I got out there about 10:45PM. I saw a couple of people fishing on the seawall.
were you the guy walking by yourself up on the shrimp dock in a blue uniform?
I never went to the docks, only to the seawall.

I have never heard of anyone selling them. Just catch them on the shore near where you fish. You can catch the usually seen blue crab and get the same results. According to how big of a fish you are going for, either crack it and fish with the whole big crab or shell it and use half of it or less for smaller drum and reds.
We're going out there tonight with lights hope there's not to much July fourth commotion near the water
After the fireworks show, I fished for about 20 minutes. I caught one at almost 18" and a couple of undersized ones. I couldn't see much moving where I was so I gave it up early.
 5.
Hows the water there? It's bad in the bay
I was okay I guess and not really muddy in the channel from all the rain. On Pleasure Island last night near the boat basin, we saw lots of fish exploding in huge schools of shad. We were at work and couldn't fish though. I saw one guy make a cast with a shad on his hook and in about 10 seconds he hooked one up but lost it by the bank. We left as it started to rain but we still saw them exploding in those schools of shad.
what time are you headed out??
I am not sure about the tide tonight. I might go about 10PM-ish if I go...... and if the weather holds.
 8.
87 was closed last night Idk when its going to be open again
It's a good thing that I am not going that way then.  :)
 9.
I was going to go last night but i figured the water would be too screwed up from that hurricane....
I didn't worry about the water so much in the ship channel but it was still raining and fairly windy. Maybe tonight.
 10. I am off from now until July 10th and I might make some nighttime fishing trips if the weather will clear up from this storm. I will have to check and see how the tides are running.
 11. It started raining from the outer bands of Alex so I didn't go fishing. I start vacation today so I might make some night trips in the next few days.
So how are those IFS holdin up???
Since I work the night shift, I don't know yet. I might get off in an hour or so if it is slow and if the other sergeant stays the rest of the night.
 13. If the weather holds and if I can get off of work early tonight, I might try my luck but that is two big "IFS".
 14. A couple of guys went out last night and took 20 of them home but it took about 4 hours.
 15.
Haha that aint right
I can't talk, he caught more than me last time.... which amounted to one fish by him and I struck out.  ;D
 16.
I here ya. I Broke my leg last saturday.... I was still able to make it.... I sure wasn't goin to back out on all the other guys.
Well, if you would have backed out, Hippy could have won.
 17. I agree on the commitment. Six boats would have been a good little tourney. If I say that I will fish, I would have to be in the hospital to not show.
 18. Well, what's the poop? Who won? Any fish to speak of? Big fish? Surely someone in the tourney has a smart phone.  :D
 19. Good luck to everyone and have a safe trip.
 20. The US is playing soccer?
 21.
the trout running anywhere?  i'm back in town and ready to fish!
\ They are all over the lake chasing birds and under the lights at night.
 22. I am not giving that one up.  ;)
 23.
Heres a link to the tide chart I use, there is a reporting station close to the Pleasure Is bridge its listed as Port Author neches channel I think, there are several in and around Sabine lake, if you run the GPS#s at the top of the the page it on Google E it will show the exact loca of each station. I'm gonna wait for wind to lay some before I take my 7y/o grandson, but the wind could blow the skeeters away tho... the link >> [Hidden Content]
That one showed the low at almost 10:00PM so that was in the same ballpark, accounting for being farther upstream.
 24.
Looking at the tide chart, you guys have been fishing a high tide with not much water movement, am I correct. Thinking of going out tonite, you failed to mention what type of bait, lure or brand of dynomite, inquiring minds are wanting to know....
I showed the low tide at Mesquite point at about 8:30PM. I figured we were about 2.5 hours behind which was about right. The tide in the ship channel was moving pretty good until about 11:30PM when it slowed a good bit. It became almost slack tide about Midnight. The guy I was with was catching his on artificial (since that is all that he uses) and I split my time with plastics and live bait. There was plenty of shad in the water and I was using them with good success under a cork maybe 12" down. He almost always uses glow with chartreuse tail Cocahoe Minnows. I used various soft plastics but mostly the Cocahoe or Trout Killers. I also caught a couple on chartreuse glitter but the glow seem to work more consistently. We didn't catch any fish (or even see any) until the tide started to slow and then they turned on when it went slack. I went home after about an hour with my limit but they were still hitting. We probably tossed about 20 or more that were undersized.
