1.
Just a heads up.  If you're going to use a word to insult someone's intelligence, you might want to spell it right. I don't care who you had to play, the bottom line is Humble's playoff success has been minimal in comparison to Dayton's in recent years.  If you think getting beat in the first round is better than making the deep runs that Dayton has, I can't help you.  Also, you have no clue what kind of success Coach Stewart would or wouldn't have had in Humble.  I also love how you say yall aren't hanging on to the past yet you bring up Quillens in a thread about Humble/Friendswood 2010.  I never said Humble wouldn't win the district yall are in.  When all the realignment talk was going on I said Humble wouldn't win district if put in Dayton's district.  Unfortunately we won't get to find out.
Again, frazier....i am not interested in having a pissing match with you...yet you insist.  The fact that you are on here parading around about how awesome dayton is only a testament on how incredibly pathetic you are.  I have never in all my years of following High School Football met a fan with such arrogance and disrespect for other programs achievements.  Its a shame too, because i tend to think downgoesfrazier when thinking of the fans of Dayton.    AND i know that isn't the case, lot of good folks out that way. For a program that has done a really good job of making it to the playoffs and hanging around a 1-3 rounds , you sure do act like you are some sort of program on the level of The Katy Tigers or North Shore Mustangs.  Good Lord..the way you talk about Stewart as if the guy just craps out State Championship Trophies... You are a 4A Region III power...That is the extent of your greatness.  I could say the same thing about Dayton as i could about Humble Pre-2007.  Hey that Cody Green kid had a couple of really good years in him huh?  but bad news, he graduated.  and he aint coming back. Go take a look at what you all have done prior to that....Man, can't be proud of that...make you look a lot like the 4a version of Humble. Be proud of your kids...proud of your program...no beef with any of it.  Just seems that you really really dislike the 'Cats.  Im proud of our traditions, as you are of yours.  Yall have been great on this level, and it to be commended.  But save me the "We're Dayton" persona....i really don't give a rats ass.
 2.
As a true Mustang fan, I certainly think we can win this week, and will be there pulling for them. This game though is going to be a tough one. I don't think Humble has seen an offense like FW has, and it is possible that we have not seen a defense like Humble's. Quick scouting report: The Mustangs are well coached true spread offense. We have a clutch QB, #6 Pete Meatzold, that can and will make all the throws. He spreads the ball around very well. We have 5 players that catch balls consistently, If you have a weakness in the secondary, we will find it. The true key to this years offense has been the quality of the running game, #5 Johnathan Johnson, a Junior Texas Tech commit, is a scary scatback kind of runner. When we spread the field with all the receivers, which you MUST honor, he has a broken field to run in, which he does very effectively. Meatzold is also a very good runner, he gives us another aspect that we have not had in the past. We have a huge O line, that is led by A&M commit #50 Ben Compton (6'3" 300, 4.9 40) at left Tackle, the rest of the line averages 260 plus. This year's offense may be the best overall we have had ever. Ask Dayton what they would think of a FW offense that is even better than any of the ones they ever faced. The Defense is underrated, and has given up a lot of points this year, but has held in several crunch time situations. Some of their negatives are due directly to the quality of the 24-4a opposition. They are well coached, usually in the right place at the right times, and faster than they get credit for, again more due to the quality of opposition than a distinct lack of speed. Our tackling has sometimes been a little suspect, we often have given up lots of yard after the first hit. We do have a couple of good D linemen, #66 Manning is a big fast DL that disrupts a lot of plays. Compton often plays DT in crunch time, he can absolutely crush an offensive line. Please Please Please kick it deep to us. I am sure you wont, and if you do your coach should be fired. When receiving KO's, whenever we can, we will run reverses, star formations, fakes, and anything else that Van Meter can come up with in that mad scientist brain of his. Our coverage is at best average, we have been beat several times on returns, but that is one place that pure speed can often burn us. Van Meter is a great offensive coach, we are well coached, and talented. We have not played inspired of late, and have won even without a lot of intensity. I do not see that being a problem this week, I expect a fired up intense team to show up. If that team does not show up, then we don't deserve to win anyway. Good luck, Humble, Just not too much if you don't mind
We have NOT seen a offense like yours.  This is very true.  The closest thing was Willis, and lets be honest here...they weren't very good at it. I antcipate a great game, i do love however love that some people believe we have no business being on the field with you guys.  Damn us Cat's got lucky and slipped into 3rd round. I will give a breakdown of what i have observered from friendswood later this week, and you can let me know where i am wrong or where i am right.  I will say this,  i am really looking forward to this game.  It is the one that i felt that if we could get past, we have a legit shot at a title. Yalla are going to be TOUGH

Which team made the critical stop in the 4th Quarter with the game on the line? Which team made big plays on special teams like the blocked punt? Which team created turnovers? Which team ran their offense to dang near perfection? Which team won? PN-G. I am not taking anything away from Willis but to say the better team did not win is ignorant.
dude....im not being serious.  This was a comment that was made about Humble this past friday.  i was merely interjecting as was done to our thread.

