Why Would OZEN want to stay in 5A

I would imagine the travel cost are a lot cheaper if they stay in the local 5A district. They would definitely be a 4A powerhouse though.

Would they be traveling a lot for football? Their non-football district would likely be with LCM, BC, HF, HJ, OF, WOS, and Silsbee. That's not much traveling.

I don't know why they would either? Not even/ barely making playoffs in 5a. To almost a for sure playoff berth every year. Traveling shouldn't be a issue either.

It a probably to keep the Central and Ozen in the same district especially with a possible proposed rezoning in the district to get more kids at Ozen.  I assume the expect Ozen's numbers to increase somewhat pretty soon.  But this is just speculation in my part.

If Ozen is a "basketball" school like people on here have said, it really does not matter if they are 5A or 4A.

I was speaking more along the lines of football. They would have to most likely make trips to Cleveland, Huffman, Jasper and Livingston. Half of their district would be over an hour away. Right now BISD gets to save having Ozen play Westbrook in non-district and Ozen play Central in district play. With the Baytown schools being out the longest ride they would have is probably the 30 mins to Port Arthur.

Just what I thought...  But with depth issues for the last couple of years, it'll be some tough situations...  Hopefully the kids work hard this off-season to make up for the depth issues....

You got that right.  You can drive through the Ozen parking lot after school and see kids just "hanging out" that could make an immediate impact on many local teams.

seems like UIL would pull HJ and move over with Liberty, Huffman, Tarkington and Cleveland. Put Ozen in with the Beaumont area group and be good.

There are plenty of kids, athletic looking kids that don't play sports walking the halls and campus.  I've seen it first-hand.  If they can start coming out for Football......  But the kids do come out for basketball, though...

The reason is Beaumont Bowl rivalries in all sports! Like mentioned in past posts, BISD is better off with two high schools. Before Dr. Thomas came on board as Supt., things were more simpler! Now, it's more complicated! I don't understand why the district is falling apart.

That's the school district thinking about themselves. Its not fair to kids, they should be in the classification of their numbers, so its an even playing field. That's why we have these numbers.

Cleveland, Livingston and Huffman will be 4A DI.
