If they stick Harper at QB and leave him there, they will suprise some teams. Arnold will be a game breaker for the next three years if he doesnt' decide to soley concentrate on basketball. Newton will run away with this district, but I think the #2-#6 spot is wide open. You want to say EC is an easy pick for second, but you never know how they will respond to the loss of a big time player like Glen Roberts amoung others. This is how I see it: 1. Newton 2. East Chambers 3. Kountze 4. Anahauc 5. Woodville 6. Kirbyville 7. Hardin 8. Warren
Kville 6th ?  Won't happen!
You could easily be right. I just saw somewhere that KVille was losing 10 offensive starters. That's why I said #2-#6 is up for grabs. I could see Kville beating Anahauc and Woodville. Newton out of the question, EC will not fall to the Cats and Kountze will surprise alot of folks. Probably be two teams with a 4-3 district record make the playoffs as I see Kountze, Kville, Anahauc and Woodville knocking each other off in round robin style.

These two teams IMO will meet in the playoffs again this season. Alto won last meeting 35-28, can't wait to see the rematch.
The beating will be worse.
You guys try to beat West Sabine in district, slip past District 9's 3rd place team in the 1st round and HD will show SA a beating!! Unfortunately that scenario will not play out. Alto is going to crush the Wolves and West Sabine will handle them easily as well. San Augustine will be lucky to beat Shelbyville and get into the playoffs. HD will meet West Sabine in the 2nd round and it should be a great game.

 4. Hull-Daisetta Bobcat Class of '97! #9 on the field but #1 in your heart!! (Used that line at homecoming pep rally one time lol)

I'm not saying that HD will beat Kountze and Deweyville this year, because i think both those teams will be very good teams. Deweyville will be right there with Corrigan and Groveton and could easily be district champions. Kountze will slip into the playoffs in a stacked 2A-DI district with Newton and EC. I do think that HD will give both teams all they can handle. The Bobcats will be improved and have a full year in Coach Finney's system and in Coach Huck's offense. HD suprised alot of people last year with their only losses being to 2A's Deweyville, Kountze, and Groveton before falling in the 2nd round to Alto. I do believe that HD has closed the gap on Deweyville and the Cats have a very good shot and beating the Pirates in Daisetta. HD dominated Groveton last year gaining 3 times as many yards, but a 95 yard fumble return and block punt returned for TDs sealed their fate and helped push the Indians to victory. HD will avenge that loss. Kountze is the one that scares me. The Lions return a ton of offensive talent and alot of speed. I think they will be better than they were last year. HD will have to slow the game down and get physical with Kountze while limiting the big plays. I think HD wins 2 of these three games if not all three. Regardless of how it turns out, I promise HD will show up and the other team better be ready and not look at it as a 'lil 1A on the schedule marked as a win.
How did HD close the gap on DV? DV has a "full year" under their new coach and their highly talented Jrs are now Srs. Did HD almost win last year? DV is going to be much better. I am not sure how I ended in the DV camp but I have been waiting to see these kids in their Sr year for a while. Anyone who has been on the DV schedule has watched these kids and knew this was coming. Corrigan and Groveton will fair no better this year than last year. DV was the district champion last year and will improve significantly this year.
That's your opinion and that's fine. I do think Deweyville will have a quality team and will compete for the district title. (I actually think they will win it). The reason i say that HD has closed the gap is because I see HD being much better than they were last year. I'm not taking anything away from DV from last year because they handed it to HD, but if you remember correctly, that was a very unusual game. Deweyville recovered 3 or 4 onside kicks that game. The Pirates were up on HD 22-0 in the first quarter before HD touched the ball. I'm not saying that isn't part of the game, and that Deweyville didnt' earn those scores, because they most assuredly did. With that type or start, the HD kids got rattled and they were out of there comfort zone (credit again to DV). That's the equivilent to 4 turnovers in the 1st half in your own territory. It's tough to win any game doing that, much less against a quality team like Deweyville. The remainder of the game finished 29-26. The game was also played in Deweyville which anyone will attest is a very tough place to play. Tyler Drake was still at FB in that game and the offensive line hadn't sured up it's final lineup. Herman wasn't running the ball yet and Mosely wasn't in the lineup as a deep threat WR. HD returns 9 all-district defensive players and their top 5 leading rushers and top 3 leading receivers and thier 1st team all district quarterback on offense. Dupuy, Collins and Waldrep will be a handful and I think the Pirates beat out Corrigan and Groveton for the district championship. I think anybody that feels that this is an easy win for DV and that HD has no shot of winning is horribly wrong. This is a totally different team that Deweyville faced last year and they will see that soon. I could be wrong for sure, but I guess we'll see on Sept. 27th in Daisetta.

