2wedge got a reaction from AHUDDLESTON in Jasper (15) vs Sealy (31) - FINAL
Dang good if you ask me. It sure is a good thing that Jasper finally got that silly Coach Barbay to move along so they could have some real success.

Ah I see. Your son was being recruited as an "edge rusher" and since he wasn't being used for "edge rushing" you assumed all his dreams would die due to Reyes scheme on defense. A scheme that just won you and your "edge rusher" son a district title in a district with LCM, Huffman and Vidor, and a pretty good chance at a DEEP playoff run. Don't worry, I am sure your son will still be allowed to "edge rush" at Austin College, or whatever program told him he was being recruited as an "edge rusher".

Yeah. First round playoff games in the slop are normal things. Often times it benefits one team over the other and has always been seen as part of the game. These decisions to adjust game times and days to avoid playing in the rain are soft as baby bleep.

PNG arrogance seems misplaced. They only beat Dayton by a TD last year while Dayton was in full transition/rebuild. Dayton is still a "work in progress" but will bring quite a bit to the table that has not been available for the last several years. Dayton will have a "machine" built within the next couple of years. If PNG happens to win this one, they should savor the moment as Dayton will be a dominant force in the district in short order.

Stud Sophomores are already on varsity in most situations. That renders JV results worthless to everyone except the kids and parents who are involved in the game.

Short memories on this board forget, it wasn't too long ago that Dayton dominated those golden triangle teams year in and year out. Dayton isn't the new kid on the block, they're the kid that has been down on his luck recently. The culture and expectation is there, now the play and coaching is starting to match what the community requires. Watch them become a power again....it's starting as we speak.

I do not think any setsports.com coverage area coaching staffs wait each week to read setxsports posts to get info to help game planning.

2wedge reacted to AggiesAreWe in National Coaches Day- Thursday Oct 6
You just have to understand that there are people who always look for the missed spot on a freshly painted door.
No one is stating anyone should revere a coach, but nothing wrong with giving them a day of praise.
National Coaches Day is not just for high school football coaches.

2wedge got a reaction from APanthers in Will Anahuac lose a district game ?
Don’t let unrealistic expectations from others on message boards lead you to disparaging a 15 year old kid. Kid is good, he didn’t call himself top 10 in the nation. He just shows up and works and is a very very good prospect. Even in a loss last night, you could see that. Dischler is also quite the player. No need to step on one in order to elevate the other.

Great game. Wack just couldn’t defend the T and the zebras blew the bounce pass in the 4th. Eh, shake it off and get ready for next week panthers!

You could be right on all of the above, who knows. I don't know the family as well as my posts might suggest, I just know what I've been told and know their reputation around the area. Good small town folks.

You are correct that it is an opinion piece. But the man has dedicated 30+ years to that paper that covers Orange County so I think it's a very credible opinion. He's seen it all.

2wedge reacted to oldschool2 in Anahuac vs Hardin? Give me your thoughts!
Are you aware of the term District of Innovation? I read that most schools in the state took on that role which includes certain perks such as schedule flexibility and allowing certified teachers to teach in fields they aren't certified in. I bet that Hardin has those flexibilities. I also know that in certain circumstances smaller schools hire uncertified (yet degreed) people to teach while they are completing or even working on a certification.
There is no set rules as to what exactly a coach HAS to teach.. and just because a coach is teaching something one year doesn't mean the teaching field can't change the next. Even for that exact coach. It sounds to me that Hardin either lacked creativity or refused to be creative... because I have friends/family in the coaching profession and was told that Barrier wanted to hire specific people to coach yet was told he couldn't. I'm not usually one to go off of just the word of a few but the coaching world usually holds pretty true to what I hear. In my experience anyway. So if that is evenly partially true.. he did the exact right thing by abandoning ship.

2wedge got a reaction from Separation Scientist in Will Anahuac lose a district game ?
Eh, this isn't even close to true. Dad didn't bolt Hardin to give QB better chance at success only, but also the chance to have an excellent high school football experience, as well as a chance to win. Brady would've had success at Hardin had they stayed, but he would've always been limited in his ability to make a real run at BIG success. Brady can do well at Anahuac and get all the exposure he wants on the summer camp circuit. It is much more important to his parents that he get an education and get to experience life as a well adjusted kid, rather than bounce from high school to high school for exposure. Only way he ever leaves Anahuac is if Coach Dad gets an opportunity as a AD/HC somewhere in the next 4 years, and I honestly don't think he would do that to Brady. Panthers got this one for the long haul. Now, rather than overanalyze a 15 year old country kid's future, lets just enjoy watching him develop and lead a pretty good Panther squad through the rest of the season!

Tap the brakes, my guy. I watched a couple of Anahuac games on their stream and I like the kid. He's a player for sure. But top 10 in the nation? I don't believe you're considering the enormous multitude of schools across this nation that will produce the hundreds upon hundreds of collegiate level quarterbacks over the next however many years. Just look at the state of Texas. Again.. I like him. But.. are you not considering Lake Travis, Westlake, Allen, Martin, and the multitude of other 6A schools that will have quarterbacks that focus solely on being a quarterback and the countless other hidden gem quarterbacks across all classifications in THIS STATE ALONE?
Do I believe he'll take snaps at the next level? Sure? As long as the work ethic remains and he avoids injury. Top 10 nationally, though? You're legitimately talking future NFL quarterback with that statement and there's no way I'll be convinced of that just yet. Someone mentioned 1,000 yards.. where does that rank him in 3A?
