UIL sets our district. Our pre district games are with WOS, Jasper, Anahuac, and Woodville, all larger playoff teams.

Newton loaded with sophomores, freshman starting running back. Missing two games hurt us as we were lining up wrong on defense against WOS. Most of that has been corrected. Very weak district we are in does not help us for the playoffs. Anahuac was cancelled because of smoke and Jasper game was cancelled. Hemphill cancelled the JV and one jr. high team. We just need more games to develop our players. Hemphill and Newton’s high school enrollment is about the same. you see what happened to a good kirbyville program several years ago and recently with a outstanding WOS program when the parents and school board got involved. Could the same be possible with Hemphill ?

Newton started running clock in middle of second quarter and started subing.

Regardless, if Newton moves down, I think newton will opt. to stay where they are.

Last alignment Hemphill 273. Newton 260. Newton is at 255 now and the last cutoff was 250. Hemphill has done away with there JV and moved them to their varsity. We do not know what the new cut off number will be. Hemphill sayes they are at 250 now. These figures may not be accurate or final. I got my figure from a good source.
