Did you see any of the Clemson-Miami game? There is hope for Arkansas; none for Miami...

Hang in there king. Put your U gear in the back of the closet for awhile and find another team to pull for... That works well for me and Mr Buddy Garrity! Of course, you will also be labeled as a t-shirt fan! The U will be back, but it's gonna be awhile.

shovel got a reaction from UTfanatic in #15 Texas A&M at #24 Ole Miss
baddog, I was thinking that after the Bama game. Allen had meltdown last week, and completely destructed last night. I used to criticize Urban Meyer for babying Tebow, but watching Sumlin let Allen burn uncontrolled is worse. That was the ugliest SEC game I've seen. Poor play is one thing, but the poor sportsmanship was worse. I expected an offensive shootout, but got a dumpster fire instead. All the Ags that threw rocks at Strong and Texas are looking silly now...

shovel reacted to Mr. Buddy Garrity in Nederland 30 Port Neches-Groves 27/Final
yes! With a long playoff run, beating or losing to NED doesn't win you state. Be careful wth you may wish for Indians, unless you get Gary Joseph or the Cedar Hill HC or Allen HC or Jeff Traylor or Scott Surratt you in good hands.

shovel got a reaction from Mr. Buddy Garrity in Fournette. .
Miles will run the wheels off the Fournette wagon, because it's his best chance to win. Putting up gaudy numbers every week makes him the Heisman favorite too.

Mallet will suffice for now. The bigger holes are the defensive secondary and running back. Didn't see the game this weekend, but I don't believe Winston was sacked. Where is the pass rush?

One thing I known about these kids coming up in youth football was that........ They where coachable kids that always carried a chip on there shoulders & and THEYHATED too lose. Down this journey since the AGE of 5 until now. As a Team (Brotherhood) they Took devastated Loses ( STJFL Flag Superbowl) (STFL 1Year Jr. Tackle) (Pop Warner (1Game Before Nationals) (BC 7th Grade) & THE STATE Game! They learned there weakness about themselves over the years, in each one of those loses... . But worked hard at not making the same mistake twice.. I know they Young to alot of people but this is the moment this Brotherhood been waiting, and grinding for this since the age of 5. Im so proud of these kids, keep working hard to get better each day & earning youll respect because you'll know it's not giving.

I thought this game was ugly! Way too many penalties from both teams. WOS should have beat us by a couple more scores. I believe that this game did expose some weaknesses for both teams. Did see a lot of positives too. Jack Dallas has matured a lot since I saw him last year. What a quarterback! KJ Dad, your son had a good game too! Good luck to the Mustangs this season. I will try to see y'all again in the playoffs. The Indians will bounce back, too. A couple of weeks to iron out the wrinkles and it will be fun again.

DIVIDE. Look at almost every single post to this. But we only complain when the media do it. Prayers to the families.

shovel got a reaction from TxHoops in Baylor situation
Some thoughts from an old guy:
I've been a fan of Art Briles since I saw his Stephenville team beat PNG in the Astrodome. I read his biography and admired him as a coach and a person. This certainly clouds that admiration, though, I haven't heard Briles side of the story. I do have mixed feelings here...
Football is a violent sport played by violent men. Some can turn it on when on the field, and turn it off when not. I think of examples like Howie Long and Michael Strahan. Others may not be able to turn it off. While their barbaric actions work well on a football field, they are criminal in a civilized society.
Then there is the money thing. It is phenomenal how much a small, private Baptist college in Waco Texas has changed over the last decade. The campus is much improved and McLane Stadium is out of this world! Baylor is a serious contender for a National Championship this year!
Have Art Briles and others sold their integrity to build this? How can Baylor, TCU, Boise State or anyone not in a powerhouse program recruit or compete with the powerhouse programs ? As fans that funnel money into this; are we partly to blame?
Rape and sexual assault are vicious crimes and cannot be tolerated. A hard line must be drawn here, and I think for the most part, it has been. It gets fuzzy when we start getting close to that line. For Art Briles and others to succeed, they have to take players who are top program talent, yet aren't in top programs.
I guess I have more questions than answers. I love football, especially on Fridays and Saturdays. I still want to pull for Baylor and other underdogs. When the 2nd chance player turns thing around, it is a feel good story we all like. When the 2nd chance player is convicted of rape and assault and only gets 180 days in jail, it feels dirty and disgusting. I'm not sure where I'm going with this and I'm not sure I will like the outcome. As a Christian and good citizen, I have to examine this some more.

shovel got a reaction from Mr. Buddy Garrity in Houston Texans
C'mon Wildcats! The Texans almost made the playoffs with Fitz QB'ing. I think O'Brien can do well with what he has. I still advise you against betting MBG. I ought to go ahead and buy Buddy a burger. That's how I've started the last couple of seasons. At least I can have a burger too instead of crow...

shovel got a reaction from Mr. Buddy Garrity in Preseason CFB AP Poll
I believe sportswriters would put USC, Ohio State and Notre Dame in the top 25 even if they couldn't field a team. At least Ohio State is deserving of their ranking.

shovel reacted to OldTimer in Baylor situation
Fact is that there are a lot of football players that are kicked out of schools that can still play and perhaps should be given a second chance - however, if it was left up to me any felony - specially ones that involve sexual assault - would be prohibited from any second chance options.
