My apologies to Ryans Dad

Recommended Posts

Guys, I want to take this moment to personally apologize to Ryans Dad, unfortunately I let myself get pulled into an argument with WTB and I made the assumption that he was a family member of Ryan Hughes by the way he was speaking, he ISN'T, in that I was wrong.
More importantly I implied that Ryans' dad was, in the words I said "I understand from others that his dad is pretty adamant that he played QB" if you know what I mean. THIS COMMENT WAS OUT OF LINE ON MY PART AND I HUMBLY APOLOGIZE. I have talked with him privately and both apologized to him and explained my position on his son, as I told him, I am a fan of his sons abilities and I think he understands what I originally meant when I said he ought play running back. As I stated earlier to WTB who was in full goading mode, by my saying OUGHT, that is meant as pure speculation, not armchair coaching. Mr, Hughes is actually a very nice, respectful guy, nothing like what I unfortunately and unjustly spouted off. I am actually a huge fan of Ryans' abilities and like I told his dad, I believe this will be his best year yet.
Again Mr. Hughes, I'm sorry.

A good man is a man when he is humble and honest. I appreciate the gumption you have to write this. Sometimes we state our opinions and thoughts, but in a way we didnt mean to be negative.

Commend you on your honesty and integrity very much. We all say things without always saying them the way we mean them from time to time.

I appreciate and accept the apology.  We're all fans and all very competetive, I know it's easy to say anything on this forum.  Ryan has been working hard this off season and wants nothing more than the team to be successful and unified.  As a QB dad, I've had to develop a thick skin because you're son is always under a microscope and sometimes you just have to bite your lip and move on.  One thing I'd like everyone to remember, you can't judge a community by the actions or comments of a few.  99% of the people everywhere are great and we should give everyone the benefit of the doubt and not be influenced by those few.  Thanks again.  Chuck Hughes

Well said. Also, I have played and watched a lot of football and your son is very talented. Lumberton plays hard. Wish you all the best and hope he gets to further his career after this year. He looks to have the ability to play somewhere.

Raideroldtimer, you were not offensive in that thread and I always enjoy reading your comments on here.

I agree with everyone here, it is nice to admit one's mistakes.

    • He actually had a pretty solid year for a sophomore starting in that district. I can assure you, it hasn't hurt his recruiting at all and that will only improve with the move back to the Wack.
    • If Crumedy eventually has bigger aspirations than being in Jasper, every aspect of the program will be looked at when someone interviews him for any job. He knows that. The mindset needs to be that any time someone wears a Jasper uniform, that they're doing everything they possibly can to win. It matters.
    • This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up It's a poll but I could definitely see this as realistic.   From the article: Catholics in the United States have swung dramatically against President Biden in recent years, now boasting a significant statistical break towards his GOP challenger. Pew Research released on Apr. 30 a report exploring support for presidential candidates sorted by religious affiliation. The poll found that 55% of Catholics support or lean towards supporting former President Donald Trump in a head-to-head against Biden. Conversely, only 45% of Catholics support Biden in the same one-on-one pairing. The 12% margin of support in favor of Trump marks a significant shift from 2020, when he held an extremely narrow lead — 50% to 49%. Biden currently leads among Hispanic Catholics with a narrow 49%-47% split, but the close contest marks a major shift rightward for the demographic. In 2020, a similar poll from Pew Research found Hispanic Catholics preferred Biden to Trump with a staggering 67%-26% split.
    • You said a lot there. Truthfully, that is the root of the issue. Who cares what a kid thinks about how coaches are running a program? Kids play, coaches coach. For some reason, parents have this backward in a lot of places and its wreaking havoc.
    • He's already stated he's a huge Clinton fan.
