The kid is not used to the heat down here lord have mercy you don't even know the kid and yall are throwing him to the wolves... We have guys who have been here there whole life and they are passing out and not making it through practice. I just was reading the blog from a week and a half ago that Jeremy Johnson and Asim Hicks were treated for heat exhaustion its hot here takes some getting used to and Jeremy grew up here and he is still struggling with the heat. Also, whats the big deal about the enterprise doing stories on the kid its a big story for a team like Lamar to get a starter from the SEC lord have mercy you guys need to relax a little, just because there not doing a write up on your friend or brother or cousin or whatever doesn't mean you have to kill this kid he made a mistake forget about it and move on you need to be worried about the season not the fact that a KID made some mistakes in his life who are you to judge him its not like your perfect and never made mistakes....
Well if/when his 3rd DUI kills your mother, lets see if you have the same opinion of him and the likes of him. After all he is just a KID, so I'm sure you'll find it in your heart to ask him to your home for dinner as a sign you forgive him.  ;)
Can't see how being on the football team has anything to do with whether he is dangerous or not.  Or maybe you'd like to lock him and anyone else who does something dangerous up for life.  I'll let the Fayetteville authorities decide that.
A media day poll of the Southland Conference head football coaches and a poll of Southland Conference Sports Information Directors both predicted LU to place in 8th in the SLC: [Hidden Content]
No surprise.  We have a start-up program that hasn't proven anything.......yet.
 3.
'6"8 325lb OL from Arkansas "If you build it, they will come" ;D
Borther was #1 NBA draft choice?  Left Arkansas after 2nd drug arrest?
 4.
I know, I know!!!! ;D JJ influenced. ;) ;D
Silsbee JJ or Navarro JJ?
 5. [Hidden Content] Good to see Lamar's single season and single game strikeout leader back on the mound.  The single game record had previously been held by Randy Williams whose contract was purchased by the Red Sox over the weekend.
 6. Buna/Lamar now has only one guy in AAA.  Randy is back in MLB and pitched a scoreless inning for the BoSox on Saturday.
 7. This is from Brown's website:  [Hidden Content] Kenyon in the Ivy League.
 8.
Kenyon Spears was recently named assistant Coach at Brown University.  Congratulations to him.
Way to go, Coach K!
 9.
Are you guys stupid?  PLease realize this is a title and Woodard will be calling the shots.  GEEEZ!
And the way you get a guy to leave UTEP for a start-up program is find a way to give him more money -- make him a cooridnator
 10. Buna/Lamar does have two players in AAA.  The way Randy Williams is pitching, can it be long before Boston sees a guy from Buna relieving a guy from Lumberton?  [Hidden Content]
 11. This is the member of the recruiting class I couldn't find a picture of before:  [Hidden Content]
 12. Tidwell announced today that he signed LaMeisha Edwards from Crockett.  Last Lamar athlete I remember from Crockett was Jerald Clark.  Hope she has same impact.  [Hidden Content];   [Hidden Content]
 13. This from the June 17th paper.  Welcome back. DeLOME RETURNS REENERGIZED When RedHawks outfielder Collin DeLome slid into second base in early May, he felt a pinch in his shoulder but thought he could fight through it. Part of that was because of how well he was hitting at the time. After playing in several games after the injury, DeLome went for an MRI and was diagnosed with a partially torn labrum. DeLome was 8 for his last 15 in May before being hurt. “I played with it as long as I could,” DeLome said. “It's one of those things, where as a hitter, seeing the ball that well doesn't happen all the time and I didn't want to stop but my arm was keeping me from doing what I needed to.” DeLome was 1 for 4 in his return. 14. From today's Oklahoma City paper:  CORPORAN, DELOME GETTING CLOSE Catcher Carlos Corporan, who was placed on the disabled list May 5 with a broken hand, is expected to rejoin the team shortly. Outfielder Collin DeLome, who was placed on the disabled list May 11 with a partially torn biceps tendon and a torn labrum, has also resumed baseball activities but is a little further away from returning. But DeLome is likely to rejoin the team soon as extended spring training has ended. “He'll have to get his work in here probably,” RedHawks manager Tony DeFrancesco said. “It'll be nice to get those two back.” Read more: [Hidden Content]

Lamar's FBS options, if they have any, aren't likely to bring any BCS teams to Beaumont.  I checked this year's Sunbelt schedule.  Of 36 non-conference games, the Sunbelt will host 4 games against BCS teams and 7 against non-BCS FBS schools.  The WAC is even worse.  Forty-one non-conference games, 2 home games against BCS teams, and 8 home games against non-BCS FBS schools.  If you want to play the big boys, you have to give up home games and moving to WAC or Sunbelt isn't going to change that.
Technically, all schools at the FBS level are BCS schools, I think you're confusing BCS-schools with AQ-Conference schools. [Hidden Content]
All 11 conferences in the Football Bowl Subdivision are "BCS conferences." The media and others often misuse this term, using the term "BCS conference" to describe an Automatic Qualifying (AQ) conference.

Okay but the point is still the same.  Moving to a bottom -feeding FBS conference won't change home scheduling.

I cant remember what year it was but I do remember when Lamar Took Texas to a final game and was one win away from the Super Regionals, would lover for em to get back to that level!!!
Should have won that game.  Bill Bates (UT 2b) still hasn't touched home plate.
He still hasn't touched home but that last long before there was such a thing as a Super Regional (1984, I think).  Only umplire Tony Patch thinks he did.  For that matter, David Poss DID NOT balk.  Lamar almost made a Super Regional in 2003.  In Sunday games, Trey Rinando who had barely pitched all year (injuries) shut down Texas in game one.  Cards were cruising along in game two when a throwing error on touch third, throw to first dp attempt opened the gates.
 18. DeLome was up to .296 at Oklahoma City (Astros AAA) before going on DL for a strained left bicep.  This article appeared a few days before that.  [Hidden Content]
 19. I'm not surprised that he chose coaching.  It's what he really wants to do.
 20. Injuries apparently caused him to land at FAMU:  [Hidden Content]
 21. From Connecticut, on to prep school, then to FAMU and later JC.  Hope we have him for 2 years. From his prep school days:  [Hidden Content]

 23.
Still playing the 4 non D1 schools. But looks like a pretty solid schedule.
They are exhibition games in August.  Any game is a head start on other teams.  I don't know the rule but they are allowed to do sometime like this every few years.
 24.
Miami not in it?
Yeah, and 7 other MAC teams on the list.  They were about the only one left out.....unless, of course, you were talking about Miami (Not of Ohio).  They should be there too.
