BISD Memorial Stadium now will be.........

Recommended Posts

Actually, I'm more fond of Durley/Levias Stadium.

Yes I know the stadium on the West Brook campus is named after Alex Durley. But it no longer has varsity football games played there.

I also get naming rights and the dollars that can be used for the school district. That's a very good thing. Just as long those dollars don't end up padding someone's personal pocket.

My point exactly, football in BISD isn't important anymore. The only schools in Bmt are going to get stomped again in Football. What else goes on Football including playoff games, Soccer..... Camps, what else?  should have put a track around it.

Track at that place would have been huge… district meets and area meets would have been hosted there

Yep, $$$ rolling in, all sense isn't common. If you build a stadium without a track, then you must invest in your football programs just my opinion. To show how important Bmt Football is, there are no threads about WB or United. Sad.......

Both schools have track facilities on their campuses.

There are many high school football stadiums across the state that do not have tracks.

Yes, they do have tracks at both campuses, just saying you can host larger meets with a track. I love selling the name licensing to the stadium. Agreed as long as the money is used properly.

One doesn't need a football stadium of that magnitude to host large track meets.

The location would not be good for an Area track meet. Too far east for the other 6A schools.

Thomas is gone, and we all have our opinions of him.   Some good, some bad.

Thomas leaving didn’t fix that district.   It’s still a mess.  I’ve know several coaches that have coached within BISD, from all walks of life, and not one of them has ever spoke highly of the administration.   From the superintendent down to the athletic director.

It’s a shame too.  Those kids and the community deserves better.

    • Funny how “MAGA” is considered a bad thing…. The MAGA crowd….etc…. Whoever doesn’t want to make America Great should leave.
    • That's an interesting take, but considering that an incumbent enjoys a HUGE advantage historically, I think Covey came pretty close to an upset. I don't care one way or the other - the biggest reason being that I live in Hardin County. But I have to think the Trump endorsement got Covey that close in the first place. His only recognition was on a very local level, virtually unheard of before the Trump endorsement. Otherwise, he probably would've lost by thousands of votes instead of a few hundred. Just my observation.
    • I think the interesting point is this… Trump backed candidates do better when Trump is on the ballot. Back in March Covey was up by 3%, and that skirt from Jasper pulled about 10%… and most people believed that her voters would go directly to Covey. Conventional wisdom was that Covey would be up by 10-12 points if all things went according to the pattern from March. That just didn’t happen. Typically turnout is lower in runoffs than in the primaries, and my guess is that Phelan had fewer votes this time around than last, but covey had WAY fewer votes. A friend of mine has been watching a similar runoff in central texas, and the results were similar. The MAGA guy just didn’t turn out the votes this May.    My opinion is that a large portion of the support these Trump guys are just that…. Trump supporters. They’ll vote down ticket according to MAGA directives when Trump is on the ballot, but when they can’t vote Trump, they just don’t show up at all.

    • Then you should have known lots of people said the exact same thing when the alcoholic Democrat Ann Richards was elected way way back in the day. Texas has become redder and redder ever since. People, especially blacks, are waking up and realizing the Marxist Democrats are destroying them. Feel free to hold your breath waiting on your dream to happen though. That would be fun to watch, LOL.
