TrojanWarrior08 Posted Saturday at 07:37 PM Report Posted Saturday at 07:37 PM More of the same from the last time they played but then again the way WOS has been playing Shepherd may make it entertaining for awhile. Give me the Mustangs 41-14. Quote
Stangfan#1 Posted Saturday at 07:37 PM Report Posted Saturday at 07:37 PM We got to stop the penalties that's going to hurt us in the long run but Stangs wins this one WOS 48 Shepherd 21 football life 1 Quote

AggiesAreWe Posted Monday at 02:55 PM Report Posted Monday at 02:55 PM Massey projections has this one 42-7 WO-S. Quote

Having just seen HJ, who appears to be pretty even with Shepherd based on both their schedules and H2H, and WOS in back to back weeks, I'll be shocked if this one is remotely close beyond the 1st quarter. Just like last year, Shepherd is going to struggle once they get to the meat of their schedule. And this Shepherd team is not as good as last year's to begin with. Quote
CDub86 Posted Monday at 06:48 PM Report Posted Monday at 06:48 PM 42-6 last year, I’d expect about the same this year. Definitely not the same Shepherd team this year. Considering all the hype they got pre season, they’ve underachieved. Quote

Considering all the hype they got pre season, they’ve underachieved. Same could be said last year, to be honest. They obviously improved a lot the last couple of years, but for all the hype they've had over these two years their best win during that entire period is going to end up being over a Huffman team that's going to finish this season 6-5 at best. AggiesAreWe Posted Monday at 08:25 PM Report Posted Monday at 08:25 PM Being that Shepherd's 20 of 22 starters are seniors, that doesn't bode well for next year. I honestly think this year's Shepherd team is as good as last year's. Quote

I think they are using all the tread on their tires. Those kids play physical, smash mouth football. They just don't have the team speed some of the other division teams have. AggiesAreWe 1 Quote
Boogy1000 Posted 10 hours ago Report Posted 10 hours ago I dont see where Shepherd has played anyone decent outside of Madisonville where they lost 35-0. Super soft schedule. WOS 49-7. Quote
WOSdrummer99 Posted 8 hours ago Report Posted 8 hours ago Does anyone have info on Shepherd live stream? This is the only way i know to follow this game. Audio only. Quote
scat_trap Posted 8 hours ago Report Posted 8 hours ago Let's tap the breaks about saying Shepherd is underachieving this year and look at things historically. This current staff has won 1 of the 2 ONLY playoff games ever won in school history. The other time came in the 60's. I don't care if it was when they dropped to 3A...that's a lot of years of existence without a playoff win. Not too long ago, there was an athlete there that played for the Jets and the Steelers, one that I believe is still pitching in the majors, and had one on that team start at Sam Houston and they didn't win a playoff game...even though on paper they should have. Shepherd is one of those places where you rarely see people get out of there (or the surrounding area) and go make something of themselves. What I'm getting at, is when you see Shepherd, you think they should be better than they are. The issue is a community mindset that keeps them from being better at anything than they are. Are there good kids there? Absolutely! Are there good people there? Absolutely! Until you look at the dynamics of what really goes on in there I'd hold off on the underachieving part. There's a maroon and gold school not too far away that, on paper, has better demographics than Shepherd and the same could be said about them underachieving in all things. CDub86 1 Quote

There's a maroon and gold school not too far away that, on paper, has better demographics than Shepherd and the same could be said about them underachieving in all things. My statement was “based on the hype that was given pre season”. Shepherd was talked about and put in the contender discussion and not just by the community but by journalists that cover all of THSFB. Looking at them in that context, yes they’ve underachieved. Now that being said, I do agree with your statement 100%. I am a Shepherd grad and the teams from the past 2 years are hands down better than any team I saw in my 18 years there. There have been several players from various sports come from Shepherd and “make it”. Which is great for the community. Totally agree with your statement about the maroon and gold team as well, also happens to be the team I currently follow. They’ve underachieved year after year with basically the same demographic. To me, it doesn’t seem like sports has ever been a priority on the Prairie. It’s just something they do. That seems to be changing with this new AD and I think the future is brighter for the programs and a community that shows up. Quote

He recently improved the mic quality and used software to cancel the background noise. The HF game was much better. Barely heard the band and my friends cowbell standing right next to him. Really I'm not pleased that the school doesn't have their own free broadcast. Look at PNG or PAM for example. Or even Liberty or La Porte. All that press box for VIPs is ridiculous. I know they have capabilities and Mustang Broadcast Network working cameras at the game. But where's the stream? It's on the scoreboard. Might be used by Hudl too. Although nobody wants to pay to watch 3½ quarters like what happened few weeks ago at Bay City. Mustang Nation deserves better. No, we deserve the best. Last year SETXsports and Aaron Ward followed the Stangs all the way to At&t. He did a great job in the playoffs. Idk the process behind the scenes with the contracts and such. But I wish the audio broadcast would've stayed here. I also think the schools doesnt really care because they allow Facebook live every week. Quote

We inquired about it. We were told that a schoolboard member wanted this guy (they are friends) to do the audio broadcasts. We heard he promised a lot of things for the school district but most haven't come to fruition. He is a teacher at PN-G and does this on the side. He used to do Vidor several years ago and then Hamshire-Fannett last year. The quality is just not that good. HF was never really happy with him. They are very pleased we are now doing their games. I know for a fact the WO-S coaching staff wanted us to continue with the broadcasts but they weren't allowed to make that decision. Quote

Good info to know. I will inquire more next time i see one of them. Buddy deals cant be the norm. Personally I have no problem with Brandon. Gary Stelly set the bar pretty high and spoiled us. Kinda like the HOF coaches we were accustomed too. I remember listening to Kogt while at CT last game vs China Spring in Tomball. There was a special guest in the booth that night. Amazing live analysis. Almost like he knew the team already. But I digress. This week the Mustangs shouldn't take this game lightly. Shepherd has a d1 commit to Stanford. 6'1 300 lb DL Brayden White Surprisingly to some... we do not. Khelvy has earned an offer from TT. DeSoto Sr RB SaRod Baker is already committed there Quote
