Dayton seems to always play well at PNG. Btw were the last two games at Dayton? Anyway I'm hoping the Indians don't have a let down; they need to finish up a perfect regular season. I'm sure CJ will inspire them to.

Yep. Every year is a new year everywhere. One kid moves to Lumberton to live with Dad. Another moves to Bridge City to live with Mom. A few others graduate. A whole bunch move up from JV and grow 4" taller and gain 25 lbs during the off season.

Still? PNG 35 - 21

Port Neches-Groves (43) @ Montgomery (38) - FINAL

I don't know exactly what point spread = a so-called blowout, but I didn't expect as close a game as it turned out to be, although Montgomery always plays PNG a good game. This one was a real barn burner. BTW the score in the thread title ain't right. -

Montgomery QB reminds me of Shea Adams, from the '22-'23 Indians. -
IMO the final scores were similar, by my definition of similar, as reflected by the comparisons we're making. But regardless, it's fun to run the numbers and guess the scores, which is why we are all participating on this forum in the first place. It's up to the boys to play the game. Like someone said up above, it should be a good game. Hoping for good weather, no injuries, and cheering for PNG.

Just tagging on to your premise: Montgomery and Lake Creek were tied 15-15, or thereabouts, at the half. Ended up 42-31. PNG led Lake Creek at the half 42-0, with the final score 45-21, with pretty much the entire bench playing the second half. I think LC kicked 2 or 3 on-side-kicks in the 2nd half. The second half was essentially a scrimmage. Vs Huntsville, the final scores were fairly similar, although Montgomery played well for 2 halves, and PNG came alive in the 2nd half, 29-0, after trailing 10-29. The only other common opponents are Splendora and West Fork, and one can slice and dice those scores any way you want. We'd really have something to hang our hat on I think if Montgomery would have played LaPorte in a pre-district game. Or even Klein Oak.

Two different teams now. Especially PNG's team. Last year's game the #1 RB (Chatagnier) went down early with injury, and Tyson Henry was running with a bad ankle. Different core of receivers last year, different defense, or defensive effort, perhaps. This could end up being a close game, I don't know, but I don't see it having to do with last season's game.

Nederland by two FGs. 20 - 14

PNG has done pretty well at Montgomery stadium so far. Besides, if you're going to be in the playoffs then get used to not playing at home.
-
Yeah, they used to occasionally do a halfback pass when they had a halfback, and sometimes would throw to the RB coming out of the backfield with no screen.
-
They pass to #1 sometimes too. I don't immediately recall seeing PNG throw a pass to a RB yet all season. They may have but I don't remember seeing it.

I'm straying from the topic a bit, but wasn't the Nederland interception (after the PNG interception of the half back pass) just an underthrown ball after the QB scrambled out of the pocket? The receiver didn't come back for it, but the defender did. This is strictly from memory, I haven't seen a replay. The pass shouldn't have been thrown perhaps, but who knows. Anyway, I've watched a little of the Montgomery - Dayton game, and a little of the Mont. - West Fork game. WF didn't appear to me to give hardly any effort against Mont. Mont beat Dayton and lost to KW Park, and Dayton rolled KWP. Laporte rolled over KWP as well. IMO PNG should be able to take it to them. You never know of course, but I say if PNG keeps it going like they are then they will win by several TDs. The receivers caught most of the passes last night except a couple or three by one particular receiver, who I think is a great athlete and very capable, and that's why they continue to throw to him. If he ever gets it together then I think he'll be lights out.

PNG was simply the bigger and faster team last night, IMO. I saw positives for the Bulldogs though, although the option pitch out whatever you call it play wasn't one of them. Also IMO the Bulldog QB, Sheppard, should have had more carries, even if PNG made adjustments. Edit: I won't be surprised if they beat Huntsville. -

I don't recall, my comment was based on the sub varsity scores thread on this site. -

By the looks of the JV scores yesterday, there may be some up and coming varsity starters for the Bulldogs. As for both of the QBs tonight, I'd be interested to see the stats. -