What is this based on ? The Humble staff has been together for many years and has had success on a five a level. Frazier you must be a cousin of someone from Fwood.
As far as I know I'm not related to anyone that lives in Friendswood.  I hate Friendswood and would love to see yall kick their butts.  However, Van Meter is one of the best coaches around.  If your homerism doesn't allow you to see it, that's your problem.  Maybe in Dayton we have a different barometer for success, but I wouldn't call a 37-26 record (according to maxpreps) over the last 6 years in 5A successful.  I'd call that average at best.  Since we're on the subject I'd like for all of you Humble fans to say something out loud with me.  Repeat after me.  David Boston isn't coming back.  Say it again.  David Boston isn't coming back.  Wasn't that cathartic for everyone?    I know I feel better.  The sooner yall realize that the sooner the healing process can begin.  DB was a great player and yall had a great run 15 years ago, but let it go.
Beasley is currently 43-21, so it would be unfair to include Coach Quillens last year.    The man before Beasley was Neil Quillen, and Jerry is NO Neil Quillen. When you run into Katy, North Shore, and Hightower...its a little hard to win 12-13 games a season.   Dayton wouldn't of fair much better in our 5a District...
I'm assuming you're referring to Coach Stewart when you say Jerry.  You make it sound like they shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence.  Give me a break.  Career Records: Quillens 179-80 Stewart 164-61. Stewart has the advantage in winning percentage.  Quillens has more wins, but  I don't see Stewart having a problem passing that mark within the next season or two. Quillens had one great season at Humble to go along with several first round losses and several years of not making the playoffs.at all.  Jerry Stewart took over a team that was 9-41 the five seasons before he got there.  All he's done is make the playoffs every season (15 seasons) and 10 district titles.  Not to mention 3 straight years of making the quarters or better and working on a fourth.  Yep you're right he's no Quillens.  The numbers say he's better.  Could you not cry anymore about who you had to play? Those are just excuses.  I could make excuses all day about why dayton didn't win more games, but nobody cares. Either you won or you didn't.  That's all that really matters.
You are one of those embseles that looks at stats and equates them to success without taking into consideration the level of competition.  a 12-2 season doesn't trump a 7-3 season if didn't play an equivlent level of competition.  It isn't comparable. Your coach is to be comended on the job he has done where he is at.  Their is no way to cut around that.  Just Coach Stewart wouldn't of faired better in the same situation that Quillen or Beasley were in these last 10 years.  Stewart simply didn't have to match up against some of the quality of teams they did.  Their isn't a program in our area comprable to The Katy Tigers, or to North Shore (at the 4a level).  LaMarque used to be that school, but has fizzled with the growth of pearland and dickinson areas. Im not going to have a pissing match with you.  it gets old, and i really don't care how you view us.  you either respect us or you don't.  Either way, if we win...we will more then likely garner your envy or your respect.  Our kids will play hard, and will earn everything that is given to them.  My opinion matters very little, and if Dayton wants to feels superior to the Wildcats...go ahead.  Must be killing you to know that we are 11-1 though, after claiming we wouldn't win our own district...and be 1 and done.
 5.
I'm here to eat my crow.  I picked KP to beat Dayton but I should never underestimate this team.  They have risen to the level they need to be in these playoffs and have exeeded expectations after the slow start.  And I hope you guys continue to knock down the competition.   8) 8)
Dayton came out and took care of the football.  No sloppy play from them, means a Kingwood Park loss.  Kingwood Park is more improved then they have been in past years, but they still are not there.  Although the score was 49-17, i could of seen how it could of been a little lower had KP not had some major mental lapses.  Those screens that went 60-70 yards should of never happened, poor defensive play by the panthers. i predicted a 28-21 victory for the broncos, but i really thought the Broncos would come out a little sloppy.  But they have cleaned some things up, and it showed on the scoreboard.  IMO however, they still some work to do in the secondary.  Front 7 look pretty solid. #45 is a hoss.... The defense isn't the fastest around, but they ALL swarm.  And that is a great sign.
 6.
Never actually thought I'd be pulling for FWood. GO STANGS!
If you are a Kingwood fan...then i could of told you that you would be pulling for them.

