I like Nederland’s chances against Texas High. Hubert Thomas can score a lot against Texas High. THigh’s defense isn’t anything special, and nederland’s defense matches up well against Texas High’s running back. I think a lot of people might be surprised on Friday.

Texas High is not a running offense.  The Tiger offense is balanced with 50% coming from the run and 50% from the pass. They average north of 450 yds/game. Honestly if Nederland can shutdown THS’s offense, I will be quite surprised. Historically, our run defense has been our biggest weakness. But the Tiger defense is not soft. The story will be told on Friday at Grim.

These types of playoff games have almost always depended on the start for teams like Nederland.  They have to be prepared and get off to a good start. Mistakes and penalties can’t happen.  If Thomas and Sunday step up, it will be a W.  You got this Dogs!

I think the offense will take care of business.  If the defense can play like they did against Lake Creek and PNG then they have a chance.  I'm not sure what happened the past two weeks.  But, the point is -- they are capable!

Nederland needs to get their team to Texarkana early.  After a long drive they need to have time to stretch and get ready for the game.  Tear em up Bulldogs!

I recommend they leave Thursday, stay over night in Bossier City, hit the casinos that night, then be fresh Friday evening.

Heck no!!!  This was before I knew little Ned fell on our side of the bracket.

Lamar?  You're a pretty good fisherman; but some of these guys are way too easy.  Like Rodney Dangerfield once said, "Last time I saw a mouth like that it had a hook in it".

But actually I'm almost beginning to think that you're someone's sock puppet. A WOS fan perhaps?  Or possibly even a Nederland fan having some fun. I don't know, I'm relatively new around here. I'm probably over-thinking it.  Anyway, carry on.

After regulation while head coaches at mid field, the side judge in front of Nederland sideline got his feelings hurt and threw a flag. He threw it with 0 seconds on clock and before the coin toss. Overall, worst officiating in a half you could imagine. Picture Remember the Titans before Coach Yoast stepped in and threatened to expose the refs during the game.

Out of curiosity if the game was over and overtime had not started how could a ref throw a flag. Seems that that would be akin to throwing a flag on a player at halftime. Doesn't make sense. I bet there isn't a rule in the guidebook for such a call? After every quarter before the games the refs all huddle up mid field and have discussions. Why was the ref even on Nederland sidelines in the first place. I have Texan live. Can you see the supposed infraction on the game film. Sounds awful offbeat to put it lightly. Sounds as if the ref was mad about something and determined to insert himself into the game. I have spoke with some Nederland fans at the game and they were all in line with each others story matching what is posted above by glassjoe.

A team can be flagged up to 60. minutes prior to the game and until the officials leave the field when the game is over.

What happened the last 2 weeks is that Nederland wasn’t ready for a change in their opponents offense.  First, the 14 year old runs all over them for 4 TD’s.  Then the backup QB for Montgomery comes in and the Bears score 4 TD’s starting in the 4th Qtr.

#1 Nederland has a few knuckleheads that are mouthed and hit late. you could see it when Barrow coached and you see it now

I was hoping Coach Rich would get rid of it, but it hasn’t happened yet and all those personal foul penalties have really hurt the past 2 weeks, so  I am not surprised a foul was called, someone on the sideline could have been mouthing

Next the Bulldog defense is not good, so it’s not like they weren’t prepared, they are simply not very good

I certainly haven’t seen any post other than mine stating this defense let Montgomery score from 60 yards away in a minute. That should tel how bad the defense is, so if they couldn’t stop Montgomery, how ain the world are they going to stop Texas High I suggest they put Thomas and Sunday on defense as well as offense thiss week

I couldn’t see the secondary too well on the broadcast, but it looked like Ned was in prevent defense in Montgomery’s last drive —- Exactly what Montgomery needed. If I’m right, Ned ceded the mid-range (so, first downs) sideline against a team that needed 60 yards and had no (maybe 1?) timeouts. I may be alone in hating the prevent defense except in Hail Mary situations, but I think if Nederland had lined up in their normal defense in the last drive they would have stopped Montgomery. But I could be wrong about their formation since I couldn’t really see the secondary. It just seemed like those mid-range sideline passes were handed to Montgomery.

    • NRG would be full all day Saturday if y’all wind up with the early game. With y’all’s crowd, LP & Angleton bring good crowds, then Iowa Colony & Randle. Good day of football with different division schools represented. Not a big fan of NRG. But, I have to watch on NFHS anyway as that stadium/parking/restroom situation is very unfriendly for a person with very limited mobility and a large crowd.
    • If you’re asking about more than just the schedule of the rematch—which as Aggie said is up top—I’ll add some more tidbits later on. Purple Reign can add more details about Angleton that he’s more familiar with than me. Really some interesting connections & past histories for both of these clubs. As a tidbit right now—as it relates to a form of your ‘disrespect’ comment—District 3 is generally accepted as the toughest 5A-1 district in the state. They have a Regional Final/State Quarterfinal rematch between their top 2 teams (Denton Ryan & Aledo). The only other 5A-D1 district with a Regional Final/State Quarterfinal between the top 2 teams in the district? 11-5A-1. La Porte and Angleton. Both 3-5A & 11-5A have eliminated competition from 2 other districts. La Porte and Angleton eliminated all four PO teams from 12-5A-D1 whom a lot of experts thought was the next toughest district in 5A-D1 behind 3-5A. The only other ‘Big School’ district that can top this? 23-6A, where all 4 PO teams will replay each other again, and is generally considered to be the toughest district in the state.
    • My apologies for posting non-factual info on the game. Aggy did have FG opportunities but my “between the 20s” was not meant to be an exact measure.
