I doubt these are in-depth evaluations of the teams, just your basic glance to see who's returning from last year and rank'em that way.  I wouldn't be surprised if these were done before they knew the full rosters of the teams.  Rivals has LU ranked around 290 out of all the 350 some-odd D1 teams.

These magazines (and the people of this board, for that matter) didn't know who was on the team when they were putting together the lists.  When the recruiting class isn't announced until after school starts, one of the consequences is low rankings.

They have updated info and rosters but I still don't put too much into it. Thing I notice is the trend of zero respect.

Well you can't blame them if they look at last year's performance. I guess this just makes for a better surprise this year when we win the SLC. ;D

These predicted standings are very similar to last year's standings, with the exception of knocking SFA down a few notches.  I really don't think there's much difference in talent between the teams anyway so almost any team can get hot and win conference or the SLC tourney.

Those magazines DID know who was on the team. Just because it wasn't "released" to the public doesn't mean the magazines didn't get the roster from the school so they could do their publications. Happens all the time.

Honestly though, the rankings don't mean squat.
