stronger on defense this year. The question mark is the offense. Texas High will have to replace Kody Sutton at running back, and find a new QB. The Tiger JV went undefeated last year so there is some young talent coming.

Another question will be how all the new coaches mesh together. I think Texas High lost at least four coaches this year.

I know the O line and D line is very important for Vidor this next season as it always is, but can anyone tell me about the backfield for Vidor? I beleive they run a slot-t don't they? Any info. on the individual backs would be very helpful, for example slotback, fullback, halfback. What can we expect to see next season from these ball carriers? Also my sources tell me the quarterback last season was a senior, who looks good to replace him? Again any info. on these players will be greatly appreciated.

Ok, I'll give a bit of a sneak peak on the Vidor preview. LOL!

David Bollinger (119 carries-652 yd, 4 TD in 2010) will be the slotback

David Smallwood (100 carries - 599 yd, 4 TD in 2010) will be the halfback

Brentlyn Clark (120 carries - 695 yd, 9 TD in 2010) will be the fullback

Going into the summer, it looks like Austin Rodriguez will be the QB in 2011.
