  1. Gotta go with the Lufkin Panthers in this one! This is a big game, no doubt, but I’m hoping the offense has finally found its rhythm and the defense continues to play at the level we’ve seen all season, coming off back-to-back shutouts. GCM relies heavily on its dual-threat quarterback, and containing him will certainly be a key to the game. However, I believe LP's defense will be up to the challenge. Should be a good one, but I’m picking the Panthers! Go Pack!
  2. Yes, West Brook won a state championship in its first year of football, which I believe was 1982. I remember that season particularly well because they advanced in the playoffs following a 7–7 tie with Baytown Sterling, winning the tiebreaker based on having more first downs. Then they appeared again in 2018 and lost a close title game to Longview 35-34. We know that feeling all too well (lol). And yes, two years ago, Lufkin appealed the original UIL district realignment because of the excessive travel distances. Angleton also filed an appeal, and both schools were successful in getting their district assignments changed. As for Smoaky, I agree with you (LOL). That said, there are some really good folks over there who know their Texas high school football. Like any sports forum, every site has its share of characters. That's part of what makes these discussions interesting!
