I'll just say that if the defense can play a full game like they did in the first halves against Lumberton and against Ozen it will be a close game. We just have to keep that intensity up for four full quarters. GO PIRATES!!!!!!! (The "Monday QB/Coach" has spoken!  ::) )
LCM easy! It's not hard to play good vs losing teams! LCM is on a whole other level than Vidor... Vidor will be lucky to score 14. and will be even luckier to keep LCM from running it up.
Losing team? We're 2-1 in district. You know, district? The games that actually mean something? Ring any bells? Pre-district games are for sharpening skills and getting plays down. Only district games are the games that matter. And, in those said games that matter, we have a winning record. Even if you beat us, we'll still be at .500 in district.
Wow for someone that kills the coaches like you do I would figure you would have thicker skin.   :'(  Remember you heard it here first.  ("Monday Morning QB/Coach")  Man you cant even get the name/quote right and you call yourself a writer.  :-*
Sorry, TP. I don't hang onto your every little word exactly as you write them on here.  ;)

 3. Great game. A defensive game in the first half and an offensive score fest in the second half. I liked the way we came out throwing early and not waiting until the fourth quarter to try and score with the pass. Once the run started working in the second half we stuck with it. Some had some crass remarks about me saying that we should pass earlier after the Lumberton game last week. But, what do you know? It worked for a score to a wide-open receiver. I guess some of that "Monday QB/Coach" ain't much of an insult now is it? (Yeah, you know who you are.  ;D) It is called stating the obvious. And, while the defense did get lax in the third quarter, they didn't give up and got the game into a winnable situation in the fourth. While I agree with Comeaux about the arm tackles, we got a lot of sophomores out there and they are improving. Should make for an interesting next two seasons... Let's get ready for the Bears next Friday. GO PIRATES!!!!!!!
 4. Congrats to the Raiders. Hard fought game and good win. Once the second half started, you could tell the Lumberton coaching staff had made adjustments. They found a weak link on the right side and just pounded the crap out of it the rest of the night. Everytime they ran to the right in the second half they picked up huge chunks of yardage. And two touchdowns. As usual, we waited until it was too late to start throwing the ball. Dozier is a good QB. Why don't they let him throw? Oh, I'm sure someone will make the arguement about him getting intercepted. Well, what do you expect? We never let him throw until we are playing helter skelter at the end of a game. The opposing defense will get more interceptions when they KNOW HE IS GOING TO PASS! DUH! Running the Slot-T does not mean you can't throw the ball. We could be throwing throughout the game and keeping the opposing defense guessing. But we don't... Congrats again to the Raiders. We were outplayed, and out coached, last night.
 5. I see a close game between the two. If the defense shows up next Friday like it did against Nederland, I'll give us the edge by a touchdown. Pirates - 21 Raiders - 14 Here's to an injury free game... GO PIRATES!!!!!!!
 6.
Great  job Pirates!!!!! Defense was much improved..Hats off to the secondary players and coaches you could tell they have really been working hard the last two weeks and it showed.
Man, I was about to say the exact same thing. The defense that looked sloppy in the BC and K-ville games looked totally turned around tonight. Sure there were a few miscues. Forney overthrew his receivers a lot ... which helped us out since we were giving them ten-yard cushions. But, the way we were swarming to the ball for the most part tonight was impressive. Way to go team and coaches for using that bye week wisely to tighten up things on the defensive side. As for the offense, well, what can I say? Other than the kneel-down before halftime with three seconds on the clock instead of trying for another field goal, I thought the offense was really doing what it does best tonight. The kicking game left a little to be desired, but everything looks better when you pull off a win. I'm sure he'll be practicing from the hashmarks a lot more this week after tonight. LOL!  ;D But, overall, good job Pirates. Now let's get ready for Lumberton...
 7. I was talking to another Vidor supporter yesterday and asked him if he thought Vidor had a chance to beat Nederland. He said that Vidor has two chances: Slim and none.  :D But seriously, if Vidor can patch up the defensive side of the ball to defend a lead, we do have a chance. But that is just the thing. We have to score first and force three-and-outs on defense. The slot-t works great if you can pull that off as it burns the clock like crazy. Makes it hard to comeback in a game though. Of course, I'm preaching to the choir on this one...  ;D
 8. This is just horrible news to hear on a Friday night. My prayers go out to the Garrett family. May God be the comfort for them in this time of loss.