 7.
I was a sophomore on that EC team, and that was one of the funnest games I ever played in.  That did change the shape of EC football for the next 15+ years.  I played DE that game, and must say Broom was a man.
He was alright.... lol
 8. I have HD ranked as #3 in Region III behind Alto and Mart and ahead of West Sabine at #4. So if WS is at #8 in the state, I don't see why HD shouldn't be right there in the #7-#10 range. Who cares, it'll be different by the end of Week 1.
 9. Daisetta, TX - 1995- Final Week of the regular season The leadup: HD is 3-1 in district going into the final game against the East Chambers Bucs. EC comes in 3-1 as well. HD lost their one district game to West Sabine 14-13, failing on a two point coversion attempt after a last minute touchdown. EC lost handily to Hemphill for their one loss. Scenario: Hull-Daisetta wins and they are 4-1 and outright district champions due to a 7-0 win over Hemphill (8-1). East Chambers wins and they finish 4-1 in district and get outright second place to Hemphill who beat EC 38-7 three weeks earlier. HD loses and they are out of the playoffs. EC loses and they are out of the playoffs. Game: The game starts out rough for HD. Grades came out that day and they lost 7 players to academics. EC takes quick advantage of this. Jeff Ward has a couple big gains. Buc QB Hank Hargraves is running the offense flawlessly using talented weapons TJ White, Jessie Evans and Jason Thomas. HD QB Kory Brett is doing what he can with limited weapons and starters out on the offensive line. HD FB Chris Simmons breaks a 90 yard TD run in the first half, only to be matched by big plays from the Bucs. Halftime comes with a score of 22-22. The third quarter brings plenty of excitement, all by East Chambers. EC scores twice and goes on top 36-22. HD RB John Slack is knocked out of the game on a huge hit. HD backup QB Jason Sullivan steps in at tailback splitting time with freshman Dominique Williams. (1st varsity game). The intensity is rising as the game has tons of big hits and spectacular plays. HD gets the ball back with around 5min to go and sets off on a big drive. QB Kory Brett hits TE Brandon Broom on a deep post from around 27 yards out and he runs through both safeties for the touchdown! XP is good so the score is 36-29 EC with around 2:50 to play. HD kicker Mike Ruddick lays down a perfect one hop on-side attempt.... Hargraves is hit simultaneously by Broom and Kevin Dodd... the ball is free...and HD's Chris Simmons comes up with it! The Bobcats are back in business with 2 and change to go. Brett to WR Jason Simeon for a nice gain. A mistake by Brett as he floats an out route pass...tipped by a Buc defender, and hauled in by QB/RB/WR Slash Sullivan. He gets out of bounds with around 45 seconds to go. Brett drops back, he's pressured, scrambles to his right and hits TE Broom on a drag route at the pylon from 18 yards out!! The crowd goes wild!! East Chambers leads 36-35 with 38 seconds to go. Head Coach Russell Roberts checks the stats. No overtime back then. Goes to a tie breaker if ends in tie. 1st tie breaker: Penetrations; Tied up at 7 each. 2nd tie breaker: 1st Downs; tied up at 24 each. Final tie breaker: Total Yards; East Chambers 356 Hull-Daisetta 341. Tie breaker would go to EC and they are in the playoffs. Gotta go for two. In the sideline huddle, Coach Roberts decides to go to 400 give. Off tackle behind right side of Fontenot and Broom. Been working all night. Need 3 more yards now. Snap is clean, Bobcats fire off the ball, blowing EC defenders into the endzone... Brett goes to make give to FB Simmons... bad exchange.... fumble.... Brett scoops it up, struggles forward and is stopped on the 1 yard line. East Chambers is going nuts!! The Bucs hold!!! On-side attempt recovered by EC, take a knee and that's the ball game. One for the ages and a heartbreaker for Hull-Daisetta. Hemphill goes to the playoffs as district champs beating Garrison in Round 1 before falling to Groveton in the Area Round. Hemphill finishes 9-3 with losses to Alto (15-1) state finalist, Groveton (9-2 only two losses were to Alto in reg season and playoffs) and Hull-Daisetta. East Chambers goes as 2nd place team and loses in 1st round 40-2 to state finalist Alto. Hull-Daisetta stays at home with two 1 point district losses to West Sabine and East Chambers. This would be the beginning of an era for East Chambers football marking their first playoff appearance since 1982. EC would dominate the local 2A district for the next 15+ years.
