Yea that happened.... It was worth it though lol...
I'm starting to think he carries the same 8 lb fish everywhere he goes....... ;D  ;D
 3.

only put 8 total in the boat.  i caught two, one of which was a pretty nice 3-pounder.
Tough lake to fish.
It is....completely different fishing than Rayburn or toledo
 4.
I'm going to Lake Fork next Saturday.  A buddy of mine went out in pretty windy conditions and managed to catch 9 fish last weekend, so I have high hopes.
VERY COOL.....should be starting or in the middle of spawn
 5.
Toledo Bend has been low for 5 or 6 month I guess. I don't remember when they drew it down to work on the dam. I do know, however, they are not in a hurry to let it fill back up. I checked this morning and the level is 164.66 feet. That is a rise from the last rain up north of the dam by about 1/10 of an inch. If I am not wrong the new law said that they are not supposed to generate when the level is below 168 feet. They are running one generator for two hours a day, (6AM to 8 AM today) which is releasing 7794 cubic feet per second. I thought they were only supposed to maintain a minimum flow down streem which is 204 cubic feet per second. This is not going to help the spawn in my opinion. Does anyone know what is going on?
Check out this link: [Hidden Content] Thats putting several boat ramps out of commission.  The spring is when the business around the water start making a profit again. Hopefully it gets up quick. As for the spawn, it should not matter too much as long as it stays consistant. It may actually help the fisherman as the fish cant move deep in shallows if the waters low.
 6.
Ditto to what ICE said! This ought to make the league stronger. BTW, this aint pop warner, we all bring the helmets in this league :D Figured I would start early this year :D
talkin smack in Feb.......I love it!    8)

Is there such a feature here for the karma?
Dont think so...... If we had that feature, we would have to have a dedicated thread for arguments  ;D
2932 post. 308 positive karmas. 169 negatives. Something is wrong here ::)
lol.......there is an art to posting.  Most of my negatives came my first few months I was here......it's not what you say but how you say it.......  ;)
 8.
Wow, Thanks guys, I really appreciate all this info. I dont know anything about this area so im kinda in the dark here.I just stumbled on this site trying to research the area for football and travel baseball, Im glad I did! You cant afford to miss out on that 8th grade,12u/13u year of development in either sport. I will be in Texas on the 24th and will definately check these schools out. Montgomery sounds like the type of school and area that we are leaving so sounds like a good fit on the surface. (hows the hunting and fishing around there? LOL ) That might be a question for a different web site :-), We love our football in Georgia, but have heard great things about Texas Football and are looking forward to the experience.  ;D
Hunting and fishing excellent.........
 9.
...a good idea!  What ages are you considering?  Day camp?  Summer or weekend?  I agree that to get info to coaches/ADs is the best way to promote your camp.
Like it.....What age groups?
 10.
I haven't been fishing in a while. The water is so low and finding a good place to launch is a problem. We have gotten some decent rains lately up there but every time I go the water is a little lower. It seems that the water should have risen a little. It is a good time to work on doc's if need be.
You speaking of Toledo?  I thought they maintained the 165 level. If it is because of lack of rain.....wow....didnt realize it
 11. Doubt it..... If I were going fishing today, I would have to check water temp.  But I would fish 10-12ft with access to both deep and shallow water. I dont think the fish will be in the grass or shallow water. They should be hanging in deeper water preparing for the spawn.
 12.

Been looking for a good working Gatlin Gun. TVC got one?
Not yet. I used to have a Galil machine gun that I carried for a few years and that was fun but alas, it is gone also.
notice.........NOT YET.....lol

Now granted they got caught and will, and should, serve the punishment but that does not automatically make them a bad kid. If my friends and I where caught doing half of the stuff we did in high school we would be in Levinworth, but believe it or not we all turned out to be good dads, docs, coaches, buisness owners, lawyers, and best of all Christians.
Man, I remember during high school  ??? Well anyway, some of yall weren't caught thats my point.
I hear ya Blue.....!!!!!LOL
Man.......you guys just made me think of some of the things we did in high School.......... I'll be back........I need to go to Church!  ;D
 14.
3 children (girl aged 4 and 2 boys aged 7 and 9) will have a Merry Christmas this year thanks to the sportsmanship and generosity of the STJFL/Lonestar youth football leagues. The money raised from our concession combined with a couple of donations I had from private individuals towards this football project was enough that these children will have a GREAT Christmas and the parents will have plenty of food on the table for the holiday season. My friends this is what sportsmanship is all about.   I think this turned out better than my HJ coaches, and the Bridge City coaches expected, and would love to see it become a holiday tradition. Thank you to all who participated Richard Morreale
COOL!!
 15.
Then its baseball time. Finally something I know at least a little about!!!!!!!!!
I heard you are "the man" when it comes to baseball. I wish I lived closer so my son could benefit from your coaching.........
 16. Good luck and may everyone leave injury free.
 17.
I was all set to head up to the deer lease this afternoon, taking tomorrow off, but i've thrown up about 10 times since midnight.  curse word.  here's hoping i feel well enough to at least head that way in the morning.
Dang man........hope you get to feeling better.......HATE throwing up......almost nothing worse
 18.
Chris Gohlke runs one for 6 weeks, not sure how many days a week it is, but its definetly one of the tougher ones. 20. Prayers are with you
 21.
Any ideas on resources for youth football camps in Texas?  I was thinking it might be fun to go to a few with my son this summer. Birddog
Looked into that for this past summer. I wanted to put my son in a contact camp, not just a drill camp.....which is all that is offered in our area. If you do that, plan on droping $800.00 - $1200.00 for a week. Most of them practice full contact and have a game the last day.
 22.
I think the biggest problem has to be how to recognize a concussion. Coaches and parents have to be better prepared to recognize the systems. Currently do any organizations require some “first aid / medical examination training? Question does anyone remember back in the 80’s a San Francisco 49’er playing with a soft cover over his helmet? If so who was it and why? I have thought for years now that would lessen a helmet to helmet blow.
How about a "standard" for helmet quality. Our league purchased new helmets a couple years ago. My son didn’t get one, he got the old type with hard Styrofoam in it.  After a couple weeks he complained of headaches. I broke down and purchased a $200.00 helmet with air bladders. The headaches disappeared. Luckily this year he got one of the new ones with the air padding. I have a silver youth small for sale.....it's a DNA
 23.

considering Barbay is the #4 winnest coach in Texas high school Football history I would have to move him up to a least number 3, Dan hooks is a hundred or so wins behind Barbay so how can that be a tie.
because Hooks has had absolutely no talent to work with.  ;D
lol
 24.
WOS has a great Football team. Before you go slamming the HJ Jr. and Sr. Hawks you may want to look at the back of everyone of their helmets. Yep you guessed it a big ole #12. Maybe our HS team is not the best (at the moment) but why not take a look at our graduation rate, TAK's passing %, and SAT scores or better yet I can go to great schools web site and directly compare HJ and WOS but trust me you would not want to see that posted on here. School sports are nice but an education will get you a lot further.
That discussion should be handled in another thread, if at all. This is a sports thread and we are talking about football. Stay on subject,.
 25.
NO, NO NO Hippy you gotta read like 8 pages buddy!!!
