You can count on one of their own who just graduated from Lamar to be in the running. Kyle Green could be another one.
The PN-G coach will also have to coach football.  I doubt very seriously Green will take a job that requires him to coach football in the middle of deer season.  ;D

Green wont touch football. Trust me I know. He hates football. He used to have a rule that football players couldn't play baseball and vice versa till the likes of trey and jonboy changed his mind lol.

My no. 1 candidate would be 3A  Pleasant Grove coach. 6 consecutive trips to state tourn. defending state champs. Gotta be doing something right. Take a trip to Austin this week, and bring the check book.

A coach coming from a baseball program like Pleasant Grove would have trouble duplicating his success with the parameters of the PN-G job.  PN-G has great players in the program but it is tough working around the football/off-season workouts during baseball season.  This is not a shot at Coach Faircloth and/or PN-G Football.  This will be a very attractive job, but many experienced and successful baseball guys will give pause before checking out the situation.  Others will willingly choose to operate within the present system.

My thoughts exactly. Definitely a football first position. They need to take a look at some schools where baseball stands on its own. A school like Barbe in La. comes to mind.

In the state of Texas, football is the event and every other activity is a sport.Took me a while to realize that the AD job rest on how the football team competes. If all the other sports do well it is a bonus for the AD but it is not his primary focus. The system is set up for the AD's to have a football first mentality. It is easy to bash the AD's until you put yourself in their shoes. Most people would do what it takes to keep a job.Good luck on PNG finding a baseball coach that can keep the parents and fan base happy.

Never happen in Texas. Cecchini has a pretty good set up at Barbe. Very similiar to what most 5A baseball coaches have in Texas. Most smaller schools will always require a head coach to have a second coaching assignment. Coaching "baseball only" at Deer Park was the main reason Rupp left GCM.

You get on here and act like your in the know about everything when actually you know squat.  Time to get a job and stay off the computer.

Your right. My bad. I was going off a few players that played football and tried to play baseball there freshman year and made the team only to be told they couldn't play football because he wouldn't work around the workouts and practices and such. No need to start slurring insults and such kid.

Not sure what your talking about here. I went to a lot of their games this year and never heard of any parenting issues..... Sure he had some issues with some seniors, but they are gone now. This group coming up will make the future coach smile.... ;)

Johnnyarm,My comments were a generalization. My point was that most AD's in Texas will hire a coach that is football first and knows baseball also.My other point is it is hard to keep the community behind you in Mid-County.So much talent each year to decide who the starting 9 will be.Some of the non-starters parents set out to run the coach off.Not fair but it is the way it goes in Mid-County.

The search is over.
Could it be the coach that had the #1 ranked team in 3a all year long?
Probably so, of the interviewees he would seem like the most logical choice.

Scott Carter from Sweeny will be the man. He was just reassigned over there. Probably trying to get out of the district.
He has a pretty good résumé.  300+ wins and 2 State Titles in Louisiana.  PNG has some talent coming up and should be the favorites to win district next year.
