The text messages he sent to kids said nothing about them transferring to NS…this issue was brought about from a piss poor coach (Delaney HC) who had it out for NS! I’ve told this story plenty of times. Learn the facts big dog

Being that you are an arbiter of facts, Is it a “fact” that the coach received a “multi year UIL ban”? Did UIL issue the ban for non-UIL infractions?

Why are you going all out your way to support schools getting a large amount of transfers being able to compete against schools mostly consisting of homegrown talent? It wouldn't make sense to you for those schools to compete against other schools who are doing the same? Seems like you don't have a good sense of fairness.

A coach who hadn’t been employed at NS for even a full year & was running an outside recruiting service on his own.

NS has been dominating for 20+ years and never got hit with a recruiting violation lol please stop reaching.

It's not a reach, it happened, and I wasn't speaking specifically of North Shore. Other sanctions have been handed down to other schools too.

My statement wasn’t referring to anything you posted…simply stating to you the dumb sh*t other posters were posting on here which was indeed stupid & racist. Maybe you aren’t reading the same things as me lol

There's only one poster with the stupid racist crap (maybe two). Don't paint the rest of that with that brush.

It is also a fact that NS has never been sanctioned for such violations before this coached arrived…you missed my entire point lol

Because I’ve been apart of it & understand what actually goes on. Y’all are discrediting these schools & coaches success and the programs they’ve built. Accusing them of cheating with no facts to back your statements.

Is it these schools fault that kids want to be apart of the success these programs have created? Are they supposed to shut the door on these kids? Is it the district’s fault that they value athletics & open their doors to anyone who wants to attend school there.

Tell all the districts who aren’t open enrollment to make their districts open enrollment & let’s see how many power 5 kids are knocking the doors down to attend school there like these other programs. No need to wine & complain about it…kids are transferring left & right at the HS and college level deal with it. Simple

Again, everyone save yourself the time... you can't have a convo, back-n-forth with this guy cause his word is the end all be all.  He's coached at every high-profile school in the state and knows how each and every program and district operates.

You say night he's going to say day.  You say white he's going to say black.

I actually provided facts to back my statements but you didn't want to hear them.  You are tone deaf.  No one will convince you otherwise that your opinion is just biased based on personal feelings and experience.

Also, you seem to ignore that the original suggestions weren't to "close the door on them" but rather ask them to play up a level or two to make it more fair throughout the entire field of teams.

no. what you want is for them to stack teams every year and win state.  then sit there and beat your chest that the coaches "built something"

You know who built something?  Woodville.  PNG.  etc.  That is building something.

His definition of “fact” is: “whatever thought arrives in his mind”. Anything he doesn’t like is called: “not a fact”.

Example: The UIL issuing a multi year ban to a NS coach is not considered a fact, even though it happened and is settled record.

Fine.. just make every single transfer sit a year for varsity competition.  Regardless of the reason.

That should show who's actually changing schools for academic reasons.

Expand

That’s my solution - It would solve 90 percent of the problems and wouldn’t require policing the reasons.

There are reasons other than academic and athletic that kids switch schools. Most moves are not related to either of those but are the result of changing family situations.

unfortunate for those kids but would still benefit texas high school sports as a whole. I think there could be some very cut and dry requirements (a divorce or death certificate, for example) that would allow for a transfer without sitting out. Moving apartments across town to be closer to the better football team and saying you moved because the apt was cheaper just wouldn't be one.

It is usually job related.

Or at least “job related.” Dad takes a new coaching job there… allow it. Dad transfers from the Arlington McDonald’s to the one in South Oak Cliff for no reason, maybe not.

People move all the time for a variety of reasons. The overwhelming majority of people in the state do not work for schools but still experience job changes and frequently have corresponding moves. Many of them have kids that go with them.

The UIL cannot discriminate against kids because their families take new jobs. It is not constitutionally possible to have a "blanket" and "no exception" sit out for one year from sports.

I agree with most of the points you’ve made. But, not sure on this one. Extracurricular participation isn’t guaranteed by the State. Only education at a public school. While the UIL has recently been ruled a pseudo government agency & thus protected from lawsuits, it doesn’t mean they—or their regulated activites— are a part of the ‘education of every child’ guarantee.

Prior to 1981, wasn’t there a blanket policy? I seem to remember there being one when I was in school in the 70’s.

Discrimination against a kid for financial reasons goes well beyond state law. UIL cannot maintain a system that forces families to "stay down" or "not provide" for their families with the threat of not playing sports.
