One of the reasons the stadium was remodeled, what 7 or 8 years back, was because we were overflowing the other side even though we had nothing more than so so teams. Now, we have a couple of great years and stumble this year and it's like roaches in the kitchen, turn the light on and we scattered. I admit, I left early last Friday, it won't happen again, but like I said in another post, it was a combination of disappointment and physical pain (I forgot to take my magnesium). I'll keep an extra bottle of pills in my truck from now on. Oh and to answer Rangers third question, the how for Lumbertons growth was of course the housing boom as well as expanding industry in the Golden Triangle. The why is a pretty good school district and not being land locked like PNG which has virtually no room to grow and the preception that Lumberton is a really nice community. I once heard estimates that within 20 years Lumbertons' population could actually reach 50,000. Now before anyone pops off, is the perception real or not? That depends on each individuals opinion. I do know one thing for sure, until Interstate 69 is built, we will continue to have traffic jams that rival Houstons' own. :o :P
What industry is there in the Golden Triangle area? (Seriously) I can remember going to my grandparents in Silsbee and stopping in Lumberton only because they had a stop light. I would assume that the town was founded around the Kirby paper mill and the lumber industry. What has changed? I think we all assume, I know I do, that the "white flight" from Beaumont has played a much larger role than any "expanding industry" for the growth in Lumberton. Is that wrong? Not entirely. What people must understand is that the schools and the school districts are only as good as "active" parents make them. Diversity is just a way of life. Schools do not rot at the roots, they rot from the branches down. (There, I'm done being serious)
I think your right, the "white flight" did play a huge roll in Lumberton population. With that said, why would people choose Beaumont versus Lumberton if Lumberton had better schools, better crime rate and new houses. I moved for the reasons I stated. I'm sure others moved for different reasons, just don't paint with such a large brush. :)
Fair assesment. Be sure to use that same brush.
Absolutely, and if I came across the wrong way, I apologize. I'm not making personal opinions about the good people of Beaumont, just using statistics. I'm sure both communities has their pros and cons!

Why don't you tell us where you are from? Some of the things you are saying on here are just wrong. Nobody is going anywhere, especially to Beaumont. The raider fans are still here and we still have a chance to make that fourth playoff spot. You're just another one of those idiots on here who don't know what they are talking about. Get a life.
I have nothing against the TOWN of Lumberton. I am from Baytown, TX. I am not an idiot. I know what I am talking about. I have a life. Thanks for your concerns. 1. Where are YOU from? 2. How long will you stay? 3.How and why did the population of Lumberton grow SO fast? Don't hate, elevate!
Those are easy questions for me........ 1. I'm from Port Arthur 2. Until my Son completes High School and probably longer 3. The crime rate in Beaumont on a scale of 1-10 is a 7. Lumberton is a 2. To me, that is huge if you want to raise your kid in a safe environment. The school districts are also rated better concerning education. Beaumont compared to the state is given a 3, and Lumberton a 6. So, those are the main reasons I moved to Lumberton. How's that for an evaluation?

My mistake. The rest of the analogy stands. How many coaches are no longer in the coaching field either because of age, monetary needs or other factors? I believe Coach Harper from Burkeville left the profession a few years back to take care of an ailing family member. He is now back coaching. If your not currently employed as a coach does that mean you know nothing of coaching?
Let me ask you a serious question...are former or retired coaches like Coach Harper in the stands screaming their guts out, criticizing the coaches on the field? My point stands as well...that the few Pee Wee coaches who think they are God's gift to coaching are the ones that would look ridiculous going head to head against that same high school coach they criticize. It's a different level when the kids are in high school and popping each other at trainwreck speed. The game moves a whole lot faster. Again, if you read my comments here, you will see that I differentiate between discussing a coach's and teams shortfalls on here WITHIN REASON, and the "foam at the mouthers" in the stands that wouldn't recognize a safety blitz package until it came up and rang their bell.
It's all about class. I have coached youth sports(bb,b-ball & fb) for about 3 years. I have been cursed & criticised by a few parents. 99% of the parents and fans are fine, it's that 1% that is the problem. And the ones that always complain have bigger issues than a game.

all this talk about the 8am game............although you may not like it, does the other team you play have to get up at 8am as well? Looks to me like BOTH teams will be at the same advantage/disadvantage. Does not seem like a big deal. So go out there and do your thing.........may the best team win! P.S. I got your message WOS98.......I understand what you said and I agree.....you got some internal issues to work out! -

But then again cant expect much from Lumberton............you guys diplayed that last year. Good luck Saturday BAM......should be a fairly easy win for you guys. Its just the cheap shots abd poor sportsmanship you have to watch out for!! HooRah!!! This sounds like "that parent" you don't want on your team. : Good luck to all the teams -

