Nice post Griff, I'm wondering if this team is similar to the Sinton team a few years ago? Sinton also had a threat QB/WR dual.

The Navarro QB is no where near as good as the one from Sinton two years ago. That dude from Sinton could sling it or take off in a heartbeat. He was the best QB we saw in 2014. Even better than the Gilmer QB. The Navarro QB is committed to a run-oriented offense and also plays some defense. They don't throw very much, but their THREAT to throw is better than any other slot-T team we've played. They will take shots throwing downfield on occassion where all other slot-T teams just dink and dunk throws five yards past the line of scrimmage. Our secondary guys can cover them, but we have to be alert to this as part of their playbook.

What do you expect them to say.....we are slow and they are a lot faster than us ?? They are pretty fast or they wouldn't have made it this far, and you don't have too be real big to block well. Sorry WOS I am going with the upset this week...... N. Ger. 31-27     what

Now THIS is either a total homer pick or an attempt to get reaction.

Brobie, I respect what Navarro has accomplished. It's the best team in their school's history. I've been watching game film on them all season knowing there was a good possibility we (WO-S) would play them in round 5. I was one of the few who picked them to beat Cuero. Here we are. WO-S has seen your team's offense eight or nine times this year. Navarro runs it better than all of the other teams we've seen, Plus, compared to all the other slot-T teams, they have the best passing game within that offense. Having a 6'3" dual threat QB/WR sure helps, too. I expect a competitive game from the Panthers.

Regardless of who wins, here is one thing you will conclude after this game. If you think your team is fast, you are about to witness CRAZY team speed. Go Mustangs!

To the contrary again. We want a shot to knock off the big dog. We may get our ass kicked.......but we want a chance.

I think y'all are taking me all wrong. I'm just a dude that loves high school football. I like my team just like y'all like yours. But I also don't wear blinders. Lots of good football teams in this state. I keep up with the ones with tradition and history. And those are the ones I enjoy getting to play the most.

A couple of you are misreading losteraussie. He is a Gilmer alum who has always been respectable to us here and at the downlow site. None of his comments are meant as smack or disrespectful. I can say that from communicating with the guy for several years. So, even though he is from "enemy territory", he is here just to chat high school football, not to rile up the WO-S fans. I'm just offering some perspective on the guy so you'll know his intent.

    1. Old guy well passed 18

    2. Why does it bother you so much lol.

    3. Winners of state give me a break

Old guy? You post on sites everywhere sounding like a juvenile. Really, you're like a fly buzzing around the room that needs to be swatted. No matter, WO-S will likely win state and you'll still be saying things like this:

    1) You didn't beat any good teams.

    2) You had to play only one east Texas team.

    3) East Texas teams had a better strength of schedule.

    4) You couldn't handle 4AD1 teams.

It's all been said before, and after, again, and again, and again...

So, I'm saving you the cyber space. We know what drivel will be produced from your keyboard, so save us the nonsense and go watch your team play basketball.

  5. I will be in the minority with this pick, but I see Navarro squeaking out a win by five points or less. Cuero had Navarro's number the last three years in the playoffs, but this time I believe Navarro breaks through. They are a senior filled team, full of motivation to get that green monkey off their back, they've added a nice little passing game to their offensive structure, and it's the best team in their school history. In one sense, this is like a state championship game for Navarro. Just getting by Cuero is gonna take all they've got, and with this senior laden bunch, I think they'll find a way.

I read all that stuff to on Smoaky but I don't post. It's kinda like my Daddy can whip you Daddy crap. Now several guys on the Downlow I go back and forth with but it's all in fun because I have met them and actually friends with a couple. You guys and girls don't take anything I say to heart cause I'm certainly not over here to pee in anyone's Post Toasties!!!!

The Wos fans are some(not all) a little over the top.......but that's ok. You have built something to be proud of. Just remember.......all good things come to an end.......and I hope it's comes crashing down Dec. 16th. Not because I don't like WOS........ because I like my team better!!!!

No problem. If WO-S makes it to the title game, we can save a seat for you on our side at AT&T since you really want to sit there. :)

I saw them in person, not even close to Kennedale. Or probably even Silsbee for that matter.

Agreed. They do not have the rushing threat Silsbee has, for sure. Kennedale was better and Robinson has the best offense we've seen so far. Giddings is good, but not great. If Liberty had not turned over the ball three times in the red zone, they win. Also, they should have produced a pick 6 if the defender had not tripped himself. Then there's the two other trips in the red zone in the 4th quarter for Liberty that needed just slightly better execution to finish the drives. So many missed opportunties. You can add potentially 4-6 more scores for Liberty. The Panthers had not been in this position before. A smaller margin of error is required to win these playoff games. Still, you gotta give credit to Giddings for winning, but they see a totally different animal this week.

  8. This game, because of the opponent, has a little something extra to it for a number of WO-S fans. We've had a history with Giddings. One of the worst (and most unecessary) losses EVER in WO-S program history came against Giddings during Earl Thomas' senior year. Some of the absolute worst offensive playcalling ever occurred that night and the better team lost. I still have a bad taste in my mouth from that game. Then there was the year we beat Giddings in another playoff game and their Head Coach at the time (Fitzhenry) refused to shake hands with Coach Hooks. Fitzhenry is long gone, but these two experiences make some of our fans want to beat the snot out of the Buffaloes.

BC o-line. I think they've only given up two sacks all year.

For real, though.... everybody knows what we're going to do, but our backs still get hundreds of yards each week. That's the line.

This is not a knock on the BC line, but...BC rarely passes the ball, therefore, the QB is hardly ever eligible for a sack in that style of offense. Their run blocking and Draper's plowing into linebackers has been very good.

Were going to watch Liberty first at 2 if you want to tag along

I texted you about this and never heard back. Has your number changed? A few of us are taking in the double header, as well. I only wish our game started a little later so we could get a bite to eat in between like two years ago, but that's alright. I'll look for you and your dad.

TD , these young men are doing great , as kicker well knows a world of issues can occur on a point after kick, that's why they call it an attempt . Kudos to kicker for taking the time to work with them.

Let it also be said that #49's kickoffs have been inside the 10 yard line almost every time, and more than a few times at the goal line. That IS a big improvement and makes it even tougher on the receiving team because our guys are fast downfield to make that big hit and tackle. Kickoff coverage and forcing not-so-good field position has been a success on this year's team and that all begins with good kickoffs. Nice work, Chad Dallas.

And I didn't even have to say anything else for my point to be made. Dude everyone has the peaches behind a keyboard. We all know that WOS is good and should win STATE. The problem is there is a way to go about it or not. Win with class and loose with class. Don't get on here a show your ***!!! Like I have said some WOS fans are very respectful and don't try and shove how good they are down everyone's through. Then there are posters like you that makes folks hate on WOS! All I am trying to get you to see is to win with class.

They are winning with class. One or two posters displaying something other than that does not take away from what the coaches and players exhibit on the field. So, just ignore the few bad apples.

Eric was the RB that got hurt. Cleveland was a stud.

Eric Williams was injured the week before against Baytown Sterling. Also, we were without Jim Bob Aven, who was all district center. Nothing against Dwayne Young (his replacement), but we could have used Jim Bob against that middle LB from Yates - Melvin Foster. He was the #1 recruit in the state that year.
