Shepherd has improved this year, but their schedule has been 5 3A schools without a winning record amongst them and 0-6 Tarkington. It’s kinda hard to know how much better they are until they play a good 4A squad, so we’ll find out this week. I’m gonna say WOS 48, Shepherd 21.

WOS defense will imo never be the same as before the current coach unless a coach that really believes in the 50 defense get hired. That is why WOS gives up so much on defense.Their defense is not as good nor will it ever be again until a better coach comes.

Shepherd has a great offense running the double wing (same as Hardin) and the what may be the best skill player unit in recent memory. Shepherd will also field the single best athlete in the district (Braeden White). Shepherd will have a 1-2 punch from TE and FB in the double wing that will be a tough matchup against any team in the district. The same 2 TEs and FB will also anchor what may be the best DL in the district. 
 

Don’t know if it will be enough to beat a team like WOS but they are going to be a tough out for any of the big 4. Will not be surprised if they pick off a couple of them. Also, 18 starters are JRs.

Just curious as to what qualifies in your mind that Braeden White is the best athlete in the district?

Have you seen all the teams in the district this year?

Im sure they look like giants playing 3A winless programs. I dont think there is a kid on Shepherd who is better than several Mustangs, Tigers, or Longhorns.

Has several D1 offers. Made 1st All District at 2 positions his sophomore year (unanimous at both and beat out Armstrong last year). Also was Offensive MVP of the district in basketball as a sophomore year. 310 lbs and dunking basketballs. Maybe someone else is a better athlete but he is on the short list. 

I can tell you flat out that there is no DL/OL type in the district on his level.

WOS had two hall of fame coaches that both believed in the 50 defense or to say the least a defense minded team. The new coach got the job and did away with that tradition, ask him why. All I know is for 35 plus years of following the Stangs, the good days are over for now and doubt they will be back with this coachin staff. To many it is the coach, not so much the talent.

Coaching period !! They will have a chance to win district but,want go far in the playoffs til a change is made.oil and water don't mix!!

The kid is good but, kelvy Jefferson and the QB from silsbee are to best players in this district easily

Too be fair he said best overall athlete not best player and I think it’s a fair debate.

Johnson is an athlete I would not say he is the best QB in the district. Walker is most likely one of the best Dline man in the district

In Silsbee's case, they defend the run very well. Pass, not so much but getting better.

Shepherd averages 340 yards rushing per game out of the Wing offense. 32 yards passing.

I like Silsbee in that match up.
