  1. Jasper also wasn't the job it used to be when Darrell was hired. The fieldhouse was a revolving door and coaches were leaving left and right. At the time, bringing him in was as good a move as the higher ups could ever make.
  2. He was referring to when Darrell got the job. I thought it was a great fit at the time and I really think he could have stayed in Jasper as long as he wanted to. He had more success there over a decent amount of time than anyone not named Walkoviak. I just hope they hire the best fit for the program, regardless of name or ties to Jasper. You know the level of athletes that walk through the halls as well as anyone, Coach. Greatness is right there in front of us...
  3. I always felt like he was supported by the community as well, but I wasn't surprised at all when he left. Sometimes, it's just best to start fresh in a different place. There was some criticism about his ability to adapt schemes to defenses, but there weren't many people that wanted him gone. It seems like he felt like he hit what he thought was the ceiling of the program. I could be wrong about that because the double retirement thing probably had a lot to do with it, too. I think he'll win in Mansfield and I wish him well.
  4. Go if you can. I would if I could. Should be a great game. Silsbee will win 95-87. Book it.
  5. Haha. Hope it's who we think it is, but JISD is well known for throwing curveballs in these situations....
  6. His offense and Bronson's defense would be a formidable combo. I don't think it would come together right away, but you never know.
  7. Fair enough. Let's just say that he was the popular choice down there.
  8. I'm still trying to understand Toby's situation. Everybody thought he was the obvious choice at WOS, which is the flagship 4A school in the area coverage until proven otherwise, but he's probably going to get passed over by Jasper. Is it twice now?
  9. Crumedy's had a lot of success with it. We ran something similar last year with very different results. It seemed like the line wasn't physical enough and we didn't have a home run threat at tailback. I could be wrong, but that's what I saw.
  10. That's what DBD and I think, too. I also like Prouse.
  11. Oh okay. I was obviously mistaken. Thank you all for setting me straight.
  12. I'm on board with Crumedy, but what Prouse has done at Deweyville is impressive considering that they had never made the playoffs before he got there.
  13. Beats me. It's hard to believe that few people wanted the Jasper job. 🤣
  14. So who stands out on the list besides Foreman?
  15. As long as it gets blocked correctly, I don't care if we run it every play. 🤣
  16. They were amazing last year and they were on the field way too much.
  17. I haven't seen one. This Foreman stuff might not even be true. I just want someone with a track record that will get the most out of those kids. Jasper deserves a contender and we've always had the kids to do that, but they need to be well coached. They have a gem of a DC in Bronson, but the offense needs to be retooled and in the weight room. Physicality was badly lacking last season on that side of the ball.
  18. I have a wait and see approach to the situation at WOS right now. I wonder why they really passed on Foreman when he was the people's choice down there.
  19. He'll have more to work with in Jasper than he has had anywhere else as a HC. I just need him to show me he can win and I'll be fine. We don't to start cycling through coaches again. I know Barbay was there for ten years, but it was a mess before that.
  20. I'm not thrilled with this if it happens. Not at all...
  21. RIP, Sammy. You'll be missed. Teach Jesus about WOS football. He'll love it.
  22. I don't think he'll go anywhere unless someone gives him the moon. I still think he could be leveraging to get more from Cuero.