 9. I predict a sick feeling in my stomach. And, it won't be from too many chili-cheese fries. The Slot-T offense is not good for playing from behind as it uses too much clock. If Vidor can score first and force some three and outs, we have a chance. But, our defense hasn't forced any team to have to do anything this season yet. I say yet because there is still hope. We are hurting because of the defensive side of the ball. Plain and simple. My heart says Vidor (and always will), but my head says Nederland gets the W. At this point, I'm just hoping we can keep it close.
 10. In all seriousness, this is not the worst crew I've ever seen. The worst crew I ever saw was when Livingston played Nederland, in Nederland, two years ago. I think they were from up around Dallas or somewhere. (Nederland fans correct me if I'm wrong.) The game started at 7:30 and did not get over until 11 p.m. It took them forever to place the ball. Once, both teams were on the field for kickoff ... and the ref was still standing on the sideline holding the ball, lost in la-la land. That was the worst crew I had ever seen. The guys in BC this past Friday were Albert Einstein's compared to those guys.
 11.
Cats are to confident!!!! Pirates by 3 claws. ;D
[Hidden Content] ;D But seriously, I think we can turn things around by district. I think we'll see some much-improved defensive play this week.
 12.
As a member of the local chapter I take offense to your comments. I have never heard anyone in our chapter say anything bad or negative towards coach Mattews or the Vidor program. The only thing true in your statement is he doesn't use our chapter. If you call us bad officials that fine, you are allowed to have an opinion. My opinion is your head would explode if you tried to call a game. But I consider it an insult and a slap in the face to be called a cheater. The statement that he can't get a fair game is a bald face lie. I put in many hours of training, reading the rules book (ever seen one?) going to classes, clinics and discussing situations with fellow officials because I love the game. The only teams I pull for are in college or the pros. If any body tells you he can't get a fair game from the refs he's making an excuse for losing. Good luck with the guys you get, they work hard too.
Like I said, I've heard things. And, this was from a few years ago. So, like I said, to check on the talk I've heard being true, you'd have to talk to the coaches. All I know is that for certain reasons Mathews decided it was in better interests to use refs from outside the Golden Triangle. End of story. Take offense all you want, think I'm too stupid to call a game or to read a rule book, or whatever it takes to make you feel better. But there is a reason for decisions made. And, it is not to get an excuse for losing.  ::)
 13. It is sad that we have to get crews from Houston. But, Mathews could never get a fair game from the Beaumont chapter. From things I've heard, some even hated him personally. So, he quit using them. I don't blame him for that. If what I've heard in the past was really true, well, then it is just pitiful that the Beaumont chapter could not be professional when calling a Vidor game. And, no. I'm not going to post what I've heard. You want to know if it those things are true or not, talk to the coaching staff. But, from what I understand, there is a reason we use Houston chapter refs.
 14.
vidor has no chance at all in this game, whatever schools are looking at ford they will get to see the film on vidor cause he will probaly go over 200 easy and maybe 4 tds, vidor goes 0-10 this year. Maybe time for Vidor to go in a differnt direction at head coach?
Whoa, whoa, whoa! Hold on now. Just last week Vidor almost beats Texas High and everyone is singing praises to Mathews, voting him Coach of the Week in the Beaumont Enterprise poll. They lose to BC and all of a sudden it is time for a change? Look, I'm not happy about our this past Friday's outcome either. I said that I'd been told some things before summer practices ever started that didn't make me too optimistic about our chances this year. People started calling me negative. Calling me the worst fan any team could ever have. Etc,etc, etc... But you know what? The BC game proved what I had heard earlier this summer to be correct! In fact, it was right on the money! But, I'm not going to throw this team under the bus. They are young and they are small in some areas, but they are still capable of turning things around. If the defense steps up and does it's part, we have an offense that can beat anyone on the ground. But, true to what I was told, our offense is sputtering, but it is because it is not getting the help it needs on the defensive side of the ball. Coaches are not the ones out there not wrapping up. Coaches are not the ones out there trying to tackle with one hand around the waist. Coaches are not the ones out there refusing to grab ankles and instead grabbing shoulder pads so they can just slip right off. Coaches are not the ones only covering one receiver where three are lined up to to that side on a given play. The defense turns things around, we have a chance in district. We might not make the playoffs, but we won't go 0-10. But it is going to take better effort on both sides of the ball, not just on the offense. We got one more game to get these things squared away before the district games begin ... and those are the ones that matter. Let's not get out the tar and feathers just yet, okay Gilly?
 15. I went out on a limb and made a prediction for the BC game. And, man, that crow tasted horrible. I'm not doing that again.  ;D At this point, I'm not making any predictions for this game. I can cross my fingers and hope, but that's about it. I don't even want to to think about the end score. If adjustments are not made, this will be a long season akin to those of the 1980s...