 10. AAW, do you have the preseason polls for 1A and 2A?
 11. I enjoyed the game and their was alot of talent on the field. You could tell the kids were playing hard and getting after it. Some players that stood out to me were Tre Cooper; running back from Coldspring, Montana Q (QB/LB Vidor) as LB the whole game and then as QB on the drive to try to tie it up, #46 defensive end from Jasper and #45 defensive end from Coldspring. Several other players showed lots of talent, but these four stood out to me. I was really impressed with Cooper at RB. With a backfield of Glen Roberts and Jakobi Jones, I didnt' expect much from Cooper. He proved my inital thought wrong as he ran hard and was never tackeled by first contact, caught the ball out of the backfield, and laid some big time blocks. He was my MVP for the West and Montana was all over the field causing havoc and would get my MVP for the East. Great job by all the players and the coaching staffs.
I just meant so Hull-Daisetta doesn't have to face Twine/Williams and West Sabine early in the Reg III football playoffs this coming season. Actually the kid can do what he wants. He's been under the microscope since his ridiculous sophmore football season. He may not even play football with the baseball talent Having a great baseball season as a senior could be the difference in him going to play college baseball or being a high enough draft pick and getting a big enough signing bonus to go straight to the minors and skip college. Looking at it from a pure athletic standpoint (not considering family, friends, family finances, pride, academics and his competitive nature ect.), i think his best bet would be to go to a 4A or 5A school with a solid baseball program that competes against the best competition in the state. That would give scouts a little bit of a better barometer as opposed to him killing 1A or 2A opponents. College scholarship is already a lock, so now he's playing for a high draft slot. Although AAU, Select ball, and combines are what gets kids to the next level now, even more success against high calibur opponents can do nothing but help. Just my opinion.

 14.
I see Dakota Allen getting some love on the recruiting scene. He must of looked good at the NFTC in Dallas. Here's what the offers I can find in district 19-4a look like right now. Jordan Feuerbacher, TE, Kingwood Park - 8 offers. He has 13 career receptions in two years but he blocks well on film and undoubtedly catches the ball well in camps. I read somewhere he wants to go to A&M though and they could use him after Griffin didn't sign last year or they don't land Koda Martin. [Hidden Content] Dakota Allen, ILB, Summer Creek - 7 offers. Plays the game like a high school London Fletcher and given the fact that he'll probably weigh around 240 not long after he arrives on campus he could contend early for playing time in the right system and close his career with over 30 starts. I think he's perfect for the Big 10 and their power run games. [Hidden Content] Raelon Singleton , WR, Crosby - 6 offers. (I hear he has 8 offers but I can't confirm). Very, very raw but unlike Feuerbacher there's production to go with his potential. He had 125 receiving in Dayton and 157 more against a Manor team in the playoffs who I thought was the second best team we played all year behind SC. He had over 600 receiving yards last year in his first year back playing football and could have over 1000 this year with Justin Walter at Henderson St. His offers could double by the fall if he catches the ball well on the camp circuit. [Hidden Content] Austin Walter, RB, Crosby - 5 offers. (Doesn't show Rice). 10 ypc and 24 yards shy of 2000 last year to go with over 4000 total yards from scrimmage the first two years he's been in the backfield. I've watched the film on all the top backs in the state and country and think Joe Mixon is the best back in the country, Donald Catalon the best back in the state. Only thing stopping him from being a four star is the tape measure 'cause everything else is elite. [Hidden Content]; *Filthiest film in the SETX - [Hidden Content]] Aaron Sharp, QB, Summer Creek - 4 offers. 6,749 yards 66tds with just 16 ints in pretty much two years of work. (Threw for 1,122 as a freshman). 24th rated dual-threat qb in the country by rivals even though I believe he's just a mobile pro-style qb. QBs and kickers do their work at camps but he's on the verge of getting a few big time offers also. [Hidden Content] Aston Walter, QB, Crosby - 2 offers. (Committed to Rice). Playing out of position, would dominate if he got an opportunity to play the position Justin Walter did last year. Same size and stature as Phillip Beck who is in the state record books for his 2200 yards receiving season at Crosby but a heck of a lot better natural athlete.  [Hidden Content] * I'm going to do another one for the next tier of kids that don't have offers but will probably play in college somewhere, I just can't find consistent sizes.
Man, i knew these kids were great athletes, but Jeezz!! Those runs were crazy good against some talented defenses too.
