  1. The run onto the field with the flag and the stare down of the PNG side was certainly disrespectful - I’m not sure Nederland would/will allow that on their field.
  2. Crosby’s crawling back to strength. La Porte is full steam ahead. Perfect recipe for a classic night. If I wasn’t going to be watching MCM I’d be at this one.
  3. We still have to get through the madness that is next week, Montgomery is more than good enough to beat us, and Dayton’s offense is no joke - If they catch us off guard they can pull us into a shootout.

  5. Not really, but there’s technically an element of “anything can happen” existing somewhere between the first whistle and Montgomery being up 48-6.
  6. Have to feel bad for Splendora. They haven’t won a district game since 2020. In our district they’re basically just a bonus bye week. To their credit, they seem to have good attitudes and keep their heads up.
  7. I couldn’t get it to show anything but an error message until the end of the 2nd quarter. Wasn’t worth watching at that point.
  8. I think Huntsville wins by more than 5, but this is an interesting test of where their defense is. They didn’t play great defense against PNG and they played bad defense against Montgomery. Montgomery had their linebackers guessing wrong all night. I don’t think Dayton’s offense is as powerful as Montgomery’s, but we’ll see if Huntsville has trouble with them. Dayton will score. Dayton’s defense is terrible and I don’t think they’ll stop Huntsville. Huntsville gets going early and takes out some frustrations: Huntsville 48-28.
  9. I saw WF in person against Nederland last week. They’re definitely better than last year. I sat near the WF sideline. It really seems like they’re bought in to coach mcdougald’s system, working well together. Beating Nederland should go in their records as the first consequential district win in school history. Before last week they had only ever beaten Splendora in district. Now they’re in 3rd place. Hats off to them. As far as PNG vs WF, it will be PNG by quite a bit. WF has a solid defense, and the offense has moved the ball in fits and spurts. They don’t have a lot of size or strength. They didn’t have much success running the ball against Nederland. They were smart about their play calling and took advantage of a few short and long passes to keep the chains moving, but if Ned’s secondary had been a little better or if the WF qb/wrs had not played their best game in school history, they would have almost no offense. Hopefully PnG covers the pass better. Overall, WF won’t be able to run, PnG will get to the qb better than Ned, PnG’s secondary will cover, and, importantly, PnG’s o-line and RBs will have control of the game from the get-go. PNG 45-14.
  10. I thought he had a college job lined up but it fell through. And, it was probably time for him to leave. At a certain point, you’ve probably done all you can do at a program and it’s best to leave before you get stale. And the team gets a chance to see what a new coach can do.
  11. This is a bad matchup for the Bulldogs. Weakest part of Nederland’s defense is the secondary, and the strongest part of Lake Creek’s offense is the passing game.
