  1. Totally agree with this. I've always been more successful when the people I work with push me to be better. Bum Phillips was next-level when it came to understanding human nature and how he fit into it.
  2. I think you're right. That would get more butts in the seats, too.
  3. Exactly. Make it the most entertaining brand of basketball possible and it'll work.
  4. Winning will fix these issues. They just need to figure out how to do it. It might take something gimmicky like UNLV and Loyola Marymount used to do. Make the style fun for the players and fans. Find good shooters in the transfer portal, let the defense create offense and RUN.
  5. Yep. I followed his NBA career pretty closely after that. I hated those Bad Boy Pistons teams at the time, but I've grown to respect them over the years. They gave MJ fits...
  6. Weren't the Sox already suspected of sign stealing?? They along with the Yankees and Manfred can all pound sand.
  7. He was right. That was a great team that got jilted.
  8. I remember that. Tech had some great teams back in those days. It was almost always them and LU at top of the old SLC. USL, NE Louisiana and McNeese had pretty good programs back then, too. That conference was deep...
  9. That would be a good choice since LU needs to get back to being a legit basketball school. How long could he do it, though?
  10. It's sad. I watched every game that KFDM had on the air and there was usually a nice crowd and a huge home court advantage. There's no energy at Montagne anymore. Tubbs was a program changer. How do they find a guy like that?
  11. James Gulley was almost unguardable on the block most nights. He and Tommy Sewell were my two favorite Cardinals back in those days. I wish I could have seen those Billy Tubbs teams, but Foster's teams were a lot of fun to watch, too.
  12. I wonder if the Lamar/Duke game from the mid-80's is out there somewhere. LU lost 66-62, but it was a dog fight. That would be fun to see again.
  13. He got pulled late in a lot of the games he played in because we were crushing just about everyone. He may not have had the most yards, but he might have been the biggest gamebreaker.
  14. It doesn't even make sense. If they do well this year, it will be in spite of him.
  15. I wonder what Reggie Davis did in '84. It seemed like he was breaking off huge runs like Chris was in '86.
  16. The could definitely do enough to be on par with a few of the other schools mentioned here, but how smart are they with that money? That's why the decision on the next AD is so important.
  17. Is that net income across all departments at LU or does the athletic department post its own financials that feed into the university's? I'm not familiar with collegiate accounting practices.
  18. My boy DBD is always stirring the pot. 😂😂
  19. Those old LU teams made me want to be a Cardinal when most of the kids I grew up with were dreaming of SFA, McNeese or SHSU (if not bigger schools). It never happened because I left the state, but I've always loved the program. I don't know what the solution is. Where's the revenue and fundraising that will add to the budget? How do they keep the local kids home? It just seems so far uphill...especially when times are so tough.
  20. It didn't take long for Toby Talk to take over this thread. I hope he gets a job soon so only the fans of that school will roast him instead of the rest of us. 😄
  21. I know that being a Jasper guy means we shouldn't like anything about you guys, but Coach T is great. Every now and then when Jasper has had open weeks. I would listen to your games on KOGT and I loved the postgame interviews.
  22. I'll let you play with them and stay out of it. It's kind of pointless to me to keep talking about someone that's not in Jasper anymore. Do your thing. Go Dawgs!!
  23. I have questioned what they were doing at times when the situations in games dictated more urgency, but I never said anything about them giving up or quitting. Barbay didn't always adapt the offense to be able to come back in games. We're all digressing at this point. He's gone and we need to move on...
