I wonder if Texas is having any back door meetings... those boosters run the school

They may be having those meetings, but it would be surprising if Briles is involved. If they want to make a change, they can do better. I think a place like Tech is the best Briles can do right now if he wants to be in the Power 5.

If I'm their AD and I know I can get Briles, I get that done no matter what they told Wells. That's a no-brainer for the Red Raiders.

My opinion:  If Texas thought the last 2 head coaches were the answer, then Briles would be a god send!

I agree with you there. Briles would be much better than both of them, but their sights are going to be way higher than that because they overvalue who they are. I do too to some extent because of all of the money that flows through there.

Maybe if Briles does leave the HS ranks some of the unfair hate and slander that has been  here in multiple threads can finally die down. With our "no coach bashing" policy, it has amazed me how it has persisted totally unchecked againt Briles, yet other accurate, fair,  milder "one off" critiques gets the heavy handed treatment immeadiatly.

Congrats to Mt. Vernon and Coach Briles on a fantastic year. Coming one score from a State Championship game when almost no one believed in you or the MV program is quite an accomplishment. Good luck wherever you go.

Here comes the ultimate homer

Why would that comment be relevant? All he did was state facts.  They did not get ripped.  I was at game also. Grad from PNG and now live in Ned. Yes everyone knows he graduated from PNG. But I bet if Ned made it to the state game this year and lost by a 10 pt or less margin you would come to Big Ned defense also!

    • Meh.. Everyone knows this. The kid that got injured wasn't lifting weights. Supposedly he was hit with a helmet in his elbow. In my opinion the kid shouldn't have been put in that situation. AD should've told the Varsity baseball players to sit that one out. I have no issues with the lifting or conditioning. However, anytime helmets/pads are on there is a higher risk of injury. This AD showed a total lack of respect for HIS baseball program.
    • Maybe.. however..  Many athletic director / head football coach have lost their job despite the athletic program as a whole being successful.. if the football team struggles.  On the other hand, when football teams are doing great but the rest of the program stinks.. AD/HFC still keeps their job. WOS.  Newton. .. programs as a whole were fairly weak during those many years of football power and very few people even knew it.  Or cared. Yet, AD/HFC kept their jobs for years. Meanwhile, I remember an AD/HFC at Barbers Hill lost his job after every program in the school won district championships and even had several team sports (baseball, softball, girls hoops, etc.) making runs at state.  But the football team was mediocre.  Fired. I'm not saying you're wrong, just that perception is reality.  And the perception is that your athletic program can suck as long as football wins.. it doesn't matter how strong the athletic program is if football sucks.

    • Baseball mafia can cry all they want but when the talent isn’t there it ain’t there lol
    • It's only a matter of time before the baseball mafia starts greasing the tracks to run Crumedy out of town. It'll be a dang shame too, but mark my words.