I will say this the better team lossed in your game and it was the  better coaching won in YOUR game. Centrals sophmore  qb  did a  great job against a very big humble defense. If the coaches would have  spread the defense out  and continued the qb draw they would not have lost, unfortuneatly one of the three penalties the refs happened to throw was the one that brought back the winnin td for central and give yall the game. you will not get passed the next round, your offense didnt really show me  nothing but you might have had a off week for all  i know, but it will all end next week. Good luck though and go post on someone elses threads yours arent needed here. Our team played hard and so did willis, everyone knew it was gonna be a shootout and it was, as far as i am concerned the better team did advance and the team who did all the taunting got what is deserved and that was a loss. The willis band did a awesome job all night and it was a great experience  to watch, i have no voice due to the fact that i was leading the defense chants on the one key drive where we did make the winning stop! Our defense is beat up and we will need some great COACHING this next round, MANVEL is the real deal and we must prepare, win or lose  next week i am proud to watch my ndns week in week out. It has been a heck of a rollercoaster ride .
::) Hey, all i know is that i am dumbfounded on how PNG held Central to 14pts....and allowed Willis to score 47.   Im trying to approach this with the same logic that was brought forth in the Humble-Central thread... I really do wish PNG the best of luck, i believe yall have a good squad.  I am not sure what happened defensively.  As i have watched that Willis team 4-5 times, and they shouldn't of given you that much of a problem if the Central game was any indication on how good yalls Defense was. Best of luck Indians.
Hum398,   For the Central game,  the PNG D played it's best game of the season.  We hoped that they would keep it up[, but they haven't.  Last night they played about 2/3 as good as they did against  Central.  I just hope they can kick it up a couple more notches for next week.
They will need to.  It won't be possible to beat Manvel if that Defense doesn't show up.  Manvel is very talented team, very athletic.  If Willis gave you problems matching up, Manvel will be very similar. Good luck to yall.
 8.
On a side not, HUM398.  I know that your guys are battle tested and used to playing those big 5a schools, but don't underestimate FW.  They are as close to a 5a team that you'll face.  They're good.  Very well coached.  Their coach won't go braindead in the middle of a game.  And their players are very fundimentally sound.  They'll run those little gadget plays.  They'll loff you to sleep with stupid plays (and you'll think their stupid) then they'll catch you with your underwear down and hit with the big play.  Or they may short gain you all night with the short pass.  Coaching better have done his homework on this team.
They won't be underestimated.  I have full confidence the coaching staff knows how good they are.  We match up well against them schematically, and i have watched enough friendswood teams over the years to know that they are a legitimate contender year in and year out.  They are similar to the Baytown teams of the 90's and early 00's.  Their offense is their bread and butter.  They just be ready to come and play defense, because if i had to choose a team to come up with a game winning stop..it won't be the Stangs.

QB was inacurate and lofted some throws. #33 was all they had. Make the QB throw more and Central picks a few off!!! Can't believe that Humble team beat Willis by 31. Wonder what we will see tomorrow night? Future is bright for Central if Mitchell is utilized correctly. Needs a QB coach and some time working on timing on all the throws. He had WR open deep all night, but waited too long to throw, but he was making the right decisions most of the night which is impressive for a young QB. Good Season Jags. See ya again next year.
The better coached teams, are generally the better teams.   ::) Does it ever dawn on yall at all that maybe WE didn't play up to par? that WE weren't executing?   So extremely one-sided on this board its incredible.  its SETX or nothing.   i try to be as fair and balanced as possible when discussing things, but yall make it hard sometimes.   If we, and could we's don't win games.... We were down 14....Central was in position to kill us.   We fought back, caught a couple breaks....cleaned up our play...and won. (ITS WHAT GOOD TEAMS DO) geez. the worst ones aren't even Central fans.
Callin' it like I saw it. I think if you went back and looked at my posts after games you would find that when we get outplayed I state it. Nota homer
Thats fine, call it how you see it.  You just can't see.  So you are telling me that Better coached teams, aren't generally the better teams?  What exactly made Central the "better" team?  do you see where i am going with this.  The only reason why you wouldn't give Humble props for coming out of a 14pt hole, and taking every break and turning it into an advantage....is because we are on the wrong side of that River. Good teams play hard, and leave it on the field.  Great teams find ways to wins even when it seems unlikely.  But apparently....Humble just got lucky  ::)  . Not only does that discredit Humble, but it discredits Centrals efforts.  Both teams are very good, but championship contenders take advantage of breaks.  When the ball bounces funny, you have to teach your kids how to handle it....pick it up...and take it the distance.  Both teams had their chance to seal the deal.  Central lead by 14 at one point, and Humble by 10.  Had central been able to score 1 or two more scores, it may of been enough to stop us from surging.  Had Humble scored in the fourth instead of kicking the field goal, it would of put Humble up by 14pts...and likely of sealed the win then. it came down to execution, and sometimes difference between the better team and the one that lost...is in the details. Central gained so much respect from me.  They showed a lot of heart, and never at any point gave up.  You're right...Central is the better team, they couldn't beat the "better coached team".  ::)    Do you read how stupid that sounds? Golden triangle Homer you are....just glad the Jags aren't as blind as you are.