(caught on film) Kicking players in the back AFTER he is on the ground, starting running back out 1st half. Refs didn't see LO's not in position and standing during quarter 1, 2, 3. FINALLY the refs decided to participate in the game. Scoring during 2ND half was 14-7. WOS dominated our offense, BUT would have been a MUCH closer game after reviewing video. This type of shotty refereeing will NOT happen in the SUPER BOWL. Hope to see y'all again, WOS- Good LUCK! ;D CONGRATS TO PNG WHITE, LUMB WHITE, WOS for winning your division. GOOD LUCK to all the teams in the playoffs! I've heard 2 different versions about the running back. First, he was blocked in the back. Then he was kicked. We asked the refs who did it,but nobody (coaches or refs) could tell us who it was. When you find out who (should be able to see it on film), please let me know and I will personally handle it. We don't play like that and my kids know better. As far as the refs go, I seem to recall that every penalty in the book was called on us in the second half. And we didn't do anything different from the first half. Bottom line is you guys got beat. Now in no way am I gloating or throwing it in y'alls faces, but it is what it is. And like I told y'alls head coach, Nederland White is a heck of a team and will do well in the playoffs. But please don't taint our victory with excuses and accusations. Fact is the better team won. Convincingly. Good Luck to all in the playoffs. Should be very interesting..... Great Job Previs! As y'all continue to coach in this league u will hear all kinds of excuses. Especially win a team is 7-0 and plays Wos and don't show up at all like yesterday. First of all you have them beat before the game ever starts. Know why? Because half of the kids or intimidated by the WOS FLY MUSTANG ON OUR HELEMT. Second if our kids make a big hit the first play of the game. Third all week there coaches tell there kids don't let them get outside because they are fast. Then u bust one up the middle on them. So now there kids are like i thought coach side don't let them outside. They just run up the middle and scored a long TD. Fourth there game plan is all screwed up now because you're running up the middle and they have kids spread out from sideline to side line. So Previs keep UP THE GREAT WORK AT THE PEEWEE LEVEL. I BEEN COACHING IN THIS LEAUGE FOR 4 YEARS AND I DONE HEARD IT ALL WHEN WOS BEATS TEAMS THAT SUPPOSE TO BE GOOD. « Last Edit: Today at 02:22:44 PM by WOS 98 » Good thing you edited that post -

unfortunately, both of your examples would get the schools attention and result in some sort of discipline. IMO, the schools jobs ends when the bell rings. I take raising my kid very seriously. He would much rather be punished through the school than by me. Politics have taken over everywhere. Believe me when I say this Chippy, you are very much in the minority in this department. Most schools have all these rules to deal with the ones that parents do not even know where their children are half the time. So, before we start with all the schools jobs ends when the bell rings, look around and see how all this could affect your child. Phones with cameras will get you in some very deep trouble. And as for politics, they have been around since before the first rule or law was made......someone always feels they have been slighted in some form or fashion. I would agree with you on all your points, but that does not change what should be versus what is. 1. When I got in trouble in school, I was worried about what my parents would take away. That was from grade school to high school....and dang near to college ;D . I would race home to make sure I told them first, shame on me if they found out through someone else besides me! 2. They knew where I was at every moment. They called and followed up to make sure I was were I told them. 3. They asked to see my grades and knew weeks ahead when they would come out. They gave me warnings if I was not A or B, I had 2-4 weeks before grades. They cared!! Although, I didn't like it back then. My Dad was a good friend although I was scared as heck of him if I did something wrong. Well, it's 2009 and I have a son of my own. He's 8 and very independent and hard headed. A duplicate of his Father. I pray that he makes better choices than I did (and I did OK, no criminal record ;D ) I want him to be perfect and I am always teaching life lessons. I'm no superman and I make mistakes. I am living proof that in 2009 I don't need the government or the school to raise my child. As a matter of fact, I resent them even trying. As far as I'm concerned, the school does stop after the bell rings because I don't need them!! P.S. As a disclaimer, I do respect teachers and think they are under paid. I agree and if you stay involved in your childs life, for you school will stop when the bell rings..... I have a son, 14 and a daughter 12 and I was raised the same as you and I have the same expectations of mine. We had rules etc when I was in school, not near as many as we do today, but we had alot of additional expectations from our coaches. This included anything we got into after school or on weekends. And after my coaches got done, I still had to deal with my parents. THIS IS NOT THE CASE SO MUCH ANYMORE. We have come to a society where parents want to defend their kids actions instead of holding them more accountable. I see that all the time. My kid tried it on me a couple times...."the teacher don't like me". I tell him that's going to happen from time to time throughout life. You must go back to school and figure out a way to "get along". She/He don't have to like you, they just have to teach you. I had a talk with the teacher and found out what was going on. I supported the teacher. My kid never knew I had that talk and I will never tell him. Too many parents want to blame the teachers for the child's screw ups. All they are raising is an excuse maker......... -

At school, yes I think it should be banned and punishment should be given. ya think? At home it's none of the schools business. YA think? Joking aside, the digital phones can tarnish a reputation very quickly. It should be up to the parent NOT the school to teach them about ethics and common sense. When I was a teen my mom came up and said, "Son I need to talk to you about something I found in your room." I said, "Mom, the beer isnt mine--its my friends." She said, "No.......Im talking about the magazine!" Double the trouble! ;D It happend at home and she took care of it. If it happens at School- the school will handle it....then the parents. Thanks FUNNY........I think everyone has had a similar situation.
