That's on the coach. Why are the 2 kids even back there?

you have to put them back there to cover the ball if its short cause its a live ball and if it stop before or in the endzone the kicking team can just pick it up and run it in.  He done right by catching the ball he just forgot to kneel it or get out of bounds.

A field goal attempt is not live once it crosses the line of scrimmage unless the defensive team touches it.

Yeah that sounds right.  So why do teams put a person back deep in the end zone on long field goal attempts?

They can be returned just like a punt. Also, just like a punt it isn't live until it is touched by the defensive team.

Field goals and punts are scrimmage kicks.  Think about a punt that the receiver let roll and the kicking team is going to down it inside the 5.  Same goes for a field goal attempt, both are scrimmage kicks.

In the video they are using HS Federation rules.  In Texas we use NCAA rules.  There are some major differences.

6-3-2-a No inbounds player of the kicking team shall touch a scrimmage

kick that has crossed the neutral zone before it touches an opponent. Such illegal

touching is a violation that, when the ball becomes dead, gives the receiving team

the privilege of taking the ball at the spot of the violation
