Played for Dodge…? Naw. Knowing Dodge, helping out at his camps, and few things common with him. Yeah, sure. I’ll give him that.
Coach Rich was at North Texas when Dodge was the QB Coach

Well all that information “you heard” about Coach Rich was all wrong.
To be fair the part about Dodge is true

I heard his speech was good. They will have a spring game. Doesn’t that cost them a scrimmage?

I know PN-G is a football school first and foremost, but we really are blessed with an embarrassment of athletic riches at PN-G. The baseball program has made four state championship appearances and won it once; three of those appearances and the victory have all occurred in the last 25 years. The softball team has made two state championship appearances, both in the last 25 years. The volleyball team is 3-0 in state championship games. For most of the last fifteen years, both the boys' and girls' soccer programs have been major regional powers, making regional final appearances several times. If I recall correctly, there was one season where both teams made it to the regional final. We've fielded two or three state champions in various track activities plus a few dozen more state track meet qualifiers, and are always competitive in powerlifting. We used to be a real power in tennis. Sports-wise, basketball is really the only area where PN-G has consistently underperformed.
Add in all the academic accolades - the years of blue ribbon designations, thirteen straight district titles in UIL academics and several consecutive years of dozens of kids advancing to regionals, a handful to state and one kid winning a gold medal in creative writing at the state UIL meet. For several years, PN-G offered more dual credit hours than any other local high school, Kelly included. And then there's the performing arts. The band has made, what, four trips to the state marching competition? Straight ones all but maybe three or four seasons since the UIL started holding regional marching competitions 50+ years ago? Not to mention the hundreds of PN-G students who've achieved all-region and all-state honors in band and choir, and a very competitive theater program.
Football is king at PN-G, but there are many, many more reasons to be proud to be an Indian.
PN-G is 3-1 they lost in 1980 to Spring

The Bulldog basketball team appears to doing what the PAM football team did at the end of the season and that is fold the tent. The Bulldogs better get it together A couple of losses this week and they may be sitting at the house along with PNG
Off topic but people act like the sky is falling with the basketball program yet they'll still be 3rd in district once the dust settles

Let's look back before Neumann got there. Nederland was really bad. No buy in from players or community. Then for 19 years, had buy in from players and community. After Neumann, the program went down the toilet. So, this is the reason we are talking about player and community buy in now. What was the common denominator? The Coach!! You can't put the cart before the horse! Get the right coach, start winning, then the buy in will happen. At Nederland this has already been proven!
Going to be a tall task to win in this district but Coach Rich will get the players out that's for sure

Scott Rich seems to be the consensus rumored pick. Little that can be found about him online seems to be what was stated as Katy’s QB coach for last few seasons at least. And seems to be involved in Student Leadership activities and FCA. Sounds like a class act individual.
if this is the selection will be interesting to see what aspects he brings from Katy program (hopefully structure, discipline, fundamentals, etc). Offensively Katy usually has a run oriented approach with pro sets, i formation, single back, etc and under center. More balanced approach than typical spread. Would be interesting. Would be better if he brought along Katy’s giant OL 🤣 Although, if you haven’t seen the size of some of the middle school linemen coming up in Nederland, would be good to check out some Central middle school games next year. Let’s see if we can keep them on the field in high school.
Will be interesting day/evening with announcements. Im sure the lookouts are searching the city to see if the new coach has arrived already and touring around. 🤣 Coach Watch 2024 is on!
We had far better candidates this go around than in 2017...ill say this the days of undisciplined Nederland Bulldog football are about to be over...Coach Scott was the guy responsible for the red zone game planning for Katy when it comes to Xs and Os really smart guy...you talked about his family his dad was really well liked and was on the 1st Buna Cougar basketball state championship team

School district boundaries don’t follow city limits. NISD has all of Nederland plus healthy portions of Port Neches and Port Arthur and all of Central Gardens and Beauxart Gardens. PN-GISD loses roughly a quarter of Port Neches to NISD and a fifth of Groves to PAISD, though it picks up two neighborhoods in Port Arthur.
It’s more like both districts have a town and a half; the number of residents and households the two districts have is almost always roughly even. When I was in school (PN-G c/o 2011), Nederland had about a hundred more students than PN-G.
The fact that PN-G is ~15% larger than Nederland now is significant. That’s the largest enrollment disparity between the two schools in at least 30 years, maybe longer. What you’re seeing is PN-GISD’s aggressive approach to replacing schools since 2008 paying dividends. Young families took notice.
And when we finally passed a bond we built a new high school that is sinking into the ground and according to the rumor and innuendo won't be ready for 2024-2025 school year either

The enrollment shocked me. I always thought Ned had more kids than PNG but the numbers are massively different. Nederland better get them new schools going and the programs back in shape.
PN-G has two towns to pull from Nederland just 1

NED is expecting PN-g results and it is not going to happen that way at NED.
I disagree with that we want to get back to being top 3 in district and winning a few playoff games...the weakness at Nederland is along the offensive and defensive lines we don't have as far to go at the skill positions

They better hurry up if I’m reading this right. I highly doubt any truly quality candidates are going to be sitting on their hands waiting for a phone call from Nederland. They’re going to keep applying at other places.
I just hope they allow the new coach to bring in their own assistants that has bit us in the past hopefully the school board has learned

OK. PNG was the only competitive team in the district.
I disagree with that too the top 3 were competitive in district...if you think 4th place is competitive tell the WO-S fans their team was competitive in 2023 and see what hornets nest you'll stir up😄

If you think that hiring a great coach will bring you a championship in 2or 3 years, you are going to be very disappointed. Bilichick is a great coach but when he lost his good player then he started losing.
We expect to be competitive in district which we haven't been the last 3 years

If that happens, Steve DeRouen, Larry Neumann, Monte Barrow, and 3/4 of the town of Nederland will have heart attacks. That would answer the question about Todd Dodge having no role in the recommendation of candidates. Nederland could save money on moving expenses for the new coach...just hire Vidor's old coach, Jeff Matthews. I would be shocked if Nederland went Slot-T.
One of these things is not like the other...it wouldn't shock me seeing the offensive personnel we currently have