 15. Great player and great kid. He's working hard and set to have a monster season on both sides of the ball....
 16. I just knew HDBobcat55 would be mentioned somewhere on this thread!!! That's my boy but he definitely doesn't mind stepping on any toes!
 17.

Not one player from HD but players from Hardin and West Hardin?  How do players get chosen for this thing?
Thomas Stanley from HD is on the West roster.  Players are nominated by their coaches.
I assume big Stanley will be playing tackle in this game. He played jumbo TE for HD all season. I'll be interested to see how he does against bigger kids from bigger schools. I believe he's about 6'3" 265lbs. I always love the small school vs big school individual matchups. I remember last year (maybe two years ago) that little linebacker from East Chambers was all over the field dominating. Good luck to all the players and represent!
 18. They have a couple talented players including a big 6'3" WR Chris Dumas and a good tailback as well in T'Roy Delahousse (no clue how to spell it) and some decent young talent in the sophmore class. I don't see them winning more than a game or two though.
 19. Man, this is getting good already! HD will be ready come playoff time no matter who they face. Alto will be VERY GOOD regardless of who their head coach is. I do think that the players that Mart lost will hurt come playoff time. Cosby and Thomas are electric though and they are still the defending region III champs until someone knocks them off. Alto wins their district with West Sabine finishing second and SA coming in third with a young team. Mart will beat Bosqueville and Axtell and win district 12. This would put Alto and Mart on a collision course in the third round, the same place San Augustine ran into mart in 2012. I think HD beats WS in Rd 2 and rolls to regionals against the Mart/Alto winner (which i think will be Alto). I'm sure Joaquin, Timpson, Harleton, Carlisle and the folks from District 9 will have plenty to say about this as well. My top teams going into the season: 1. Alto 2. Mart 3. HD 4. WS
 20. HD does have a great group of kids and the community and team is excited for what 2013 will bring.  Our focus is on getting better during off-season and through the summer. Hardin is first on the schedule and that is who we will be looking at. One game at a time. I'm not looking ahead to Alto, Mart, or San Augustine, and I'm sure Coach Finney isn't either. If they are looking ahead at all during this time of the year, it's at Iola, Colmesneil, and West Hardin. That's who we have to beat to get to where we want to be. One slaughter at a time, and Hardin happens to be on the menu first....
 21.
2012 Undefeated 11-1A-I District Champion Hull-Daisetta Bobcats: Returning players to watch for the 2013-14 season: 1. RB/LB: 2012 District MVP: Darrell Lavalais 2. DE/OL: 2012 District Defensive MVP: Ken Lavalais 3. WR/CB/K: 2012 District Special Teams MVP: Dustin Welch 4. WR/FS: Aaron Mosley 5. DT/FB: Chris Herman 6. QB/CB: Austin Edmondson 7. LB/TE: Cade Huckaby 8. DE/OL: Kyle Hopkins 9. DT/OL: Dezman Cook 10. RB/CB: Chase Hill
The Bobcats will definitely be loaded. Tyler Carey (T-Red) is a nice little CB and scat back, Colby Espree at 6' 200lbs can play LB or Safety and any of the RB positions, junior to be Leyson Cassity will be a nice defensive player at potential backup QB at 6'3" 190lbs and sophomore to be David Todd may be a top newcomer at DE/TE at 5'11" 220lbs. I honestly can't remember an HD squad with this much returning talent in the last couple decades. Not to mention a great coaching staff and tremendous off-season program. The sky's the limit for this team in 2013.
 22. I don't think Alto will be as good without Gardner as they would have been with him, so I do see somewhat of a setback. With that being said, I don't think that West Sabine will be able to beat Alto's talent, especially losing Lacy. West Sabine will be tough as nails and has plenty of play makers. San Augustine will be tough again, but they lost way too much talent to compete with Alto in my opinoin. I still think Alto wins that district even without Gardner. Alto vs. Teneha early on will be a great measuring stick because Teneha will be loaded again.
 23. That butter taste still lingers. All junk aside, congrats to Coack Gardner in a great career.
If Alto wins their district (as they should), they will go on the bottom side of the bracket in Region III along with Mart (assuming they win their district as well). HD wouldn't run into Alto or Mart until the regional final. Granted that's a LONG way away and anything can happen....
 25. Just read where Alto Yellowjacket head football coach Keith Gardner retired. He spent the last 8 years at Alto and won 2 state championships while putting together an 80-20 record. This is a great coaching opportunity for a proven or up and coming head coach. Alto is loaded for the upcoming season and should be one of the top teams in the state in 1A.
