Central, Ozen under investigation by UIL

This is really ridiculous.  Every team has coaches present.  Lots of schools don't have the demographic issues that Central has.  Lots of their kids can't afford to make those trips to Houston, that is assuming that they have parents that are involved enough to take them.  So for Toby and his staff to be willing to drive them, and buy them meals, in my opinion, does not make them violators, it makes them heroes.  These KIDS need positive role models in their lives and if the Central and Ozen coaching staffs are starting off their tenures by doing that, then more power to them.  Mr. Jordan would be best served to stick to investigating school board members and things like that and leave the molding of young men to the ones who are invested in that.

Just a side note, if I was on that central staff, I would be very very upset about Mr. Jordan's wild assesment that he might have seen Central football players escorting "scantily clad" women to their cars at 7:00 am.  He better be sure he saw what he thinks he saw before slinging that accusation.  The pictures I saw are not enough evidence for that accusation.

This whole thing makes me very sad for those young men and these programs, and causes Jerry Jordan to lose the little credibility he had.  I know he is here reading this.  If this is the type of attention you were looking for Mr. Jordan, you've got it.

I find it almost comical that it is the fault of the UIL and the reporter and not the coaches.

I guess blame the messenger is in full force.

The rule might be stupid but it is the rule. If other coaches are doing it them photo them.

I don't know if the coaches violated the rules but they certainly appeared to be doing so. That is why they call it an "investigation" and not a conviction. Maybe they have valid reasons for being there within the rules. Blaming the UIL and the reporter seems lame.

Power hungry grown men following around 7 on 7 teams, taking pictures, seems lame to me.  If he was so interested, why didn't he get out of the car and go ask them what they were up to?  Staking out high school kids in a hotel parking lot to show that they might have been breaking UIL rules?  Are you seriously going to defend that?  If they had been selling cocaine, he'd have had a story.  This isn't a story.

That is for a different topic but the criminals are being investigated and now you have innocent coaches being thrown in the mix. BISD is the laughing stock of Texas and I'm tired of my tax dollars being wasted and stolen. Central extorted there own students! Kids! What's right is right and what's wrong is wrong. There is a reason I send my kids to Kelly.
The real reason you send them to Kelly is because they wouldn't play at any of the BISD high schools...

If there is no story then it should end quickly with no action.

I don't need to defend reporters. A reporter is there to get people to read the articles. It sure looks like this one was a success. When there are threads on other internet sites, it looks like he did his job.

I notice that people are addressing the reporter and not the title of the thread. It s like I said in my other post, people are deflecting the issue not to the rules but to the person that reported it.

Out of curiosity, if it is true, what is the penalty? If a school has already been sanctioned, do they lose any playoffs that year? It is double secret probation? Does the head coach have to not be on the sidelines for the first five games?

What happens if the UIL finds that the accusations are true? Do they blame it on the accuser or do they take action?

I can't help but think, would there be this much riff raff if I would have followed Nederlands Football team and snapped pictures of that secret Spring football game?

Now that I think about it, how creepy is it for a 'mom and pop's reporter to be following teenage kids around like a 'groupy' and snap secret photos?  Those kids are minors.  I wonder if those kid's parents consented to that to 'Mr. Creepy photo guy'?

Bluedove3  YES, two set of rules, why don't jerry report on both sides West Brook 7 on 7 Nederland Spring game and some schools home and home 7 on 7 games with each other, Nederland basketball coach has been coaching his kids for years doing the summer and if jerry didn't know that go by Nederland gym or the youth center, two rules

No wonder BG said PNG was making playoffs this year. He had an inside source that Ozen and Central was going to have some clown of a reporter following them around trying to find some silly rule violation. ;D

Seriously though, this guy taking pictures kind of creeps me out. I hope he don't travel around taking pics of teenage boys and girls on dates. If your going to stalk people, then why didn't he go talk with coaches, parents or the players? I'll tell you why, he was scared to get out of his car in Houston and confront his so called violators. Silly
By all means, go get the Ned bball coach, if he is doing wrong or breaking the rules he should suffer the same. But the two sets of rules stuff is lame, and reeks of someone who has been caught.

Don't need consent to take photos in the public unless you are selling them.

What if you are posting them on a website that charges people a subscription fee to look at the articles in which the pictures reside?  Does he need consent then?

What if the kids are minors and someone posts their image and vaguely accuses them of soliciting a prostitute?  Does he need consent then?

TVC, you're usually a pretty level headed guy, but I cannot believe that you are on Jerry Jordan's side on this one.

I agree with an earlier post that this looks and sounds like a witch hunt.  It's not like Central or Ozen are blatantly breaking the spirit and intent of the rules like Yates does with it's basketball/communications program.  ;)

These coaches, and especially the kids, don't deserve this kind of negative publicity.  Mr. Jordan's publication reminds me of a tabloid magazine found in the checkout line.  Kudos to these coaches for getting these boys to a workout to get better and not allowing them to get in trouble running the streets.  As a society, we are going to make it where everybody is afraid to help someone in fear of this kind of crap.

A coach noes the rules period all you can make up all the excuses you want once you break a rule you should pay. He's no rookie coach and sooner or later you gonna get caught.

I guess the thing to do would be to let Ozen and Central both slide, its only Ozens
3rd offense. Geez give em a break, and while your at it let Central off too. We dont need any stinking rules, throw em all out and let the chips fall where they may!!! WOW!!!!!!