The only ones over-matched in that game were the coaching staff.  I new from the get go that the talent level over there was going to be able to handle us at least for 2-3 quarters.  I figured it would come down to a big play or two. The Central coaching staff came out in the second half, and didn't anticipate half time adjustments.  They should of known that it was going to happen, it something that is indicative on film.  Our best quarter is the third, especially against great football teams.    Central gave up on their intermediate routes to early, trying to throw down field WAY TOO OFTEN.  Nothing on film indicated that those were high probability passes, in fact the opposite.    Like everyone keeps repeating, nothing to hang your heads about....great effort, and lots of heart was displayed last night.
This was a good game.  We came out fired up.  14-0 Lead to start.  Then that stupid play on the punt return swung all momentum to Humbl as they scored 24 unanswered points.  That killed us leaving that 7 points on the field.  We couldn't stop that run up the middle and that swing pass killed us...  (sounds familiar?)  We then wen away from what works...  The run up the middle to Heard wasn't working...  They wanted to play cat and mouse with this team.  Newsflash, we're down at this point.  Finally, the OC got his head out his but and found something that works.  The run with the QB.  Humble then drove and our defense held.  Props to the Humble kicker for drilling that FG, even after being brough back on a penalty... We had our chance at the end.  QB broke for a Td run but was brough back for a chop block. That was a tough blow.  Props for the halftime adjustment by Humble on both sides of the ball...  Maybe next year, our coaches will learn to tart putting teams away early and leave no doubt that we're here to win, not play around and play to NOT LOSE...      Nevertheless, geat season to my Jags. Now, go Indians and go Bruins...  BUT, I got a PN-G fathful to wear a Jag hat the entir game..  Props to you!   ;D ;D
Soulja, yall have a great unit.  Lots of athletes on their, and it really made our coaches have to beat yall schematically.  I was impressed with your QB, he is going to be really special.  and number 21? (RB).....Mark it down, is going to be a STUD.

 24.
Great season Jags. However, there is no reason ya'll should have lost this game tonight. I dont understand some of the playcalling ,and the lack of halftime adjustments. Humble is a very beatable team, but coaching failed you tonight. Ya'll came out after the half, and ya'll were flatter than a balloon two weeks after the party. I dont know what they said to ya'll inside the locker rooms, but whatever it was, it had an adverse effect on you compared to how you guys came out to start the game. No excuse to lose this game. I hated to see it end this way.
::) Good game Jags, yall played with a lot of heart.  Yall have a great program top to bottom, was impressed with your team support, band, and team.  Wish things were a little cleaner as far as behavior post play (for both sides), but it is the nature of a game with a lot on the line. I felt that we underestimated yall in the first quarter.  yall came out and punched us in the mouth, it wasn't looking good.  But we were able to settle down and pull it out in the end. I realize that some will say, "yall could of beat them...they are very beatable".   and some of our fans will say "Hey, that was probably the worst game we have played since dobie "... But ill say this...This was Texas Playoff football.  Throw away what you did in the regular season, Margin of victory..total point scored.  It doesn't matter.  Something about playing to live another day makes things a lot more interesting.  Yall have nothing to be ashamed of, yall are solid. Like i previously thought, the athleticism central had neutralized us offensively.  We showed some weakness of special teams, that really gave yall some swinging momentum to start the game.  it was HUGE that yall cross our 45 yard line on the first KO.   yall put us in a position we were not comfortable with.  Defensively i don't feel we game planned well enough for your QB.  Totally underestimated his ability to throw down field, and yall did pick on our #20 SS Cameron Solomen (Which was our weakest defender..someone watched film)....but what hurt us the most...was mitchells ability to go down field. anyway...enough of that. Much respect for yall, and hope to see yall next season in the Playoffs.

HUM398, if you were an offensive coodinator planning a game with KP, how would you attack their defense? Outside, inside, heavy pass attack? BrenhamFan, you might chime on this as well. The cubs did seem to have success on drives when they didn't have the turnovers.
When we didn't turn the ball over, our offense was about 80% effective.  I'd say they are about as talented as Waller with a little better offense.
Theyrre better then Waller.  They are on par with Stratford Offensively.  If you were to switch Waller and Kpark, you'd get an upgrade.
