This is one of our problems as a nation. All these stupid mercy rules and participation trophies. So little Johnny placed 8th in the swim meet. Don't recognize it. He lost...badly. Instead his parents should pat him on the back and tell him to work harder. And if you get run out of the gym, go get better! But thats just me

they do but it doesnt matter....half the kids still eat bags of chips and cokes for breakfast. When a kid is good enough to play at the next level you see them come back around town Christmas after their first semester they have put on 30-40 pounds of solidness and look great...they are no longer eating crap for meals

Most HS coaches do speak to their kids about nutrition. The cut backs they have made by law in the cafeteria is not helping kids either.

So much for just congratulating these young athletes for winning...... Congrats to JD and Tims! There are several athletes that could have been nominated and were well deserving of it, but someone has to win it. All of the Kids that were nominated can hold their heads high and good luck to them at the next level!

3 pitchers is all you need once district and the playoffs roll around.  Tournaments will be tough but those are just warm up games anyways.  

He came out onto the field near the goal to yell at the referee about a non-call. The ref said go back to your bench. Coach kept yelling and got a yellow. Was told to go to the bench again. Said no. Got a red.

Ive heard some things from a couple of coaches, and  I dealt with it when I played against them, too.  But hey, according to the other png poster on here, we're just jealous .  Seems like the new thing to do out there is to flood the field with cops after the game to make sure it doesn't backfire on them

Here is my take about the removal guys...I realize this is a privately owned site and does not have to allow all points of view or positions, but guys it's just that that brings viewership to the site and in turn drives advertising to support the site...I have a pretty deep background in media and you are walking a tight rope here. When you are employed by a public entity like an ISD and you are a Head Coach...well being thrust into the public eye is just part of the gig. When the cameras show up on Friday night after a big win and you are praised...well that too is part of the gig. I don't think any media source should allow  slanderous things to be published or broadcast about them or those they love. Race is part of life and that discussion will always be around and shuttering it is worse than the discussion. So if the reason for pulling the thread was because of slander by a member than the thread should have been taken down and that individual should have been kicked off the site. But know the definition of slander???Be right in your judgement. Be careful because censorship is dangerous especially if it is selective. Once again this is a privately owned site that is open to the public and it uses public issues to attract members and participants and income. I love this site and I have respect for its owner and administrators but once again I raise caution to the direction and tone you are setting if the reason for dumping the thread was not derived from slanderous behavior. JMO and please I mean absolutely no disrespect.

see, thats the problem right there. If any parent in this area wants to gripe about a "tough" workout, drive down Newton street to the back of the WOS fieldhouse from August to December. Then they will see what a real "tough" workout is. All you hear from other places is people saying why cant we be like them? Or how do they continue to do it? Well because we didnt call it a "tough" workout at WOS, we just always called it normal practice. Its a mind set people. Plain and simple. #2015Statechamps is what that gets you......
 
Sorry, off soap box now. LOL. Just irks me when I hear parents gripe about coaches being too hard on their kids.

Honestly, I don't like taking a knee. I would rather the kids go to the sideline and get water. And be respectful.... Clap when the injured arises....

A Lumberton varsity player has set a gofundme page for a jv raider players. During a scrimmage a jv player lost his hearing aid and they found it on the playing field in pieces. So Mason Sikes a senior took it upon himself to set up a gofundme page to help replace the hearing aid so the player can hear in school and on the field again. I can't express how proud I am to be apart of a community where our players help anyone in need in Lumberton!

dude be a fan.  You have the right to feel how you wanna feel. You have the right to say what you wanna say.  Go up to field house and tell them. The players read this.  Do you think bashing their coach is helping them.  I think not.   They will be the coaching staff at least 8 more games.  Do what's best for the players stop bashing their leaders

There is no way there are 25 teams in D1 4A better than Silsbee. They should at least be in the top 20. Whoever does this poll just sits behind a computer and  looks at scores. 

Absolutely great game! The officials were not very good both ways. There is not a rule against face guarding in high school. The kick off went off the kids hands into the end zone. He should have just taken a knee. Other than that, the game was an all out war! #7 line backer for Newton is an absolute beast! I truly feel sorry for anyone that has to play them now!

What would make this an "epic" game in your opinion? I'm guessing if the score was the other way!! I agree officiating was questionable, but both ways. It was a hard fought game, and a very exciting one to watch.
