This next school year will be the first in many, many years that the name Foster will not be walking the halls in Big Sandy.  Kevin’s uncle, Thomas Foster, as well as Kevin, are synonymous with Big Sandy.  I’m glad that I’ve had the privilege of watching Kevin coach for many years.  I count him as a friend, and he will be missed walking the sidelines next year.  Good luck to him and his family on whatever the future holds for them!  Maybe one day, one of his boys will add to the Foster legacy at Big Sandy.

Absolutely. One of the best staffs in the area. I would guess both assistants will be head coaches in the next few years. 

Yes, will be much deeper next year, but Wrinkle will be a huge loss

Orangefield won district at every sub-varsity level.  And 7th grade through Varsity, they’ve lost one game.  That’s right one (the first varsity game with Kountze obviously).  The future is very bright for Bobcat basketball I would say.  (Thanks to Mr. Todd Shores for that info.)

Guys, girls, we can't thank you enough for all of the positivity on this thread! I promise you I show him everything that is said, some for encouragement, and then some of the other threads to fuel his fire, lol!
Just please know that over the years folks haven't always been too kind because its easier to spread negativity and dog someone else rather than actually go and outwork them. We have learned to really embrace those that show support, because those kinds of genuine folks are very rare in today's World!

We really appreciate you saying that sir. He has worked real hard and is on pace so that is a real possibility. Honestly, he tells me, "Daddy, I want to put banners on the wall and win! The points are just a bonus." I'm super proud that his goal is to win and just let the personal accolades come naturally. When you hit goals while doing things the right way, they seem to mean that much more.

I’ve only been following 25 years and change.  But assuming the good Lord keeps him healthy, I can’t imagine he won’t end up being the best to lace em up during my time here.  Remarkable he’s only a sophomore.  

Broke 1,000 career points last night against Kirbyville!

Thank you very much to the Orangefield coaches, staff and community for a great tournament. Onalaska got exactly what we needed out of it by playing real competition in one of the best areas in the state for basketball. Great preparation for district play next week for our program. 

Thought BC and OF both looked good against HJ. Didn’t see any of the BC/OF one.   HJ missing its top 5 or 5 of its top 6 guys.  #20 from BC I really liked and they had a scrappy group.  I know they were missing a couple as well, one of which apparently may not play this year who has some size.  OF has a couple of key kids still in football too but they are better and deeper than I realized.  The scales kid may have been the best player in the gym today.  Kid can go. 

My prediction - Whitmire leads OF to a district championship! 

It probably is a dad that wants the best for their kid…. The problem is the dad doesn’t realize coaches don’t want overbearing parents and parents they need to run their game plan by or parents that post everything on Facebook about their decision and ridicule the other players on the team.  I’m guessing this dad thinks that post would actually entice a good coach but doesn’t realize how wrong he is by posting it and how it actually keeps good coaches from ever being interested in going there. 

San Antonio is cool. But there is nothing like the state tournaments at the Drum for all those years 

First i want to tip my hat to the OF coaching staff they did an amazing job this year, congrats to all the players but more importantly Pete Ragusa you had a spectacular season and career , keep your head up ,the next chapter of your life is coming ,we’ll see you in college !!!!!

With the Indians being in Crosby tonight I got to take this one in as I have family in Buna. There were 3 tough calls down the stretch with 2 of them going the cougars way. I'm not sure the Cougars led very much in this one, Connell hit a huge shot to tie the game but the play that happened afterward was absolutely a foul. The cougars are solid, and have nothing to hang their heads about. 
 

I saw video of that last play. That was no "touch" foul. The Buna player completely displaced the Orangefield player on the inbounds play. I don't know how the game was called (tight or loose) but that was definitely a foul and was correctly called.
Even the Buna player knew he had screwed up and was over aggressive going for the ball.

Why so much focus on how this one player is guarded and what his results are. This is a very solid team with many good pieces. If they can keep improving on different parts of their team, they can make a very deep run. Maybe even accomplish some things that no other Bobcat team has done.

Nothing special about the cut. #24 ran from the wing to the block and his defender was watching the ball and had no clue where his man was. Heads up play by the PG to see him through some traffic, but not good defense by the cougars in that situation.
