Most WO-S fans have always considered Jasper our top rival (since the 80's) and the team we look forward to playing more than any other. It did not change even when Jasper had a few less than stellar teams in the following decades. Splitting the two games last year has increased the glitter on that match up. Jasper's #2 ranking is well deserved. It's gonna be fun to watch 4AD2 Region 3. 

I can't remember a regular season where there were as many rainy Fridays as last year. I hope the Lord has many dry Fridays in store for us in 2019. No team can be at their best on a wet field.

The pre-season polls will likely have Pleasant Grove #1 (they return a bunch) and Jasper #2.

It looked to me as if Silsbee put up a little better fight on Cuero than Pleasant Grove did. One thing that left me scratching my head is why the Silsbee offense did not try to run more on the edges. They had good success doing that, but instead called too many running plays between the tackles. That difference in strategy might have lead Silsbee to a narrow win.

Now, I thought it would be evident to even the most casual observer of HS football, but let me illustrate with a few quick examples. 

Easiest to see is FORT BEND MARSHALL. Four star Junior QB Malik Hornsby just "moved in" from woefully inept Houston Austin, along with others, and FBM made the state finals. Think they moved there for "acedemic reasons"? LOL

KATY: Why is Katy Tigers are so resented by all the other programs in that district? Could it be many of the best athletes in the whole KATY ISD move around to end up as Katy Tigers? 

LCM has complained for years some of their best end up at WOS.

How many piney woods athletes have moved to live with "Aunti" to make a run at State?   

Port Arthur constantly complains about losing kids to Ned and PN-G.

Poor Hamshire Fannet has lost some of their best players to Ned, PN-G and EC. 

BISD players have been inported to several surrounding schools immeadiatly boosting their programs. 

BH just hired from ALLEN, who is the poster child for illegle recruiting in TX. See the recent 3 part Dallas Morning News expose'.

Thats all I want to say here. This topic has been discussed enough. I know I am an exception, but I still have the audacity to think rules should be respected and complied with. The definition of integrity is "doing the right thing, even when no one is watching". It runs diametrically opposed to the "Its OK as long as we can get away with it" attitude today. How many "mail box" jokes have to be told? Heck, even Ken Purcell openly laughed about Aledos QB's parents mysteriously getting jobs in Aledo during the State Championship TV broadcasts. Thats just Sad.      

 

Your points are understood and I agree with this.

One additional note...concerning the WO-S/LCM item...for any complaints made about players transferring from LCM to WO-S, you must put this into perspective. Historically, there have been MANY more students who have transferred OUT of WO-S to LCM for football reasons than the other way around. It's not because they want so bad to play for LCM. The reason is they could not meet the demands of WO-S football practices and coaches discipline. There are countless examples of this.

On the other hand, if you tried to implement WOS's program in a place like BC, they'd fire the coach before two-a-days were over. 

 

IMO:

IF you took a top level guy and brought him in to a place like BC

Got community support for the coach/program like they do in other places (Newton, WOS)

Had a 3-4 years to develop skilled and non-skilled players 

Got a lucky move-in or two

Then yes.... I think you could develop a consistent team that would play in December a lot of years.  But I don't think it happens without any of the above listed components. 

You are correct, sir. A few years back, two new coaches joined the WO-S staff - one from a school near Austin and another from a local school (in fact, a district rival). After their first days of practice and workouts, both coaches made the statement that if their former schools ran practice like WO-S does, half the team would quit the first day. Furthermore, one of the coaches (from the district rival) said he and other coaches on his former staff used to talk among themselves wondering if WO-S was doing something improper which would explain why they have consistently good teams every season. After his first few days experiencing practices with WO-S, he concluded there was nothing improper, it's simply "the WO-S kids are just tougher kids than the ones at my former school (his words)." 

Coaching, athletic ability, coaching, community support, coaching, tradition, coaching, expectations, coaching, off season program, coaching, demanding practices, coaching, intense physical work outs, coaching, player development at the lower grades, coaching...

The support and constant advocacy for the Tigers made it predictable, but I missed the press conference.

If the rest of the (WO-S) world were like you, the visitor's side at Provost Humphrey Stadium would be empty, but the Katy/Northshore game would receive a bump in attendance.

A lot of what you saw from Sweeny was exhaustion. Our coaches noticed how the Sweeny players looked gassed after the first half. WO-S was the better conditioned team and that's a big reason why we won the game in the 4th quarter. It's also a big attribute to WO-S's past success - conditioning. Sweeny was physically wore out.

No, they don't have to win it. After the game is final, we have game #500 in books and the highest winning percentage will still be tops whether we win or lose to Silsbee.

Yes it has been a tough road but they have not played mustang football for 4 full quarters against tough competition, winnable games for wos but the cougars , Bulldogs and eagles got it done and we didn't bottom line congrats to each team and goodluck the rest of the year. Now let's get to the juice. Still need to play 4 quarters nothing is a lock. Read our keys and tackle well on defense and move the chains on offense. Woking nights up here in Minnesota is starting to get real chilli. It's hard sitting around waiting on friday nights to hear kogt. They take no pride up here in their high school football up here it's dead. I showed them a picture of Allen football stadium they ask me what college was that and I said that's a high school stadium, they almost passed out. I showed them some highlights of different teams including the golden triangle and they can't enough. I will always show love to my town, and my state. Texas is king in football and I dont mind talking about us at all and they don't mind listening. When I come out of town to work I'm not representing wos I'm representing texas and  when it comes to Friday nights I miss home. Talking with u guys on here helps me stay sane. I love all of u guys on here and we all want the same thing good clean high football fun. Going to Ohio next probably til the end of November. So keep me updated on everything guys I really appreciate. With all of that being said my CRYSTAL BALL it stangz 35 bc 20. Good day.

Crosby should air it out. The secondary for Vidor is very small and so far they've been untested. I believe they are vulnerable to the pass and Crosby should pounce on that match up.

You sure have invested much commentary into these threads after earlier this season saying none of these games matter. Do you still have that reservation in Dallas?

More of our fans need to appreciate the PROCESS of building a winning team. The 2018 WO-S Mustangs are in a different place than we're accustomed to and we must allow more time to become a team capable of reaching the ultimate goal. It will take longer to get to where we want to be this time around. This is one of the reasons why we play the games - the pre-district and district games - games that matter on record and in the development of a team.

No, sir. Maybe YOU meant "stop rotating QBs", but more than one remark was made about our sophomore QB being not ready and specifically about his performance against Newton. Therefore, my reply was directly to those people and their comments. If you are not lumped into those, then it was not meant for you. 

All the talk about WO-S finding a QB needs to take a rest. Please. The sophomore QB we have has tracked nicely upward with his play at every level since 7th grade. This was his second start, in wet and sloppy field conditions, with an all time great Newton team in front of him. That should stop being the measuring stick for this kid. He is right where he needs to be. Have patience and show some better reasoning here, please. He will be fine. I expect improvement from him throughout the season. So should you. Watch and see.
