Woman shot in ankle after gun brought onto bus from visiting Dallas-area school, San Antonio police say

SAN ANTONIO – A night of basketball practice ended in a shooting on the Northwest Side, San Antonio police said.

The shooting happened Wednesday night near Loop 1604 and Hausman at a property that belongs to Northside ISD. The district confirmed none of its students were involved.

San Antonio police said the boys basketball team involved came in from the Dallas area.

Officers say someone brought a gun onto their charter bus after practice.

A woman who is a trainer with the team was shot in the ankle. She was taken to University Hospital.

Police are trying to figure out who fired the gun.

We’ll bring you updates as they become available.

The question......

WHY?????

I think we have ALL are all asking the same question. You are on a school trip surrounded by escorted police on a charter bus. Why would you think you need to have a gun? I see that DISD said they can play but has the UIL made any comments?

This is my question. Dallas ISD has had many issues in the past and this is just another one to add to the table. They are as close to "lack of institutional control" you will ever find in high school basketball. Maybe it's time for the UIL to forbid it and tell them to pack that charter and head home.

He deserves to lose the honor of playing if he did what is alleged. I hope he figures it out and makes better choices moving forward.

He signed to play Football & Basketball in college.  That’s probably done now…. One dumbass decision changed his whole life.

Let’s see, kicked off a basketball team in the state tournament, very likely losing the football scholarship he signed  and facing up to 20 years in prison (according to what charges are filed) because…. He wanted to be cool? He is a felon who always carry guns and just had not been caught? For some reason he felt extremely threatened while at a heavily guarded event?

Obviously there’s nothing even approaching a valid reason for the situation to have happened. He was talented enough to play in the state tournament in basketball and  sign a football scholarship to play in college. Apparently that talent did not extend to his thought process.

And this has nothing to do with Dallas having a lack of institutional control or an undisciplined team, etc. That all might or might not be true but unless somebody in the school district knew this kid was packing a gun, you can’t blame that on them.

 Not his first incident 🤦🏾‍♂️

Once again, program out of control. This was literally last year. Letting them play last night only fortifies the belief that you can have guys like this on and around the team and there will be no consequence when they pop off. UIL was weak with this one. Too worried about blowback and the R word getting thrown around.

    • First pitch about to be in the books.
    • Chester will be the home team tonight.  Neches Tigers will be the visitors.
    • The locals have almost finished firing the first ever Speaker of the House from Southeast Texas upon direct order of Trump and his minions.   It's a sad day... Locals have decided that being represented by the most powerful man in the House didn't mean anything.... they'd rather a political novice to represent this part of SETX.  And why is that?  He wasn't MAGA enough for them.  Who cares that it will hurt locally... What Trump says, goes.     Just yesterday I saw Trump on television demanding that we fire Phelan... How he's a RINO, weak on the border, etc... why?  Because he wouldn't overlook the criminal actions done by Ken Paxton, one of Trump's key supporters in the effort to overturn the 2020 Election and allow Trump to remain in office despite the will of the voters.   Trump never even mentioned Covey's name, and I doubt he would recognize Covey if Covey walked up with a cup of coffee.  Who cares that it's bad for SETX?  Not the R voters from SETX!   Then I saw Covey's preacher on a different ad tell a bald face lie.  Why should Phelan be fired?  "He put Democrats in positions of power in the House."  Really?  That's been the position of BOTH parties for as long as anybody can remember.  They ALWAYS give the minority party committee chairmanships.  But in 2022 the Rs decided that the practice should stop.  Democrat voters should not be allowed a voice in the crafting of legislation if there is a single majority Republican seat in the House, according to the Rs.  Representative Government?  Never heard of it, huh? Never did I believe that we'd have an abortion ban, constitutional carry, huge cuts for school property taxes, and Texas law enforcement being greenlit to enforce immigration law.  But it all happened while Phelan was speaker.  Without a doubt, the most conservative Speaker, ever.  But still a dirty RINO for not being MAGA enough.  It would be funny if it weren't true.   I've been following politics long enough to remember when Rs couldn't get elected in Texas... I'm confident that we're headed back that direction.  I mean, it's obvious that with population shifts we'll be turning blue eventually.  I think that the behavior of the leadership of the Republican Party is going to cause that shift sooner than expected.  I won't be surprised to see Democrat Senators and possibly even a governor elected within 12 years.  Maybe less.  The Rs will be a party apparatus without a voting base behind them.
