Reid Richard barely came off the field in the playoffs during the 2023 season. And, when there is situational use, it’s clear the player has been trained well even in their temporary role. That is true, but you will not see a two way starter under Joseph. Reid Richard played at most 10 offensive snaps a game in 2023.

You don’t have to call him a “starter” - The idea is Joseph is willing to use his tools on both sides of the ball when needed. navydawg31 1

Darth is hitting all the points on what I’m trying express… Don’t recall to many straight 2 way starters and Never coming off the field.. but there is some kids that could be plugged in when we need a big stop/extra pass rush to offensive side with short yardage need that 1-3 yards, extra blocker on the line (jumbo package) and etc.. these are pure examples but things that need to be addressed. Like the elephant in the room Nederland needs to find a quality running back to get #10 a breather and not run him to the ground… Darth Texas 1

I agree. If you have special players. Let them play where it helps the team when needed. Darth Texas 1

Which obviously make sense. Last year for Nederland, Tezeno played both ways and did a good job. Not sure of anyone else. I know Thomas went in on defense on long yardage passing downs. But, you did want him full time on defense.

There is 3 weeks of game film on tape against quality opponents. If nothing changes basketball will come early in Nederland. Reagan 1
outanup Posted September 16 Report Posted September 16 Neuman was all for playing the skilled guys both ways...It's tougher on the big guys, normally situational for them. Mr. Buddy Garrity 1

Big facts! Btw: I seen that man switch up his offense 3 straight seasons to accommodate his talent pool and was successful. tvc184 and outanup 1 1
aki1994 Posted September 16 Report Posted September 16 I know this thread has been derailed but still good discussion. Last week vs LaPorte... #9 Ruffin was playing both ways, LB and RB. On defense he was taking a beating from LT Wolford when he wasn't making plays. By the 4th Quarter he spent a lot of time on the sidelines looking worn down. Darth Texas 1
A BUC 77 Posted September 16 Report Posted September 16 Coaching is a skill. You have to know when to rest certain players, no matter how good they are. Especially the big guys.

cal81 Posted September 16 Report Posted September 16 Nederland could easily be 0-3 right now. The 2 wins were squeakers against 4A teams. KF89 1
A BUC 77 Posted September 17 Report Posted September 17 They could be 3-0 as well. outanup and bulldawg64 1 1

cal81 Posted September 19 Report Posted September 19 Weak non-district schedule. Let's see how they do against much stronger teams in their district.

Big time disagree, WOS as well is not a weak opponent… only one in question was Lumberton at first… but time will tell, I have a feeling they finish top 2 in their respective district. Just like I have Silsbee winning their district as well respectfully….
cal81 Posted September 19 Report Posted September 19 Silsbee and WOS are good 4A playoff teams but there are plenty of 5A and 6A opponents for non-district over in the Houston area. I just thought Nederland was trying to take it up another level or two. I'm not sure the non-district schedule challenges or prepares them for a pretty good District in 8-5A.
